You test is lame, the ranged player never tried to kite or reverse-kite, the melee Jedi never tried specials nor did the ranged guy. Bottom line, your lack of PvP knowledge in this new system lacks huge!
Glad your leaving though, please dont let the door hit you!

that's me in the video, and i've been avidly pvping on my jedi for the past year in all situations: 1v1, small skirmishes, and large battles. i "buffed" before this fight with increase dmg, increase defense, and saber block that last about 30seconds each with a few second cooldown timer on all. I used a few foods, and did indeed attempt to use a few specials (the snare, the higher dmg special attack, saber throw, etc.)
the combat system was incredible difficult to adjust to, and the targetting system inherently gives ranged kiters the advantage. I could only heal for 3k (out off 11k health) once every 6 seconds or so. it seemed like the same timer as is now.
The fact that he didn't kite, showed that he didn't need to. there was no way for me to outdamage or outheal what he was dishing. Jedi is now relegated to a non-special melee class with ranged having a clear inherent advantage. The same issues pre-cu are there: server lag showing positioning not quite accurate (target is not actually where it's displayed), bugs a plenty that will not get fixed before this is pushed live, and severe imbalances that will not get adjusted properly.
imo there is no reason to continue playing swg with this system implemented. i never claimed or desired to be the leet powergamer jedi, and had my fun win or lose. i did pvp with a non-jedi alt and also had a weaponsmith that i cancelled shortly after the first CU. i've played every corner of this game however this system completely and utterly destroys the swg universe that i've come to enjoy. the magic came from an interesting combat interface and experience, it was a game of chess. this stripped version just isn't for me or any of the veteran players i've had the pleasure to meet.
so to the quoted poster, if you wanna continue to be a fanboy of SOE, go right ahead and blame the player. if you have a jedi, prepare for complete frustration of a system that strips all thought from gameplay. the cancel button helped me out with alleviating that.
good luck to those that are staying.

he's right, ranged do have a advantage now. i mean its semi hard to kite, unless you're just running back in a straight line, but as soon as they get 2meters away you're no longer hiting them. so its almost impossible to hit them yet again, wihle they are on the move. with as fast as damage ticks now, thats all it takes and its your ass. just wait until you have to fight a kiting NPC, i'd hit one and he'd just fly about 30meters away in a instant dash (Force run doesn't even do that), and i'd be down to half health.

/Agree, they need to up the Force run time or give more damage, or something. Balance my a-ss. There is no such thing as balance unless everyone is ranged or everyone is melee.
