Thread: Now they want to TAKE our saber!

Oh hell now....I don't even have to read the responses in this thread. I just know that I did not spend a year getting my saber (as mediocre as it is) to only lose it to a BH because I accidently got vis. I'm sorry even with the ideas to separate jedi from the population so they don't get vis, you have to remember that there are other content where the jedi MUST get vis. Quest, POI's, Dungeons and times when you come across a nightsister while traversing dath. I mean I see it all the time where players (and other BH's) will intentionally give you vis when they see your saber out. This week alone I've had it happen over 10 times (4 times in 1 hour friday). Even after a /tell asking them to move back so I can finish my lair, they disregard it and move closer or just stay their.

You can't totally control how much vis you get other than logging off your jedi and playing your alt.....again, not an option. I pay to play my alt and my jedi when I feel like it. That's part of my enjoyment......I am not a trophy supplier for BH's.

So in my opinion, that idea would be too exploitable and would just weaken jedi because even with better pearls dropping, the tuning process is still too random and there is not a high chance you will get a good saber again. You'd be lacking in PVP once you lost your best saber.

There are better solutions to keeping people from dueling in cities and starports....heck just disable the duel command within the radius of city or starport....or even increase the decay of all items in the jedi inventory and hit them with a 1 million credit fine.....maybe even 5 million......not all ideas are good, but when it comes to taking away something from a person that is extremely rare and they spent the better part of a year or more getting what they have.....it's not a good idea to take it from them and give it to another player.

what would be the actual harm of looting a replica broken saber or something. I dont think that would hurt, as long as it wasnt the real one.

The BH I have says : why not, and the Jedi who kill me can loot my weapon.

The RPer says : why not if it can decrease the number of Jedis duelling in starports or doing anything with their powers.

The Jedi says : why not... but in this case, I would see a special mission the Jedi can take to retrieve his weapon. (like when Mace Windu go in the Bounty hunters guild to retrieve some stolen lightsabers)

And one thing : there is no loss of weapons, there is only the Force

Well I was so curious about jedi coming and posting on my forums all the time, I decided to come over and post here. Most of the jedi here seem to be level headed and I notice most of the time it is not the average jedi player posting on the bh forums, but rather the jedi who appearent feels he/she deserves everything. Now to retort a comment made by Wild cat, which said that as usual bhs want reward without risk. I wish to let him know that just because you see a post by a bh, that does not mean that he/she speaks for all of us. As you can see bhs and jedi don't only fight with each other, but they fight amongst each other. We bhs only want the same thing everyone else wants, content and proof. I like the idea of a lootable replica. It would be nice to have a trophey or proof, without having to take a screenshot. Besides that, no consequence is hardly the case. I invest a lot of time and money on armor and weaponary. Now too, we need to buy droids at higher costs seeing as how droid engineers are a few and far between. My equipment isn't cheap and it doesn't last forever. I don't think you should lose your sabers personally. I think that is stupid. Then again at this point I think it is stupid for devs to be focusing on bhs and jedi so much. People say oh yeah they have to cater to their most players, I say no. If they fixed other professions, like smuggling for example, there might just be less bhs and jedi. People would love to play smuggler if that is what the profession is. Right now it is lack-luster. There are a lot of professions aching for some content and all we try to do is get more for ourselves. I know a lot of people just have cool ideas and think that if they were implemented this game would be that much cooler. But lets calm down for now the cries of nerf, the fix this, fix that attitude of our own professions and try and get this game a little more playable for everyone. I wish for a truce. Now by truce, I don't mean that I will stop hunting jedi, but what I mean is that we will all be better sports and look at what is around us. I can kill some jedi yes, and some completely own me. Instead of looking at a death from a bh in poor light, take it as a learning experience and see what you might have done to lose the fight. I myself love to learn from my mistakes. If you died, you were either ill-equipped to handle that bh or you made some sort of mistake, so own up to that and learn from it. I know I personally am very good about giving any pointers to jedi who aren't so bitter. And bhs they need to do the same. Some cry when jedi win. I personally know that if the jedi won, they either had better playing skills or just had the better templete to handle my template. Either way I don't mind asking questions as long as I can tell a good sport is playing. Lets be more kind. If you are the rping type then roleplay, but I don't think comments like "you think you are so L33t" have their place in roleplaying. Well anyhow thank you for your time and i hope you consider my point.

Well, aside from the stupidity of looting our weapons....I think that the fundamental problem here is the weapons themselves. I have always hated this aspect of games. Unless you have the best this or that, you cannot be a true master. This is silly. I am more for all weapons being equal, with slight bonuses based on upgrades, crafting, pearls, etc. When I say slight bonuses, I am talking about the 10% range. For example, what if all Gen 4 sabers were 600-1000 dmg. Add a color crystal, you get +200 elemntal dmg. Add 5 pearls ranging from 1-100% efficiency/quality for a max total of 10% additional min/max dmg. The best saber you could possibly have would be 660-1100 with 200 elemental dmg. The worst could be with lousy crafting -10% at worst, and no crystals (except a color one)...you'd have a 540-900 dmg +200 elemental dmg saber at the worst.

540-900 vs 660-1100 That's not a bad range, and most of that is based on the actual crafting of the saber. Craft a good saber and you are already in the middle of that split. This would take the huge difference in weapon dmg out of the picture and force players to develop better skill. It would also mean the end of worrying so much about pearls and crystals and ADK-ing a saber.

The Darkside of the Force is neither Evil nor Good, it is simply an aspect of the Force, just as the Light side is neither Good nor Evil. The Darkside is an offensive and powerful side of the Force, where the Light is defensive and mundane. One is reached through emotion, the other through the absence of emotion. Hatred, Love, and Passion are the most powerful of emotions. Embrace them and you will be able to draw upon the true power of the Force.

That guy clearly has saber envy, so why not just let them loot a broken lightsaber off your body...not anything of yours but system generated, like the ears in D2, but the Devs have more important stuff to do, so let this dude dream.

This wouldn't stop jedi from dueling in starports anways. I would just make somecrappy saber with crappy crystals in it and fight with it and I'm sure thousands of others would do the same. So basically all you would be doing is taking away the ability of us to use our best sabers which is kind of pointless since this isn't the intentional purpose of this "fix". I would say that a starport TEF is a good idea, only problem is, that doesn't fix it either since there is no longer any death penalty in terms of xp or loss of jedi account (i.e. permadeath). I for one would love to get a saber tef and let peeps come after me, it would be fun. The only true way to eliminate jedi from sight is to bring back major xp penalties (even skill penalities where a jedi could lose a skill box). Then jedi wouldn't duel in open and it would bring back the excitement that has been lost when someone attacks. I for one miss the feeling of a bh hunting me where if he suceeds, I lose hours of grinding time with xp loss. I know some peeps don't like that, but I for one enjoyed it. It made the game worth playing and exciting. At some point, all jedi will understand what I mean when they plain just run out of things to do. PvP doesn't bring the same thrill. Just ask yourself how you feel when you are being attacked from aBH. I loved it but I also understand that others don't. Its a tough position to be in which is why I do have sympathy for the devs and the correspondents in the game. It's just impossible to make everyone happy, and they will eventually have to just make a decision and deal with the flames that follow.

I couldn't resist posting either but... I think a probable/playable solution would be to make it so if the jedi died, The BH received a LS replica (liek the old lootable "broken Lighsaber") that was the same hilt style as the jedi was wielding when the jedi was DB'd. Make the relpica saysomething to the effect of "XXXX(jedi) was slain by YYYYY(BH) on such and such a day." This gives the BH a trophy/proof that they actually killed jedi AND, Most IMPORTANTLY, I KEEP MY SABER IN TACT.
