Jedi is a starting class read the FAQ...
they are one of 9, people can respec to them, people might not start out with a saber in their hands, but they will have one soon.
No point in making it hidden anymore since it will be no stronger than a regular class

I think, advancement will be similar to Wow, you start as a cl1 and gain some xp until you get to cl 10. Beyond level 10 you will get 1 Skillpoint per level that you can spend in some sort of skilltree or something like that.That would explain, why the given respecs are cl based and not based on the number of skillpoints invested in your current template.
