Thread: Some Jedi don't care for PVP
pre-CU...I would agree with you...Post CU...they are very much an alpha class given what they can add with it...

Just like you said.....You "have a MBH" and "without the risk, whats the point?" You really should qualify what you write. There is no risk for the BH. What....you dont get paid? So you grab another mission. When BH's lose xp for their failure then I will say they have something to risk. The armor decay is not an argument because if they have more than one account or a good friend, they get their stuff for basically free. Add an ADK and your argument goes the way of the Dodo.To be an alpha class, the developers need to treat the Profession as an Alpha Class. Never touched on the one button nuke. If that was what I was after, I would play space invaders. You dont think it would be a more lively and flavorful SWG experience if all players lost xp and were hiunted by other players? Or is it only Jedi being hunted that makes the game more flavorful to your palette? I personally dont care for PvP. If I did, I would run around Overt (Special Forces) all day long. The name of the game is fun. I have fun playing my Jedi, hunting with my friends. Dont find any joy in having our hunt and gameplay interrupted by a BH ambush. Which is the main reason every player is not attackable in the game. Think about it. Its a no brainer. As far as being anAlpha Class standard player.....well I guess it depends on the individuals definition of Alpha Class. Played since launch so I am not what you would call green, youngin.
MBH isn't an alpha class...and you know that.

And thats where we have problems. Just because Bounty-Hunter can be acquired just as easy as a Chef or ShipWright, that doesnt mean they shouldnt share a certain risk to the profession as well. After all, BH was the profession chossen to be the Jedi nightmare, the one profession that would put them all at their knees and would force them to hide from the common players.
Or what was the whole porpouse of the Player Bounties then? SoE punish their costumers for playing a game? Generate certain grief among players just for the sake of making Jedi look like "Ultra turbo hard mode"? I mean those days are gone, where games in order to be harder they should go in what some may call "unfair gameplay" (Old arcade games, were not really hard, they just had their speed up so you could feel more "hardcore"). When I think about a hard game, is a game that actually makes me think, a game that challenges my general knowledge and maybe reactions to do something, not the lame excuse of "Lets grind for a year, then you have to use a 1 damage weapon, now that is hard man!" excuse.
Jedi in this game is (and has, been by the player base) portrayed as a public enemy (and with complete reason, see Episde III all Jedi become enemys of the Empire), ok that is part of how the "story goes". My problem rely on how Jedi is well... the only public enemy. Why can't Rebels get "visibility" in an Imperial Outpost? Why can't Politicians be hunted or Smugglers get caught by the local police. Hell, why can an Imperial Colonel sit in the middle of Anchorhead while spamming "Imps own, Rebel clone!".
It would be nice if SoE would stop "balancing" Jedi while making the life of the other professions easier.

Had some thoughts on this, If Jedi wins his fight the mission should be over for the BH (the BH should not be allowed to come back 3 or 4 times) and wining the fight should clear the cache of the Jedi's Vis as well as granting normal xp. (I was in a group this weekend where a BH came back 3 times for a nother Jedi that was in the group which really disrupts group missions, then after he finally got the clue that he wasn't going to win and left then a different BH came and did the very same thing. very annoying!)
If the BH looses the fight it should either cause the BH to loose Investigation XP and not allow him to hunt a Jedi until his Investigation is Positive. Or If a BH looses the fight he gains BH Vis and have the danger of other BH coming after him/her.
Sure this is subject beaten to death, but wanted to put my 2 cents in =P
No offense mate, but You knew the job was dangerous when you took it.You get Vis, you get the visit. If you have a BH who is perisitant, well again, you knew the risks.
And if things are getting too hot and disruptive, remember, you always have a perfectly Viable Alt character you can play with.
1) i said i'd deal with the pvp when i had to
2) I didn't say remove the pvp
3) i said there should be a benifit to the Jedi for fighting the bh (rather than running)
4) i said there should be detriment for the BH if he looses and he should have to get a new mission.
5) and yes i know as you pointed out i have a perfectly good alt to play when i want to
this is only my opinion and i know there are those who disagree with me, but think (and/or read the post) before replying...

Jedi is PVP. They are the quarry of BH's. If the jedi loses, they lose xp. If the BH loses, they don't get paid, their armour is toast and they will need to invest more credits to get replacements. They do not need to lose xp.
If you can't handle the situation as it stands and has stood for 2 years, then you need to stop playing your jedi.
Many BH have ADKed armor that is not a real valid point unless the BH happens to be poor. The fact is as it stands now there is nothing to for Jedi to gain to stay and fight a BH. NOTHING. So why stay and fight? Whoohoo! I get better PVP rating. The fact is BH have every thing to gain and really nothing to lose that is why you will see the SAME bh go after a JEdi 3 and 4 times in a row.
My suggestion for Jedi who do not wish to fight? Run or get away some howfrom the BH the moment they attack you. Then if you can make them pay for their attack by blowing up their bikes as they pull them..Hit and run, rinse and repeat. After about losing 3 to say 5 bikes the BH will get the idea and leave you alone. Don't just run away if you can help it, hit their pocket book as long as they will let you. You want toforce them to drop your mission out of shear frustration.
Is this mean? Well BH in my oppinion are picking the fight...not the Jedi and thus deserve what ever comes their way.
A word to the show off Jedi...Yes those Jedi who like to PVP in Theed...If you are here complaining about BH hunting you...get a clue, you bring it upon yourself and there should be no pitty for you. You deserve to be hunted into the dust.

Rolf...You should know better and not to mention anything regarding Jedi and not liking PVP. It takes about 20 seconds for all the PVP fanatics to jump to your neck and tell you how Jedi was/is/and always will be about PVP. "If you dont like it, get out...because I have no respect for anyone who does not like to play like I do" is a big load of crap. It is a Star Wars game..and people want to play Jedi. Some like pvp and some do not..Forced pvp factor is not an absolute and CAN (and probably will) CHANGE. Jedi being a PVP profession is a remnant of an era long gone when Jedi were all powerful, and SOE had no Jedi content whatsoever so they needed to tell people something to keep them occupied (pvp). Look how drastically Jedi has changed since then.
I totally agree that a better BH systems needs to be set up to give us incentive, and penalize BH.

BH's r looting the good jedi CA's that are selling for 10 mil+. So all they need is some good NPC drops.
THere's part of my problem, I have a lot of friends in game and almost any AA or CA I get goes to them, with the exception of the 1 ca that had double bladed...that was mine
In fact, even the WS parts and power crystals already have homes
Message Edited by Jacella on 09-20-200503:05 PM
Keep a few of the CA's for yourself to sell on the forums. N ask the smiths that u supply ta pass along some of the cash to u. I sold some power cells to a friend of mine for 4 mil when they could have gone for 8 mil. So in the end we both win.
hehe..good idea...but I am too nice ...I really am a nice person, jsut ask anyone I've killed![]()
yeah but hopefully your ws friends should b well off on credits to spare ya some so you can become stronger and thus get better equipment.

sorry anybody with a BH alt does not count
What is this person gonna do when the pvp frs comes back? Jedi is PVP. If you want pve, there are better professions out there for that.

ADK anyone? Surely you jest in thinking we are so naive as to believe this as a valid argument.

So..with 8 pieces of armor to adk, that would cost roughly 160,000,000 credits. At 226k per kill, that is 708 full templated jedi that would need to be killed. Are you high?
