Thread: Smedley Speaks, and you can be heard
"It's mixed. It's very positive [feedback] from the people who are actually playing it. And we also have the expected push back from the people who haven't actually logged in to try it," says Smedley. "Once people get in there, it's overwhelmingly positive. It's the "the sky is falling" crowd on the forums that's still going to take some converting. I understand that. These are big changes
i want to kick that **edit**er in the face for saying this **edit** i tried it and it was **edit**ing bull**edit** that **edit**ing homo is a straight up liar

Ok. I guess that explanation kindof maybe makes sense. The only major problem that I have though is, you flip flop ALOT about the NGE. You seemed to be so happy with it, then you played it and seemed to hate it, now you like it again? Is this a repeat performance with your views on the CU?
PRO:
* Ican now make myself untouchable to players who's intention is to cause me grief.
* Somefriends who left becouse non-quest grinding are returning.
* Jedi content such as the crystal cave is finally added.
CON:
* The interface sucks.
* There's less character customization than Jedi Knight 1.
* My Medic lost both armor, weapon and expensive equipmentin the conversion.
Thank you. It's nice to see a laid out list of pros and cons vs "Oh this is great" "Oh this is bad". Your conflicting views threw me for a loop.
You can choose to look at it that way, or you can choose to look at it from the perspective that the "negative" forum posters are the ones who actually read threadsand learn about the game, and are thus are capable of making better informed opinions than the silent majority.

This game have a very strong silent minority. Whenyou see an issue we are upset about, it's often the same players posting about it over and over again while positive gamers only post once or twice then go back to play the game. With the high forumcount of the "negative" posters, it's easy for a forumdweller to believe they represent the "large mass" when they in fact are no more than a few hundred players next to maybe two-threehundred thousand players.
That do not mean I defend him or soe.

"The feedback told us that there wasn't enough diversity...So we decided to shrink down the number of professions"
it really demonstrates the immense brain-power at the SOE thinktank.

MsNiL we went through one nasty peckerjab at the game now we face another without lube. You dont care, okay we get it. There is a much larger voice saying this crap sucks and you cant change how we feel. Go save a cat from a tree or something.
MsNil won't get this, she appears to go through this game with blinders where only her opinions are correct or truly matter.

The main issue with NGE is the horrible interface, not the vision.
That and that they lie to us every chance they get and have no credibility. Nothing they say we can believe now. Nothing. They have, i do not think, ever kept a promise or followed through with their statements. SOE and Lucas Arts are the most unorganized bunch and need to sell the rights completely to another developer to fix this mess once and for all.
but ya.. the UI is horrible and makes me feel like 13 years old.
Never in all my left have I encountered such a bold face **** (person that is not telling the truth).
Smedley says, "LucasArts and SOE took a very close look at Galaxies to find out what we could improve and what needed to change to make the game more fun for existing players and what would make it appeal more to a wider audience. We did a lot of research and focus testing before we undertook these steps."
So why was the existing player base not used in these focused tests?
"The combat [change] was really just the first part of it," explains Smedley. "The overriding [issue] was the sheer number of professions in the game."
He adds, "In a sense that was one of the strengths of the game because you could be just about anything in the world, but it also had an impact on our ability to balance these professions and make them fun and unique. The feedback told us that there wasn't enough diversity and that people's choices [with regard to their professions] should mean something.
"So we decided to shrink down the number of professions and concentrate on more prototypical Star Wars iconic elements. A bounty hunter is a very iconic thing. Everyone immediately thinks Boba Fett. So we made that mean something now."
Not enough diversity, so lets cut out two thirds of the professions??
"There are a lot of different levels within that [profession], so the people who've been [working down the Jedi path] for a long time will be much more powerful than the people just coming up. We're still rewarding people for their loyalty over the years."
Eh? How???? Blueglowie is a reward?? My dog gets better treats than that.
So how is the fan base reacting?
"It's mixed. It's very positive [feedback] from the people who are actually playing it. And we also have the expected push back from the people who haven't actually logged in to try it," says Smedley. "Once people get in there, it's overwhelmingly positive. It's the "the sky is falling" crowd on the forums that's still going to take some converting. I understand that. These are big changes."
We have tried it thank you very much.
Do what you have to do Mr. Smedley, but do it ***** and tell the truth.
Edited to remove un approved words.

that guy reminds me of the Iraqi public minister who said during the first of the war that there were no Americans in Iraq.
"There are no Americans in Iraq, you must be mistaken" *while a tank rolls down the street behind where he is speaking*
