Thread: can a post CU saber ever be better than the top pre-cu sabers?

post cu sabers can be just as good as pre-cu sabers, it's the pearls therein that make the saber better or worse
base saber stats on pre cu sabers are better and would require 16 pts experementation as said above.
Bull... Post cu saber can be made better.. My post cu saber is a little better then my pre cu saber so yes they can be.. Only difference is the speed on my pre cu saber is .13 faster then my post cu... Only difference

While Lauke is right in the biggest difference being achieved from the pre CU pearls - pearls looted now cannot compare with the damage and low FC of pearls looted pre CU, you cannot match the base stats of a pre CU saber with a post CU saber. We should with the same resources and food bonuses and success rolls be able to craft a comparable base saber - maybe even slightly better with the addition of Jedi xp SEAs but we cannot. This is purely because we have 3 lines to experiment on (Damage, Efficiency and Speed) rather than the 2 lines (Damage and Efficiency) that pre CU Jedi had and so not enough xp points, even with a +2 suit to achieve this.I personally hope to see the sabers balanced out - the difference coming from the pearls you have been able to loot and tune. If this means an increase in our sabers - then great but if not then all sabers need to be brought in line one way or the other. This is particularly important if the new FRS does involve an element of PvP to advance. Without balance, the top ranks will be populated by the pre CU Jedi and that will be no fun.
Cheers,
I disagree Arede, I have to say that I made 1 saber post cu and it was a nice 1handed. The saber had 1 less FC, 20 more damage, and 5 more est dps.
(tip to n00b jedi, get the saber to cap on fc then exp on dmg, dont do speed. Because even if you have 2 or 3 more dps, your sac will go up too
yep and i can prove it
right now my saber stats are 710 max 1.20 speed 711 dps with 17 force cost and i dont have very good pearls in it and it is a post cu saber.

when comparing sabers you have to take the pearls out. if i have a 300-400 damage saber it is better then a 100-200 damage saber, but if the second has 100 damage crystals and mine are 25, my saber will end up being 400-500 while the second is 500-600.
we are not comparing crystals but sabers.
think of crystals as powerups
My pre-cu saber doesnt have a perfect pearl in it and its 715ish dps with 9 fc
I havent seen a post cu saber with that kind of damage and force cost. Ive seen either or but not together.

I have post and pre, and a post I have is 625-721, 9FC. It is not impossible at all...the only real difference between post and pre is going to be that you can not easily cap one of the three areas. Usually people are going to cap eff/dam and leave speed, which means post CU are slightly slower which is basically irrelevant.
