I'll give it 1 year, 2 if they are lucky. They'll probably try one more revamp in 8 months or so, and then that will be it.

Old school Trek, Kirk era didn't... Think of it as pre-CU and post-CU. Post CU Trek got too touchy feely and PC.
Too bad STO isn't being based on Kirk era. I'd love to recruit some redshirts to be part of my landing party

3 months....
This was the final blow and their final chance for many. With bad reviews and a horrible game they dug a hole that they won't be able to get out of.

That is what I heard as well. The NGE is s desperate 4th and forever on your own 20 hail mary pass. Basically what we are getting is the early development of the core of SWG2. Unless the devs pull a miracle and somehow get this stable and balanced in 6 days (I don't expect it of them, and honestly, no one should, it's impossible) I see the game losing at least 30-40% of accounts, as vets (who almost all have multiple accounts) leave in large porportions.

I've heard those same rumors/murmurings. I'm not sure I believe them. Also this isn't an early core of SWG2, it is the beta for the DC comic core that SOE is developing. So we are the guinea pigs for that new game while SOE still has the liscense/captive audience, although with EA out of the picture (Japanese servers closed). I have no clue what is going on and what to believe. The only thing I do see is that this new system is a train wreck waiting to happen, good thing I'm riding coach(i.e. at the back of the head on collision, lol)

The trend I see is that everyone is tired of the constant changes and nerfs. The game has very little content regardless of expansions they add. Some huge Star Wars fans will last a bit to learn the system only to get board again in under a year... with the lack of customers, they may have a year after that happens.. the game may last for a bit on the Console platforms, but due to lack of interest, the servers will be shut down and it will eventually turn into a non internet base video game on playstation and/or xbox.
I love Star Wars, and loved this game as well as the friends I have made.... I hope I am wrong, but this is the honest truth of how I feel this game will end.

Well put, there will be no third attempt to save this game, this attempt comes on the heels of the last movie, what will there be to help push a third.
The first clue to the end will be server mergers

I think once the PC game magazines across the world do an exclusive about how SOE has screwed it's loyal customers AGAIN, it will really hurt sales of this new Starter Kit Tiggs lied about.
