Thread: New Jedi Question

tka is nice for the armor. Doc heal with healing, and rilfeman is nice for fighting bh. I wouldn't use a respec though, save it for your jedi skills, it is much more useful for that
don't use your respec to get Master Rifleman, just hunt in groups
I got Jedi the other day too. I wouldn't drop any skills until you have to. The only way to grind effectively at this early stage is in a group, preferably with a Master Defender who can tank.
I'd get Novice Healer quickly so you can start to heal yourself (unless you have medic/doc/cm already). If you get LS xx2x you can get a spin attack which is great for grinding in a group. I then got Enhancer 2xxx for Force Run and working towards Healer 2xxx for Improved Healing. Got Novice Defence too. That's about as far as I got so far ![]()

So I made padawan last night and it seems like now I can't kill anything (Big surprise). So I have couple questions for everyone out there:
- Should I be dropping some of my non Jedi Skills (I.E. MBH) to bring my CL down?
- I crafted a second gen saber since I only had one tuned crystal (which apparently stinks to high heaven) and a color crystal at the moment. Is it worth it for me to go hunt/buy another crystal to tune?
- I know I need to get some pearls asap but if I can't what should I do in the meantime? Don't grind jedi till i get it?
- Does anyone know of a guide for what to do after you get padawan? I heard you should go 0/0/2/0 Defender first then go 0/0/0/2 Enhancer and the start grinding sabers.
On a humorous not, it took me about 12 minutes to kill a level 74 gurk for 114 Jedi xp. I'm excited about the grind so any info would be appreciated!
1. NooooOOOooOO!! Your maximum XP you can gain is limited by your CL. Lower CL = lower XP per kill. And things will take you just as long if you are fighting a CL30 nuna asa CL30 padawan.
2. Try crafting a 1st gen and putting your stuff in there. A 2nd gen without 2 damage crystals/pearls in will have high FC. And FC is important to you as a leveling newbie padawan. You have to decide for yourself whether the higher damage of a 2nd gen outweighs the low force cost of a 1st gen.
3. Grind as best you can with what you have...or while you still have the majority of your template, go out and try to get pearls even if they are only "good".![]()
4. Get all novice boxes first. Then get 0020 sabers, that will give you an AOE attack with which you can join spinning groups with effectively. Then concentrate on 1 branch at a time, don't fill up the little boxes just because you have the xp. That'll just raise your XP loss if you die to a bounty hunter. That is what I did, and I paid for it with a 200k XP loss at relatively low level. ![]()
Killing something at your level will net you more XP than killing something 6 levels below you. (I'm guessing you're level 80). Good luck with the grind, don't let it get you down. Take breaks and do something fun from time to time.
Just get into a group and contribute as best you can just like any other player who is just starting the profession they are working on.
I wouldn't drop any skills that you don't need to drop because you get better XP for a higher CL than you do for a lower one so keep those skills until you have to surrender each one.
best to get xxx2 enhancer asap and get in a grind group like mentioned above prefer a MDef spin group.
I would then get LS xx2x for spin or whatever row you want and use a attack macro that cycles for you with basic hit.
Also Defender and get xx4x asap to get improved force aura for 500 def.
The rest is up to you what you want as a Template.
Proator
MLS/MDef
Corbantis
and remember grouping is your friend.
8 person group doing L80 critters. Make sure you hit each one once (with ONLY the saber).
you'll get max jedi xp.
dont use your normal profession or the xp will split and your jedi xp will be next to sweet nothing.

a) Dont drop your level. Ever. The max xp you get per kill is related to your combat level, stay at CL 80 for max xp.
b) Your saber doesnt matter when grinding. Group members dont give visibility, so you can grind in groups, and in groups you only need to inflict 1 point of damage to each target to get full xp. However, hunting crystals and pearls now while you still have MBH probably is easier than when you are a fully templated Jedi with a crappy saber.
c) For group grinding, LS 0020 is a good skill since you get the spin attack. My first skills were LS 0200 for Armor Break, Heal 2000 for healing and Enh 0002 for Force Channel, but that was back when groups gave visibility and I could hold my own against same-leveled critters with those skills.
d) Get used to slow xp rates. Jedi get 1/6th of the regular weapons xp a critter yields, a full template equals about 180 million regular weapons xp (give or take a few mill depending on template). Thought the village was a long grind?
