anyone out there know if they stack....cuz i havent seen it in a while
Just in case you got lost in the sea of off topic replies, the answer is that they do!
Edit: Although, technically... they don't stack because they are different abilities. They do, however, both work at the same time.

actually man they do stack... aura does block some damage... at the release of CU it use to soak up a pretty good amount... now it is not so much... however it still stacks... but the amount aura soaks up like i said is lessed because of force armor
Willvas wrote:well what really should i say... everybody is telling you different things... first off...
improved aura gives you or should i say... suppose to give you +500 to your defenses... but at its current state DOES NOT.... i even tested... with and with out it you get missed about the same....
secondly aura does soak up some damage... but since it was nerfed from when CU first came out... it really doesnt soak up that much anymore...
when you activate force armor and aura it lowers the amount aura soaks up... but still stacks...
anybody who argues with me on this... didnt test like i have i am sure... i do have both... despite what my template says at the bottom... i have gone thru changes in my template to fit the need of SOE's nerfing....
i am just too lazy to change it to what it is now... that template at bottom is what i use to have the minute CU came out... it was kick butt... i was able to take on 5 normal profession people all at once till it got all nerfed to hell.....
The only things that ever got nerfed in MLS / Heal 4004 / Enh 2003 / Def 0044 are Force Speed (by 5 points) and the healing part.
Aura does not soak up damage in terms of pure mitigation percentage as Innate or Force Armor does. Aura soaks up a little damage because your defenses get pushed way above the attackers accuracy, and this means the damage inflicted before armor mitigations will get closer to the minimum damage of the weapon used. If you are experiencing less damage reduction by Aura now than you did directly after CU - that is because people are able to use better weapons than they could right after CU, and people are getting smarter and use weapons with high min damage in PvP, especially against Jedi.
Force Aura works and you do get hit less often, just to clear that up, also.

lol ok ... tell you what...instead of arguing with me like you know something... first off you are totally wrong...
sorry but my pre cu saber and my brothers pre cu saber did not change in damage dork....
test it...
if you dont believe me... dont sit there and argue like you know what i am talking about... arguing like some noob...
go test it...
2 jedi...
same saber...
turn off aura...
nothing on... swing the damm saber.... wow damage pops up... 900 damage...
turn on aura... swing the damm saber... wow damage pops up... 890 damage...
these numbers are only off the top of my head...
go test it... you will find out IT DOES...
and when we did the same test ... just as CU was released.... it did soak up more damage... and yes they did change it... you ever hear of a thing called "SILENT NERF" SOE is famous for them...
i have played since launch and do KNOW SOE IS CAPABLE AND HAS DONE IT IN THE PAST....

Dont start name calling, please.
Other than that, as far as I know the numbers you mentioned are to be expected for LS and have always been that way.
But can you please give a general idea of how much higher the mitigation was right after CU according to your tests and if your brother is using any accuracy tapes / foods now that he didnt use back then?
my bad... just get tired of people always arguing with me...
nope same outifits.. hes a wookie so he does not get much in tapes....
i have had the same stuff since pre cu to post cu and have not even attempted to change accept the melee d and ranged d clothing... which in my opinion does jack crap...
we are talking anywhere from 50 to 100 damage it soaked up... its why i took defender 0044 in the first place.... i dont remember thats a long time for me...
i believe it was more closer to 100.... its also why i never took force armor either...but now which is why i picked it up... dropped half of my valor for force armor and dont have 0004 heal anymore
This is because the Aura is pushing the damage done by the saber down to its minimum value. However in the case of Lightsabers (pretty much exclusively) this is right up there by the max damage (like 600 something min to 700 something max). Thus, the actual damage figure being applied to work out the amount mitigated is relatively similar. This in turn, relates to only a small increase in defence against something like a Lightsaber.
Now, try this same experiment against any normal profession weapon, which will usually have a few hundred points in damage between the minimum and the maximum. You will notice that the effect is much greater since, instead of hitting at max damage (900-1000 for example and being applied) the aura is pushing the damage level close to the minimum (due to high defense vs lower accuracy). In this instance you will see a big difference in the damage you recieve. The only time the above will not hold true is if the attacker is really stacked up on accuracy foods/drinks/tapes etc, since it will be much closer to the defense figure given from something like Aura. In this instance, the mitigation would again be smaller.
Now Force Armour, just works as pure mitigation, adding a bonus to your innate armour (+40 jedi innate = 4000 Resist) to mitigate all incoming attacks, as the cost of force points (8%???) as a percentage of the damage soaked up.
In essence, you will see with FA2 on, you will have at least 6k resist armour across the board (Assuming no defender) so mitigate all hits to a percentage of the potential damage. I think at 6k this is about 48%. With Aura on as well, the number originally mitigated by the FA2 will be smaller, since the acc v def difference will be so great, again presuming the weapon has a high difference between min and max damage).
Hope that makes sense....
so do yall think that force amor and force aura would be a good enuf defense in pvp...im not really worried about any other kind of combat
make you slightly betetr defensivly than a TKM, but less than a Mdef maybe.
I'm going MLS, Enh 44x4, Def xx4x, Healer 41xx, i think. Which gives the best in force defense: feedback,
absorb and shield stack

You can use both at the same time no problem. They are different mods, however, so there's really no concept of "stacking" involved - IFA gives +4000 armor (40 innate), while aura gives +500 defense.
To the people who think that aura provides armor as well - it doesn't. Damage is mitigated through the accuracy/defense calculation meaning that the more defense somebody has relative to your accuracy, the less you will hurt them. This is the effect you notice when you take less damage with aura on.
