Galaxies might be crowded with jedi/fs but since it hasn't been released I dont know.

Everybody and their mother will be jedi I think or maybe Bounty Hunter or perhaps Smuggler... Heck honestly I really dont know the tendencies of other players.

Timeline seems in order.

Economy has changed, too soon to tell if for the better or worse.

This is not what theI wanted Mr. Lucas, you screwed it up this time bad.

JEDI AS ASTARTER PROFESSION SHOULD HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE FROM THE BEGINNING OF SWG.

Beginning of a new era forSWG.

May I ask why you say all that work was for nothing?

Imean you did have fun getting to Jedi right? Sure some aspects of "the grind" may not have been as good as others but you must have enjoyed some of it.

All this does is give everyone the chance to enjoy the game. Veterans can still go (blue/glowy) to show off there elite status if you want to call it that.

Besides inital reports point to this has changed the game to a more skill based game, if so you may have ample oppurtunity to show how much better you are.

every game ive ever played has shown that the more you put into it, the better reward there is. Human instinct even tells us that man.

So for this to be gone as in jedi being completely equal, kills alot of people...post cu and cu jedi alike. thats the problem.

Its sort of like....hmmm...well say u went for a job, and you have a bachelors deg, and someone is just out of high school. They get paid the same as you in the same position...thats the best way i can describe it....

While I agree with you, the more work you put into something the better the reward should be, no other game has as great a reward to so many star wars fans as Galaxies has with only the "elite" being able to be Jedi.

Most games its a better sword or flashier mount etc..Even if itis a different toon, what kind of toon on any other game has captured the attention of so many fans as a Jedi could?

The biggest difference between this and the Real Life circumstance you presented is in RL you spent thousands of dollars more to recieve your bachelor's degree.

In this game we all had to buy the game and we all have to pay the monthly.

So by all means have a different color LS or perhaps a higher damage one. Or whatever the Dev's can come up with to reward your achievements. But at least give others the chance to have their fun.

The problem most people are upset about is that SOE is changing the rules of the game far too often. They are on a trial-and-error crusade, things that are here might not be here tomorrow, without notice, and you cant do that to an RPG.
Players build their characters and advance them. Players get attached to their characters, and those characters have a history. SOE is messing with this history - what has a pre-pub 9 Jedi to show after NGE? A new robe? He ground out his Jedi because he wanted to achieve what was Jedi in the system back then, not to get a new robe. Thats one of the main reasons people left the game - they couldnt rely on SOE to protect their characters good enough to warrant a long-term investment into the game.
Instead of becoming more reliable to keep the customers they already have, SOE now went the other route and pretty much accepts to lose the long-term customers in hopes to attract lots more short-term customers that want Battlefront with their own house - of course making sure that the current customers bought the expansion so they have enough money to be able to cover the distance from NGE release to Christmas.

YES YES!!

Thats a HUGE point. TOO MANY CHANGES!

I HATE it when people change the rules of a game mid stream. and they did it 2 times in one year...you kill your customer base that way..

Once again, I do not think this was SOE's call. I think Lucas Arts is driving this for the very reason you stated: short term customers. Get em in, get em going, have them looking for the next game.

Quitters never win, winners never quit, but those who never win AND never quit are idiots.

I told my 11 year old son that he'd be able to respec to Jedi thinking he'd be over the moon about it. He said 'wow, that's gay. I'm not respeccing to jedi, it won't be special anymore.'

who cares how 'special' it is. what, you want the short speeder or soemthing?

im so tired of the elitest attitude of so many jedi.. 'ooooo, look at me, i unlocked before you so im better'

what a bunch of short saber dillholes. it's a toon in a video game. dur... im glad anyone who wants to play jedi can, and the ones who are jedi just to be better than everyone else are crying...

and for the record, ive been here since launch, unlocked a day or 2 after the cu, and i hope everyone gets to play the class the want to play.

To be honest, I dont really care if it was SOE or LucasArts. As far as I am concerned, the last CU was SOEs fault, LA just forced them to push it live early - the basic design, however, was SOEs job as far as I am concerned.
NGE on the other hand probably was designed by them both, LA saw subscription numbers dropping and stepped in, and Sony needed to dumb down the design to make it attractive to PlayStation 3 gamers so they have at least one game of every genre when the hardware is released.

He speaks for me and many, many people like me. Just read the boards. If you don't like that reality, go off to the kiddie FPS you came from.

Well, it depends on what you mean by skills.

Raph Coster, the original creative behind SWG regarded skills as the ability to fine, make, loot equipment, armour and weapins and then use a sophisticated tactical and strategic combat system to kill your enemy;

Julio Torres, the creative behind the NGE, regards skills as being the 'hand-eye' coordination required for arcade and console FPS games.

See?
