In theory yes a rifleman can just keep 35m from you and shoot you to death but in reality terrain and lag will allow you to keep up with him. Most mls mdef temps have some enhancer meaning they have fr1, a root or a snare allowing them to keep up with kiters.

If a rifleman sets up 60m away from you, can't he just one-shot ya', move and keep out of your range?

I know my MBH/Rifleman can do this.

You mean one shot incap? Even without Aura running, the most I've been hit for with a rifle I think was like 1600 dmg. And ya, you could move and keep out of my range, but then all I have to do is move out of your range Since you are after me, I pretty much control what's going to happen where.

I'm tempted by MLS/MDef/Heal 3000/Enh 2000. I'm curious: how is high-end PvE without channel? How much down-time do you have on the Avatar or when fighting Krayts, for example?

i've grown some ballz and dropped force healing altogether...before you gawf....here's why

i have a precu saber with mod of 804 modified....and not speed capped on clothes (even if it meant anything) and accuracy capped...and also +25 healing efficiency and near 1200 power stims

735 max saber

mls/mdefender/4004 enhance

havn't got to test it out fully successfully....didn't have any stims in me inventory but at the pace he was whittling my health away in looksee at my force etc i would have bested him without much effort...he was carb/mbh/4000 cm definitly.

i chose this template cause my old template was insanely awesome with my saber for 1v1's only but in group battle i always got gunned down..first to take out...so no matter i can't take 3+ jedi or expireienced non-jedi solo....just need a few more seconds to deliver the pounding with the glow stick....with this template problems i incur is having to switch on and off fr due to dmg negation.....big plus is you can root ai...heal heal with stims /channel and get back in with aura / valor....i'll probably won't like this template all to much and go back to me previous template but trying to give it a go....the xtra force bump is awesome and i have to concur lol it tickles when they try their best to lay the dmg......

second testing was with a bit of a duel with swordsman/doc and i hung in there with him.....though i was geting abit low on force but could easily root and heal and channel for that bit much more....but he was burning through stims like he hasn't before....i was taking highest 669 dmg on new template on old around 1k max dmg.....

old temp mls/4040 defender/4020 healer/4003 enhance

new temp mls/mdefender/4004 enhance

MLS/MDef with healer 3000 and ehancer 2000 (or close)is awesome. might sound a bit "boring" at times to some players... but truth remains: if you want to be strong rather then do force stunts: that's the way to go.

Vayerbork is great , I use it all the time.

Force Valor... not really worth it imo it reduced your damage but like 20% and I dont like it.

dont really need that with aure+force infusion macro working on..

most BHs dont really scratch you so you dont need valor. you already have vayebrok which is more then decent.

I used valor rarely... mainly against Master rifleman or so which actually can dish you real damage but that's rare cause of the stupid fotm MCM templates these days.

I agree with OP. Even though I've just switched to MLS/4040 Def/3402 Enh/4000 Healer, I miss good ol' MDef/MLS/4004 Healer, 'cause I'm a PVE guy at heart. But the root and snare... I haven't *lost* to a BH without being AFK since the CU, but with root and snare, even a CM BH is a ton easier.

Gotta say though... the "Geez, this is nice" factor of Channel Force is offset by the "Sheesh" factor of NEEDING to use it because of Imp. FA. I've run out of Force more in the past two days than I ever did in 5 months as an MDef, though some part of that may just be the borked robes. I'd be hurting as an MDef, too, with the borked robes.

EDIT: And to answer questions:

How do you fight other Jedi without Channel? Very carefully Master Defender has very few active skills, and as such, has a very small Force Cost to bring to its full potential. You have 150 FP/45 seconds in Aura costs, and that's it. No 8% damage-as-FC for Force Armor, no 150 for a snare, no 200 for a root. MDef + 4xxx healer is the most awesome-sauce damage-absorber in the game. I've beaten dabbler and FOTM templates using only 1200-1800 of my Force Pool because I didn't have to heal as much and had the more effective Saber Throw offense/defense.

How do you stack up in high-end PVE without Channel? Unless you're carrying an Enhancer around in your group at all times, Robes are a must, and so are a few 5 minute downtimes while you regen. There's just no other way. But in a given fight, unless you start tossing off AI, you have plenty of staying time. Again, because MDef is not-at-all Force intensive, you use less than an Enhancer/Defender dabbler, and with two masteries, you have more to begin with.

Now I am (MLS/Mdef, heal 3xxx, ench xxx2) at the point when I understood what I can't beat. Opponent, who has same defense and saber speed/stats easily outdamaging me if he turns on force speed 2. I just have to heal more then fight in that case.

it is impossible to have 4 in healer and force speed 2 at same time if you have two masteries. And also...when you're in hi-end PvE stuff - force is ahuge factor and I like PvE no less then PvP. So loosing channel force is hard to accpet.

That's where I got lost...

Don't know... Maybe answer is to leave Mdef behind and become dabbler....

I really like the above mentioned template because you can use force suppression on target, run up, hit AI, and stomp him hard with attacks not worrying about healing. Knock him down and poor it on him and most BH with their stims cant keep up with the damage u are dishing on them if u have master sabers, a really good saber, and force speed 2.I like the blocking abilities for valor but dont like the dmg reduction which in my oppinion shouldn't be there. Keep Synth steak handy and drink tea, eat blob candy and dont forget booster blue and ruby.

Another excellent defender template is master defender/master saber/ healer 4040

Sap is excellent against the combat medic BH and jedi alike where your goal is to outlast the oponent through better defenses. The only prob with this template isvery slow and has no way to root oponent. One of the best pure tanking jedi professions.
