What is your point?

I think youguys need to understand that the "Jedi professions" cannot and should not be compared to ANY other profession. It is a profession all by itself. It is not that way because of the power it has or doesn't have. It is not that way because of the difficulty of getting it or difficulty grinding it.

Jedi is unique because it is suppose to be RARE! It is suppose to be a profession that is a "reward" to the deadicated gamer! It is not a reward in the UBER PvP since, but a "reward" in that you EARN something that others do not have.

I think you all think that Jedi are suppose to be the ULTIMATE UBER PROFESSION and that is not entirely the case. Master Jedi should be a REALLY tough profession, but not that much tougher then any other 250 skill point profession that it takes groups of 10 - 15 people to take out.

Jedi is hard, VERY HARD to ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to master, soley because it is to be RARE! Being rare does not then equate to being UBER.

IMO.

My point was to the MBH declaring BH was hard, and that unless you've done it you shouldn't cry nerf on BHs.... the point was not to compare BH to Jedi, perhaps I could have used examples of regular profs that are harder, such as Merchant, Dancer, Musician, Image Designer, Politician.

Basically, this is just another post asking to have BHs nerfed lol. Some silly ones that I've seen recently...

1. Make BH lose investigation boxes and/or xp upon mission failure

2. Move Jedi missions to MBH (Nobody would be saying this if Jedi didn't have 85% Saber Block)

3. Double/Triple the difficulty of the BH grind

4. Allow BH's to be hunted by Jedi

5. If a BH fails a mission, that BH cannot hunt that particular Jedi for x amount of days

6. Melee BHs should be non-existent (Dabblers are too effective)

Silly Jedi...

Most old school BH have had longer grinds than Jedi...like, no shuttles, or vehicles, and mostly white and non-showing marks. Most of those things are different now, but BH investigation is still the single hardest tree to grind. (Non FS, although 18000 investigation has to equal at least a couple million Jedi xp)

If any class should be able to go toe to toe with a Jedi, it is an MBH.

remember the first 10k of investegation is actually quite easy. actually i got to about 10500, since i capped at 10k, got another same planet mission, trained inv 1 and 2, then did that mission. AS first tree grind was harder for me, so was the first tree in merchant, though i hadnt 20 guildies running from vendor to vendor for me.

The Investigation tree is a hard grind for a NORMAL profession. You can't grind it out in a day, or even a week, like other professions, and you cannot AFK it. It's rough.

Of course the Jedi grind is harder, but think about it. You have the coolest profession in the game, you are very powerful and you, acording to the timeline, should be extinct. That is why your profession is so much harder to master. Bounty Hunter is a normal profession, there is no reason for it to be so much harder then any other ones.

/agree - well said.... "some" form of balance here is required.

Bounty Hunter should be just as hard to get as Jedi, and equal in PvP. After getting force sensitivity and finishing the village, players should be able to choose wether or not to follow the jedi ways or betray them and become a bounty hunter. WIth this, BH should receive new armor/weapons/specials, that will make them amount to jedi in PvP. BH should be feared in PvP, even by the best. I would mind seeing some people run from a BH like they do Jedi.

The path to MBH is not easy. It is not as hard as Jedi, but it is not easy. I feel that MBH deserves more seperation from the others who dabble in the profession for the ability to hunt Jedi.

As a former MBH I can agree that the path to MBH *USED* to be hard as hell. Back before vehicles and mounts we had to hoof it to frequently bugged missions. INV payed out a whopping 1% per kill as opposed to the ten it does now. Player cities? Yeah right, have fun on that 8k bounty mission. What to do with the, what was it, 17 points we had left over at MBH? M.Scout and M.Marksman ate that up nicely.

It was a time when people who made it to MBH were hardcore grinders. But then, something happened. First came vehicles, then the Investigation XP increase, all the while we speculated how Jedi would be handled. Would they be MBH only missions? Many thought so, hoped. But then, the first jedi appeared and lo and behold, it was not limited to MBH.

The class was further turned into a joke when they dropped M.Scout as a req. Suddently a lot more skill points were available and at that point the "ENTIRE" class changed from a profession that was "offensively" powerfull with few defenses to the dabblers dream.

So don't sit here and cry that BH is hard, its no harder now than Dancer, music or ID. And it does not take time to master.

I agree the Jedi should lose XP for dying, but I am in the minority who believe that by accepting a jedi mission the BH faces consequences for losing, I am not suggesting he/she loose massive Investigation XP, but rather that the BH who loses get a three week TEF flag that prevents him/her from taking another Jedi mission. This TEF flagg should also apply to anyone in a gank squad who joins in.

This solution is punitive to the BH only in the sense that they have to be more prepared next time (3 weeks later). If you want to call it something RP'ish, have the BH guild revoke their jedi hunting license as punishment for X amount of time.

MBH took me 1 1/2 months to grind out.
Jedi Paddie took me 10 Months to Get.
I would have to agree with you here, but now you dont need MBH .. just get TKM and investigation 3 w/ any other profession polearm, pistol, rifle or carbine.. yadda yadda yadda.. takes you less than 3 weeks.
Besides we Jedi are opertaing on the Combat Balance system and every other profession is'nt. So go figure.

This statement is false, Jedi are not operating on the combat balance for the simple reason that when the Jedi got their skills the combat balance was not even designed. At best the devs used a set of numbers they thought might be in the combat balance, but as we now know the whole combat revamp has pretty much started over from scratch in the last couple of months, well after key aspects of Jedi was finalized. The devs were expecting at least a year initially for the revamp. A lot can change in 12 months.

Consider that software takes months to go through its lifecycle. From design, to prototype, to testing, rinse and repeat, release. Jedi numbers probably were set as early as April 2004, maybe march. The combat balance in contrast was shelved during that time with no major design movement until summer. At the most the fan fest jumpstarted some aspects, but the major event was the correspondent summit. Even then the devs were just in september setting up a test server to help them design and finalize numbers.

Case in point, say buffs are cut by 50% after extensive player testing. Jedi use buffs just as much as other players. A cut in buffs of 50% would have as much affect on Jedi. Therefore any balancing related to buffs would be of great concern to Jedi.

It is foolish to think that Jedi are somehow pre-balanced, or that the profession will not also undergo potentially radical change once the combat revampe goes into testing.

There are no guarantees that Jedi skill balance will look anything like today in 8-9 months time.

If it makes you feel better though when you get killed by a BH you are welcome to your delusion, just be prepared for change when the revamp kicks into high gear.
