I'll make padawan before the change, but then what? Instead of being a vet that's been through the wringer, I'll be running around with 9 year olds playing Jedi? Mrs. Kenobi, Can Obi come out and play?

Hello all. As most of you know, I have been in Austin the last day and a half. We have been testing out new changes to Star Wars Galaxies. While most people will be afraid and uneasy about the changes, I want to let you know about what is going on, and how things are going.
First, let me start by saying that combat has become more fun and is a better change for the game. No longer will it be all about mashing specials and the best weapon. This is a new system and is not a rehash of the old or current system. With that im mind, please keep an open mind.
Now coming will be a drastic change in skills. There will be 9 classes as follows:
Smuggler, Bounty Hunter, Commando, Medic, Force Sensitive, Officer (think SL), Tradesman, Entertainer, Spy. Poli and Pilot will remain unchanged.
Most experience can no be either quest based or grinding. With skills will come abilities as well as rewards. Crafters will have 4 sub crafters. I will not get into the large scale of the changes. As there are others that are also having things to say about it.
Basic points, entertainers and crafters will no longer draw agro unless they pick a fight. There are drastic changes to the way that specials work. I will be writing up basic 0.1 guides when I get back home tonight. Those will be in more detail.
As for TC itself, please hear me before you go nuts on this.
TC will be put in stasis for a week or two to start out. These are drastic changes that need to be worked and tested from level 1. After that, TC will be brought up to test mid to high level as well as /respec. The detalis on this will be each person gets 10 respecs on which the 10th will be permanant. You cannot change your skills anymore, what you start is, is what you are. No surrendering and re-grinding.
AND ALSO THERE WILL BE NO BLUE FROGS SO DON'T EVEN THINK OF ASKING!!!!!!!!!!!
I know TC does not want another mothball. I did all I could, but the fact remains that we need low newbie testing. I did manage to get you all notice. Please use it to the fullest.
I will leave the rest of the details to other people who were here as well.
Ok everyone here it goes:
As you are all aware of by now,we are about to go through some major changes over the next few months.
The above quotation seems to be 100% true.
I for one was NEVER told about any such changes in any way sharpe or form. I dont know one thing more than any of you all do.
I will be posting much more as I find it out for myself. I appologise for the chaos but as you can see we have all been left out of the loop on this one.
This is now our number one concern. How will we be effected by these upcomming changes?
Who wants to play World of warcraft??
that is weak i want the old Pre CU game back!

According to a post by Tiggs, unfinished padawan will get their "Elder" rewards. All it takes is one skill box in Jedi to be eligible. I'll let someone else find the post and make the clicky.
Thanks!

Everything sounds allright but jedi as a starter profession . This game will fill up with "uber leet" kiddies real fast ... Bad decision if they follow through with it ..
And , I agree with the guy saying this is going to ps3 console .... The faq mentions this game as hard ? a high learning curve which made new players quit ? lol , how about the game was slow and generally lacking meaningful content/loot and riddled with bugs?.These clowns need to go do some more research and hire people that wont tell them exactly what they want to hear. This game was easy to learn, it was tedious/boring to play due to "turn based combat" (which went from 5x speed precu to 0.5x post cu ).
I agree the game may be faster and alot more fun with this new version, but they just kicked every hologrinder/village grinder right in the teeth with a pair of muddy steel toe boats. 10 respecs and some robes/new saber? blah whatever... Oh wait , I forgot to mention elder tags weeeeee... SOE , your all a bunch of clowns , actualy , I guess this is LA's doing .. but had sony actualy listened to people in the first place , we wouldnt be getting a console unreal version of swg .
Regardless of other more major changes, I feel it's important that you guys take note of these 2 changes, from Tiggs thread:
Can anyone become a Jedi?
Yes, anyone can follow the path of the Jedi but like all professions mastery will require time and experience. The new Jedi profession will be equal in combat effectiveness with the other professions. It will still however deliver on the promise of the Star Wars Jedi mystique and will allow players to “live” as Jedi in the world of Star Wars Galaxies.
Will Bounty Hunter missions and other missions still be located on my datapad?
Yes, you will still see mission terminal quests on your datapad. However, there will no longer be Bounty Hunter missions that target other players, they are only NPC based going forward, and these will appear in your Quest Journal.

Sorry for the cynicism Bac.....but.....isn't it pretty obvious how we will be effected?
We are nothing more or less than everyone else and all the promises from Sony about our profession were just once and for all proven to be broken. So we adapt, become even more so just one of the masses and trudge on, or out.
The fact you did not know anythign at all about this is either a huge crime against you in the position you held, or a lie. I will say it is the former, not the latter. And as such, if I were you, I'd resign. There will be, what? 21, 22, other correspondnts looking for a job anyway, why not all new ones for the new mega nerf we are getting.
