Sorry I ruined your chances by tuning my second crystal to 101 -5..

No..I'm the guy that shows up at the Corsair POI and attracks the 5 kimos that camp the place all night.
I'm also the guy who between my wife and I have killed 12 straight Krayt with no loot whatsoever. (Including several giants and one Ancient) *shrug*
The 89 -7 tune was a fair crystal that I got from a player who left the game.

I've looted stuff off giants and adolescents in the past but that doesn't explain the ancients we've killed without loot either.

i saved all my post-CU junkers...when I am able to log I will try to jot down the stats...I have like 340 or so...

Well put...funny how all of my tunes seem to be right smack dab in the middle of both curbs.

Hmm, interesting. I had totally given up on these static spawn dragons.Did they drop stuff from the regular krayt loot tables? Also, I have found that a lot of times the so-called "randomness" of loot drops leads to major hot and cold streaks. It seems that when I get on a cold streak, my first intuition is to keep on killing cause I know eventually one should drop something.. but it often just leads to more and more empty carcasses. Best bet is to try again on a different day/time and hope to catch a hot streak.

Wow, it would be nice if those still dropped.

Can you tell us a bit more about how you calculated these percentages? How many crystals total did you have data for, and how many pearls? Was it roughly 150 / 150?

The distribution was roughly 200 Crystals and 125 Pearls. As the sampling number grew larger, the variations in data became smaller. This was especially true in the MEAN .. MEDIAN .. and STDEV numbers. I checked that data against a probability calculation and the integrity of the data looked sound. While its possible my numbers are skewed, I believe they are accurate as the game sits today. Also, I wanted to make surethe data wasn't contaminated. I took a careful look at mutlipe tunes and single tunes to see if a different pattern emerged. The data held up against both kinds of tuning.

Nice info - do you have any similar stats on the FC and / or speed mods from your testing?

There still seems to be a lot of confusion about tuning. While its true that tuning more cyrstals over time will increasethe chances of achieving a high tune, there is not a better chance of achieving a high tune by simply saving them up and tuning all at once. Nor is it true that tunes are simply random between the minimum and maximums. The tuning formula has been designed for what appears to be anormal distribution (most tunes will fall within the middle of the programed range). Premiums have a higher middle range than fair cyrstals and pearls. With decreasing frequency a tune will fall outside the middle range. For example the chances of getting a 110 damage tune on a good cyrstal is less than 1% and justslightly better for getting a 0 tune (yes, its possible to get abig fat goose egg). That's because fair /good cyrstals are weighted (distributed) towards the lower end of the scale. The opposite is true for premium and flawlesscrystals and pearls.
A question that I cannot definatively answer: Are crystals /pearlsstats determined when they drop or when they are tuned? My guessis that they aredetermined when they are tuned, meaning the tuningsub-routine is runonly when the cyrstal or pearl is tuned. This makes sensein a programming model since not allcrystals will be tuned. Also, if the tune was set atdrop that data would have to be stored either in a database or within the main program code. That model is ineffecient andcould quickly exhaustresources.
As you can see by the tables at the front of this thread, the chances of getting a tune above 90 will be difficult but not impossible.

I think the pre-set statistics question was put to be by those folks that tuned the same crystals/pearls after a server rollback and got different results.
