No. You use your training saber to get 20,000 Jedi exp for the LS novice box. You don't have any special attacks while doing so, ergo warcry is your best friend. Then you can build your first real LS according to your favorite style.
P.S.: I don't understand what's so great about polearm1/2 AOE attack. I am at least as fast with leghit as with spinattack. It just doesn't hit hard enough, and often it leads to a situation where you could have double-killed your target because the damage was distributed on all the HAM....

I have master brawler, I heard that helps a lot for getting Novice LS.
I completely understand what you mean about the AOE attack "Double-Killing" your mob. If I can get 3 hits with my Powerhammer on the same HAM Bar, thenmost stuff that Ihunt will be dead. However, that's typically not the case.

same, pole spin attack1 is just useless. i'd rather use leghit1/2 or even the normal polehit1/2, i just feel i kill mobs a lot faster that way.
havent tried pole spin attack2 since i'm 300k shy of it

More or less, yes.. this is true. But it depends a bit on what specials you use, and what types of crystals you're using.

I don't get whats so great about the spin attacks either, I mean it's not like grinding normal proffs where you can charge at a lair and spam spin attack on it and not worry, with no armor you just can't take that kind of punishment from the mobs.

If you pay attention you can, I regularly tank 10 quenker relic reapers with my 0044 saber guy, I've got some healing as well to keep on top of things.

do people know if lightsaber stats have any effect in PvE or PvP?
