I am aure by this point some people at SOE have decided that SWG: An empire Divided was a good testing ground for what not to do for SWG: part 2. SWG started out ver well for the first 7 months until jedi fever hit, then the game took a turn for the worse. Everyone grinded like crazy to make jedi until almost everyone had a jedi alt. Jedi were fairly uber when the first came out then got nerfed to oblivion due to it being a "common" profession. My solution in SWG: 2 would be as follows.
SWG 2 should be placed between episodes 2 and 3. This idea brings out a plethora or options for factions to join and can also make for a much more vast serever( not as man servers needed this way). Your faction can be seperatist or one that is loyal to the republic. With a server so vast and with so many options available. I would believe unlocking a jedi would be a much more difficult task. Here is one way to make it.
If one wanted to become a light jedi you would have to join a loyal republic faction, then master specific professions while in that faction. Oh, and by the way, they will not tell us what these specific professions are so we may have to master all 31 while in that faction. We will know we have done those 4 by getting a screen message that says " leg one completed" or something to that effect. After your specific professions are mastered, you then must achieve the highest rank in that faction( which would be a serious of quests and xp on its own). That is leg 1 of the journey. Leg 2 is to join another faction, master 4 more specific professions then achieve highest rank in that faction. When you join a new faction it is the equivalent to re-rolling so you may have to do professions you have already done over again. This prevents making the jedi path an obvious one when you get to your new faction. Leg 2 completed when you get a screen message and achieve highest rank in that faction. There will be 5 faction loyal to the republic and you have to do this with all 5 factions giving you a grand total of 155 professions one might have to master, not to mention attaining highest ranking in each faction. This system forces the GCW to be very prevalent and actually mean something to everyone.
Once all 5 legs are completed, you are visited by someone on the jedi concil and inveited to train as a jedi, where you are then assigned to different factions to assist in battle or hunt down dark seperatist jedi.
Dark jedi will be unlocked the same way, only you ahve to do it in each of the 5 factions that are loyal to the seperatists. Once all 5 legs are completed, Darth Sidious os Count Dooku visit and you join thier cause. You are the same as light jedi with seperatist factions or you go into hiding and await time to show yourself.
Jedi will be uber. As in,15 people will not take one down. Jedi will be extremely rare. Would you master a possible 155 professions and attain highest rank in each faction for one? The game will be balanced if people know for the get go how ludicrously difficult the jedi path is. Most people will not walk this path, it is jsut too long. No way can I see a lot of jedi in this system. This system would even be difficult if they gave us holocrons for the first 3 professions then have to guess the 4th. I say no to holocrons all around but it ouwld still be really tough even if the devs lended a hand.
There is so much more depth that can be added to this game in the way of requiring pvp to attain certain ranks against other factions and what not. I feel when it is someone's possibilty to have a jedi on the line people are willing to do anything to try. /bow
this would take a VERY short time to do if grinding is the way it is now. divide 155 by 2-3 (per rpoffession... if u r a casual gamer lol)
thats about 78-79 (give or take a few)
But this is a great idea on the whole, it just needs soem tweaking... for soem it may take a while, but evntually everyone would have one again... but i do like this
P.S. I woudl rather have it in KOTOR times, i love HK-47 lol, i wanna be huntedby REAL assassins (the cool droids rofl)
"Condecending Explaination" i love that

*raises hand* What about the people that do have lifes?
That's the thing. Only the people who are rediculously dedicated to the game can do it. I would say the guys who make it to 4444 Guardian pre 9 are the type that would do it.
you want a swg 2 that works better use the KOTOR Time period wiping out the jedi should be rare argument. then you grind and grind away the jedi requirements to earn your second character slot, oh and heres where it gedt fun the second character slot is your jedi slot, you enter the academy as an initiate, and do all your FS work in the academy seperated from the rest of nthe game until you pass the padawan trials and are paired with a knight. would be tough game to put togqather and i would suggest that SWG use a game system that works such as a hybrid of the D20 game system.
you want content SWG, i suggest you look to wizards of the coast if you cannot come up with your own content, Wizards, Star wars RPG has tons of content to give you some ideas
umm grinding umm HAH only hard grind is bh investigation i know pwople who can grind allllllllllll 32 in 48 hours jsut need all the stuff
so No grinding involved and 15:1 cant beat the jedi.....can u say hell no thats just dumb why the hell would you play a game that u cant BEAT THE JEDI on even if you have 15 guys.
It took 3 clone troopers to kill Ki Adi Mundi so umm No jedi should be this "uber(aka. INSANELY STRONG)" talk about a terrible game dude i mean lets put it this way ..... would you buy KOTOR if Malak was unbeatable took 1 dmg for every attack had 100,000 little dead jedi to drain the force from ...i wouldnt

Thats the point, who would like to play that way? just teenagers with no lifes or people without jobs.
Some has connection with the force, some does not. But its hard to find a fair way how its suppose to work in a game.
One important thing is that it shouldnt be Jedi that is the only Alpha class.
The best way might be that every player has their own GM to creat the path to whatever profession you chose.
You start out as a non-working person and have to find a job/profession that suits you and that you want to level in.
During the time you play you will develop diffrent unic abilites and not everyone will lead to become a Jedi. If there was all kind of classes and not only Jedi as Alpha combat class I would consider everything else.
