From browsing the forums it seems that a lot of people (TH included?) think that modded LS speed doesn’t work. I know that there was a test done some time ago, but I think that that test showed the wrong conclusions. To clear things up I did my own tests.

Test setup

My template involves LS0404, which means I have a lot more 2-h saber speed than doublebladed (DB)speed. To test if the modded speed works I constructed 2 sabers (one 2-h, one DB) that have the exact same base speed (and obviously different modded speed). I then cycled severel attacks for some time, and calculated the average time between attacks. If the modded speed didn’t work there would be no difference between the two sabers.

Results

Average speeds:

2-H DB

Base speed:2.28 2.28

Modded sp. 1.49 1.92

3 cycled att. 2.13 3

2 cycled att. 2.6 3

The 3 cycled attacks used was headhit, saberthrow and AB, the exact same sequence was used with both sabers. For the 2 attacks, only headhit and saberthrow was used. The reason why I get a slower speed using only 2 attacks is that the cooldown of the attack itself wasn’t complete every2nd attack.

Conclusions

Modded speed works as it should! Note: you will never hit as low as the "modified speed" when you are using a special attack, since thereis a delay multiplier for every special attack (both on its own timer an on the timer all other attacks cool down with)

first of all... I BELIEVE... it isn't the innate mod speed that is broken, i believe what is broken is speed attachmentes for jedi lightsaber speed. Great testing, but this has never been "the issue".

No it does not work as it should. However, usually jedi don't notice hitting painfully slow, because they are under the influance of Force Speed... or just blame the lag.

I am mls and have 1.65 modded speed on my saber. However, WITH a Force Speed buff of +20 Combat Haste I hit a bit slower than 2 seconds/hit.

I belived the spotted error/bug was where the componets installed into the lightsaber were not being applied correctly. Some of the test performed by myself and numerous other ahd shown that the speed of the lightsaber was actually the modified speed minus the installed componet enhancements. This was also being applied to the ForceCost for some time.

*

What we would do to correct this bug was unquip, open compartment then remove/add the componets and requip the lightsaber. After performing this function the lightsaber would then begin to attack at the modified speed and consume force at the shown level of fc.

*

I've recieved random tells after attempting to bring attention to this issue, more player seemed intrested in the ability to "overload" the lightsaber then to actually correct the bug, and all had expressed this was deffintly taking place. The primary function which causes this bug to manifest is loading via shuttle or crossing a server boundry.I loose function of all numerical keys when crossing a server boundry so I'm able to map them out at will for testing purposes.

*

Try logging in with your saber, DO NOT unequip or open saber, perform test and compile info. Then perfomr workaround mentioned above and redo test and compare info. The bug is not applying with the same frequency although it's still present.

*

The obiovus is when you're attack a creature with a saber that has a base spd of 2.3 and the player is a Lightsaber Master yet while toggling attacks they are not able to perform an attack faster then the modified speed minus the componets - this is more common then you would believe.

(my experiances show that my base speed is about equal to the modified speed without pearls.)

I dropped MLS and realized I missed a whole lot more. So I regrinded it. Just for those of you planning on dropping it. Just my opinion.
