no. Cloak might (I say might because things are always subject to change) get a snare (movement speed reduction) applied while cloaked. The extent of this snare are not known, and nobody has any idea if it's going to a snare more like equippinga ranged weapon, or more like AI's snare. Anybody saying this is horrible or you won't be able to move is speculating and has no clue if it's going to be bad or not.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Maybe every profession should have all the same specials. Better yet, how about swg just does away with all professions and we just have ONE. ...

wait.. isn't that what we have now.. since the cu?

We asked for concealment from visual and radar first, glowy-boy.

As I suspected, your kind and Riflemen were testing it out for us.

A very good post, laughed out loud at this one.

Upcoming to SWG:

1) Rangers can now cloak themselves, and members of their groups.

2) The Rifleman's Cover ability and a Jedi's Force Cloak now adhere to a common rule-set that falls in line with the new hiding/stealth system introduced with the Ranger revamp.

As for 2), this hints that Jedi will now have changes made to the way cloak works, most likely a nerf (Rangers might be able to break a Jedi's cloak?)

What is going on here???

First off, I have to say the Ranger Revamp sounds like it finally makes that profession much more attractive to play. Getting to be something other than a creature resource harvester, Rangers will have utility in a lot more diverse situations. My first elite profession mastered was Ranger, and I think these changes are great.

if Jedi cloak gets brought in line with other stealth skills, I am expecting that how well the player stays in stealth mode depends on their level in the skill tree where it's obtained. Sort of how Scout mask scent works today, in that the higher your skill mod, the less of a chance you have for the creature to detect you. Therefore, it's likely, for example, that a Master Ranger will have a better chance of detecting another hidden player than someone with less skill in such detection. Or a better chance of detecting a player attempting to remain stealthy. And, for example, a Master Force Weilder, would have a greater chance of remaining cloaked while a Ranger is attempting detection, than say, someone with only the investment of the x4xx of the Powers tree (if that's where it stays).

And quite a good argument can be made for Jedi cloak to be broken by someone likeone of theseMaster Rangers. We may be invisible to other sentients while cloaked because of the Force (as opposed to a Ranger using their new camoflage skill), we may even not have visible shadows, but does that mean we leave no heat signature, no footprints,no odor, etc., in the physical world as we pass throughit cloaked? If we can't cloak in front of droids (like the ticket droid at a shuttle), ostensibly because it's a machine, and therefore not able to either be attuned to the Force or fooled by it, how can we argue that cloak should fool instrumentation like a body heat sensor, a motion detector, or even some sort of visual image manipulator that can pick outone set footprints from amongst several others? I'm not saying Rangers should have a foolproof and/or automatic detection of Jedi cloak, but a small chance anyway (and a much larger chance of detecting players made stealthy by another Ranger).

However, if this becomes the case, I think Rangers should have to have some sort of devices of the sort mentioned above, either crafted by themselves or some other artisan-type, with game mechanics similar to resource survey tools.

As far as the snare in stealth mode, that's how it is in EQ2, and the stealth generators in the KOTOR 1 & 2 games. I don't like it any more than any other cloaker, but I fully expect that to happen. Either that, or moving at a speed faster than a snared walk makes you easier to detect by a new-fangled Ranger.

And forget about BH/Ranger combos. There'll be a bunch that try it, and then drop it after they get their bottoms handed to them enough times.
