I'd ask what your views of this is, but its still a bit early. Actually this sounds like a positive move to the game. The pre CU is the Golden ages, the CU era the dark ages, and SWG2 (hmm needs a catchy title) could be the Renassance. Guess I better get in gear and get Master Powers then, or at least the XP I'll need.

This may very well be the best thing that ever happened to SWG...

Or a total flop.

I believe that having 33 professions was one of the reasons SWG was so unbalanced, it was impossible to keep all of them balanced. Now dabbling is removed, no more cookiee cutter templates, making the game more balanced and each role more useful and easier to give content to.The griefing aspect from BH's are removed, so we can now play our characters whenever we want towithout disturbance (there might be some pve stuff added as risk). No more FRS so Jedi are no longer a pvp profession at all. No more worrying about Force Healers or crystals.

Still, pvp will be 75% about skill now... and I am good at games that requires speed and hand-to-eye coordination. I will probably pvp more.
Grinding will be more questbased, like wow.

This all sounds like what the CU should have been, so I am going to give it a try and spend the next 3 weeks on testcenter. If it's as good as the betatesting players say it is, I am going to attempt to pull back as many as I can from WoW.

Reason: The lack of multiplayer pve content and Star Wars feel.
For 3 years I have tried to find excuses to stay in game but only the expansions offered me what I subscribed for in the first place: A multiplayer Star Wars pve experience with friends around the globe. I found friends but with almost no addition of pve content they dropped out one by one. Now it's my turn.

Thanks for all the work MsNil, proud to be apart of corbantis right now, and yes this will be Great or a HUGE flop...

My question is, I am a midway template jedi(lvl 80), would it be best for me to complete my template now? Or am I going to be able to recieve the same abilities as any other finished template lvl 80 jedi?I am going to try to finish it regardless, but hopefully friday brings some template boxes or what ever. I am so confused...

Coming to the forums tonight ruined a $40 drunk at the bar and some good weed :-( I hate changed, but it is probably for the best.

If your gonna ban me, next time at least let me do something worth banning!

Not being removed from how I see it...all of these combat classes will be able to use melee or ranged weapons

Gamestats create an average out of reviews from the large gamesites.
Score at launch (gamestats):

Knights of the Old Republic, 9.2 average, #28 best game, #6 best pc game
World of Warcraft, 9.2 average, #42 best game, #8 best pc game
EverQuest 2, 8.1 average, #665 best game, #98 best pc game
StarWars Galaxies, 7.2 average, #1001 best game, #146 best pc game

Taken from reviews:

GameSpy, July 15 2003
"Bugs, bugs, and more bugs; poor customer service; premium price; bad controls; lack of content; imbalanced classes; creatures and quests."
"It must be acknowledged that, as a gaming experience and as a commercial product, Star Wars Galaxies is a huge, bug-infested mess. It suffers from the kinds of issues that plague nearly every MMO around launch time - broken servers, broken quests, buggy gameplay, lack of content - and adds to it some unique Galaxies issues such as infrequent patching and truly poor customer service all, at a premium price."
"When it came time to score Galaxies, I initially thought of all the bugs and broken areas, the steep subscription fee and poor customer service, the often slow-paced gameplay and as-yet unrealized potential of the game."

IGN, July 11 2003
"I've been chatting a bit with the few readers who've bothered to say "hi" to me in the game. And one of them completely crystallized one of the basic frustrations with the game like this "I've been doing the same *#&@ since I figured out how to shoot my gun." For me, that's the ultimate test of an MMO's potential interest. In the case of Star Wars Galaxies, the things you do on Day 14 are probably the same things you were doing on Day 1."

GameSpot, July 2003
"These missions, repetitive as they are, are the best way to earn money, and can make for some relatively entertaining hack-and-slash adventures. But ultimately, the game's combat isn't really any better than what's been seen in numerous other games of this nature. So the gameplay of the fighting professions can be just as repetitive and uneventful as that of the non-fighting professions, though there's inherently more excitement to be found in slugging it out with Jabba the Hutt's goons, for example, than in dancing at the cantina or making your hundredth survival knife."

Short version: Nostalgia have ways to dminish the bad parts of a game... but it's easy to go out on the web and read what the game was like back in 2003.

Bah. First launch was a flop as well. Remember the massive bugs? Servers died on opening day. What a joke. Star Wars but you had to walk everywhere.?.? Creature Handlers like crack heads every where you looked. Hell I bet you where a CH the first month. was the only way to play. Only way possible.

All problems point back to the original fubar design by a bunch of gimps that thought UO was just the greatest. Sony should have hired better.

In order to stop the cycle you must break the cycle. Spend your money elsewhere.

If it isnt obvious enough by now. cancel and forget it.
