Thread: How Will We Address The New Jedi?

Ever wonder why Jedi were so hated?
It's attitudes like this that cause people to dislike you. There isn't even ONE new Jedi yet and ALREADY you are trying to figure out a demeaning term that is apripro(sp) for these Jedi.
This entire post sickens me.
You spend the amount of time pre-NGE Jedi did to get their sabers, and then watch a bunch of people get them for nothing. Then see how you feel.
I understand that you feel like you have been cheated because you HAVE... however, your hostility is misplaced.
You need to take out your hostility on SOE not the playerbase. The new Jedi had nothing to do with this change and the fact that you guys SO READILY look forward to demeaning them is very VERY dissapointing.
SilentSoul201 wrote:To all the real Jedi out there....Since the first holocron grinders unlocked, there have always been sort of demeaning terms used to refer to the next set of Jedi who had it easier than the previous. For example, Jedi who unlocked right after CU were called Respec Jedi, to differentiate between a Jedi who had to grind voritors for 6 months, and a jedi who had to spin lairs for 6 days on double XP and free respec. But, regardless of the level of difficulty of grinding, nothing will be easier than CU2 Jedi. Now, granted we shouldn't be envious of the ease with which they get Jedi, since they aren't actually getting the "Jedi" toon that we all know and love, i.e. an elite character that is meant to be better than the rest. Everyone has to understand from this point onwards that the fundamental use of a Jedi, as an elite profession, is going to change, so there's really no reason to care that Jedi will be so easy to get. It won't really be much to get anyway since it's not better than anything else. But, if the newbies start spouting off about how they have a lightsaber and start disrespecting those of us who had to work for our lightsabers at a time when Jedi were truly meant to be revered, we should be able to smack em down a little bit.So, what do you guys think we should call them? Personally i would say "Free Jedi," since Jedi will literally be handed out for free. But, if that's not harsh enough for you guys, post a few ideas in here and we will see what works best. Peace out.
"Free Jedi" sounds like a winner!

To everyone who just flamed me...
Post-NGE jedi players do not deserve the respect that pre-NGE players deserve. Period.
It wasn't just time that pre-NGE Jedi had to spend on their characters.... we spent a hell of a lot of time geting TO Jedi, and then were still at the lowest level of the game. With BH's after us trying to STEAL exp, with forced PvP, the threat of visibility, mass amounts of credits to get gear due to rarity, reliance on friends to help grind and get new skills, farming krayts/FS NPC's for crystals just to get a weapon that would barely cut it.... all i am saying is, if a post-NGE Jedi gives me lip because they think they are all that and a bag of chips with their little lightsaber, they deserve to be insulted.
Nobody will forget what a Star Wars Galaxies Jedi originally meant. A.k.a. pulling out your saber meant everyone in the surrounding area could kill you, if you die you are set back days of grinding, etc. Some of these aspects have been removed but this is what a Jedi really means in SWG, and a lot of those aspects are still present post-CU but pre-NGE. Being an SWG Jedi is going to turn into something completely different, something completely EASIER, so corn flake Jedi (which i WILL be calling all of you, if you don't like it, come after me) can take their freebie lightsaber and enjoy it, as long as they understand that they are a completely different type of Jedi from the rest.
And /lol at the guy who said he would take his lightsaber and cram it. Anyone else notice he was an MCH/MBE? Two classes that are being removed? Corn flake at its best.

To clarify, i'm not really mad about being screwed over. I'm a prime candidate, because i unlocked on october 29th, so around the time i could get full template is right when it wont matter. But i understand that the function of one class being better than another based solely on how much time you have to put into it really doesn't make sense. Like i said, eventually, when you have so many of one class thats better than the rest, the game doesn't really work. If jedi are supposed to be 1.25 times better than the rest, and you have 50% jedi, then jedi will always make up a greater % of strength in the game (62.5% in the hypothetical) and that is pretty much the definition of unbalance.
I am not really looking to take out any hostility on SoE or the playerbase. I appreciate that SoE is finally fixing the elite class problem by equalizing, and i understand anyone's desire to play a Jedi, so long as they understand that they are playing CU2's Jedi, not the Elite Jedi. So, when i hear people saying "wewt i finally earned my lightsaber, look at me I'm so cool," i call them a corn flake Jedi, because they think they earned an Elite profession when really all they did was earn a basic toon.
And you KNOW there will be people gloating about getting a Jedi post-NGE, because they don't understand what's changed. Those people need to get smacked.
I was a melee duelist before i unlocked. Was planning on making my alt a BH but never even got the chance. Thanks though.

Cracks me up, a bounty hunter who unlocks late and just has to find a nasty term foranyone else. Not to mention poking fun at someone who's having both of their professions removed. Guess you've got a pretty low self image, don't you? Can't hunt and kill people who don't want to PvP anymore, so you're forced to turn to name calling on the boards to make yourself feel better? Sad, really...
Cornflake Jedi....AHHHHH **Blood splaters**

Or maybe you could just let them play the game the way they want to. They did pay for it the same way you did, whether they saved gumball money, couch money, mom's credit card, or hard working salary. 15 bucks or8 quid is the same everywhere around. I will be respec'ng towards jedi because I have been working for it for a very long time. I personally am disappointed that i wasn't able to finish exp for FS village. Sorry for the elites that power grinded their way to jedi. That is something to behold. Now with the respec jedi, you will always hold above them a deeper sense of play. Now if you could hold the "grandfather's guiding arm" attitude instead of the "spoiled brat that had a toy taken from him", things would be better. So, as we were told when we were kids...If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all....
i'll second this. Just becausesome of usdecided to play the game and not grind jedi from the start doesn't make us less worthy of playing a jedi. I was working on my last unlock when all this CU2 came about, and I am dissappointed that I don't get to go kill Melichae or whoever and go do the Paddie trials. After 16 months of playing, 14 Mastered profession (ok 2 of those respecs), if I decide I want ot try out a jedi I am going to. And if anyone calls me a CORNFLAKE JEDI they will find my LS shoved where the sun don't shine.
Remember, most of the new jedi will have respecced to it because they had the skill points to do so, meaning that they GRINDED those skill pts, worked for them. Please save the amnimosity for the Ebay jedi, those that didn't work for their character.
hmm...well, i know the bhs will be salivating...but cant do anything but duel. of which i think its too bad and my heart goes out to them on that. I wanted to keep player bounties.
For jedi, well, me personally, i wont say too much, wont go out of my way to insult them cuz they dont know jack about alot of this stuff so its not their fault. However, respect for their skill will nto be there at all. I respect the old jedi for as long as the servers are up much more than the new as far as skill.
And I will NEVER lose a duel againsed one.
Ever.
