i too disagree that master sabers or defenderare worthless, however i really like the template you came up with and i think it would be very viable in pvp

by this logic mastering anything is worthless, +500 force and +5 regen this is a difference maker. But how can enhancer or medic be compared also (when using powers master is almost essential), so is dabbling the most effective way. Perhaps, only max force causes an issue.

I dont usually like to flame strangers but you are a complete morron. MLS and MD are great. Im that template and cant see a reason to drp it and I pvp all the time. I dont get touched by non jedi templates, any of them. Master Defender without AI is uber you dont get touched when you couple it with the proper foods BE clothes and PSG. Furthermore with MLS I can certainly dish out enough damage to drp these new BH templates with the good mind regen and the MLS also adds even more block. You need all the damage and accuracy you get can get fromMLSto be able to do damage now. Its true I have a pre-cu saber with all prem pearls but thats because I earned it and got my Jedi very early on. Im not one of these respec nubs like you that have no idea what there talking about.

Man I came up with that template a long time ago and I am not even a Jedi yet. I just readupon each of the five masteries and came to that conclusion.

PS: Yup checked my future Jedi on my calc editor and it is MEnhancer, Def 0040, LS 0404, PWRs 0400, HLR 4000.

Not only will it be a decent fighter, but most importantly it is a FUN template.

i finally came to settle with:

M.Enhancer, LS x44x (or x4x4), Healer 4xxx, Powers x4xx, Defender xx4x

That is my template, and will continue to be until the frs is back. I'm very happy w/it atm, structurally solid and first and foremost..fun

I don't know how much of a cookie-cutter template MDEF MLS is yet, as far as I know it's MLS 0400 powers 4000 healer 0040 def 3002 enh.

but I have 2 jedi, one MLS MDEF and one is the bottom template. I love both, but the MLS DEF with a 740 DPS saber makes the template godlike.

Channel and meditate are unnecessary at that point, my force regens very fast. Other then not havingroot I think it is one of the best template out there.

As for my Master Enhancer: FORCE ARMOR SUCKS! Your force is gone every other minute, granted I have a 15 FC saber, it's still no excuse. There's no doubt cloaking and FR3, regain conc and stasis make up for it, as I find the template to be some of the most fun I could have imagined, but to argue with the initial post - MDEF MLS (if you have a saber worth while) is DEFINETLY worth it.

Well I must say the numbers don't lie. I am sure that may show a bit more reward for the mastery boxes, but nothing worth all the skill points. I honestly do not know what SOE is doing. I am a full template Jedi and play my alt MBH/MCM at the moment cause I am not only as tough or tougher, but I don't have to worry about running out of force on tough mobs. The state of Jedi is pathetic. We all bicker among ourselves about skills nerfs, but in the end, if you take the best from jedi, you still have a hard time against a good non-jedi. Lets face it, we are so broke we may never get fixed

That is how it should be. Jedi's should be x1.5ish more powerful, however a good non-jedi pvper should still stand a chance. I'm sorry but just because you have ground out more than the average template does not mean you get an "I-Win!" button.

thanks for the constructive replies guys, sorry that my title was less so. Hope i didn't upset you all too much. i suppose i can look at these templates with tinted glasses - i've a good income from my AS alt and a very supportive guild to help with aquiring SEAs - the foundation to the template i suggested. The idea of not needing M.LS (despite the very obvious lack of a hard hitting ranged KD) came from my various re-templating with my BH alt - SEAs are cheeper and easier to get hold of to test the lack of master boxes in terms of lacking speed or accuracy. irrespective to the saber damage or speed i use - i can rely on speed tapes to make me nearly asviable as a MLS. i figure that if i perhaps loose 200pts damage and a ranged KD from only having 2 trees of LS compaired to Master i should thenhave to spend the points saved elsewhere, compensating withextra defenses/damage output that would equate to 200+ damage lost from the master LS attacks. in the end it all comes down to playing style, but if you have a template that damages the most, has the most defenses and can handle people well you have a good starting base.

it was the loss in M.LS damage output that started my though of the viability of M.Defender - the extra armor and melee defence could have more that out weighed the "200pt damage" loss vs M.LS. but the more i play in PVP the less armor seemsusefull unless it can be armor-break reduced - like most BHs that come now. it seems that in every PVP battle i get in the first or second attack is armorbreak - effectivly it reduces armor's effectivness by upto 65%. so at least in my experience, armorbreak puts alot of pressure on the 61 skill points taken to get master Def over only def xx4x. my entire guild only rely on Def xx4x as a rule for armor defence so i'm missing little by not having it there in comparison anyhow.

what seems unfair in terms of both Jedi & TK innate armor is the complete lack of any sort of defense against an armorbreak hit - all armorwearing non-jedi can get theirs sliced for upto 75% resistance (or chance of hit, depending on how it works).

i guess alot of my template choices also are restricted by other demands too - gotta have cloak, gotta have force speed 2, gotta have channel, gotta have healer 4xxx, gotta have improved aura (especially vs BHs), once all thats in there's already little space for movement. somethings got to give somewhere and some things i can't live without.

M.defender is only a little better than xx4x defender in PVP

What? Have you played a Master Defender in PvP rofl.

I'd roll over xx4x Defenders with my alt in a second. You have just a tad bit over 500 Defenses, prepare to be hit for near full damage with my rifle if you plan to take that template against me (1300 max damage btw)

lol 1300.... those 500 defenses will bring your max dmg closer to the minimum dmg of your rifle, sry bro , you sure you pvp alot?

the best thing about m-defender.. is that it gives you plenty of time to react to a BH attack. when i get attacked the only worry i have is running out of force.. i rarely have to heal myself against a BH/cm..BUT after about a 1/2 hour of fighting i get down to about 1/4 force and luckly i havent had to go longer then that. i WAS having alot of problems with lag so my target is always "too far" to damage even when KDed and at my feet.. i like the m-saber/m-def combo, the only thing different i would want is a 2nd ranged attack for those days when i'm lagging. maybe if you dont have high damage perals and crystals you should consider m-powers instead of sabers.

You also have to take into account the various buffs offered in those professions.

Imp. Force Aura
Imp. Force Armor
Imp. Force Speed
- to name a few -

You cannot compare 215 ranged defense to 50, you need to compare 715 ranged defense to 550. Looking at this, the percentage loss has far less of an impact.

You cannot compare 70 innate armor to 30 innate armor (you forgot the +20 from Jedi Initiate), you need to compare 70 innate armor to 70 innate armor (+40 from Imp. Force Armor). Granted, the Force Armor drains Force every hit and you need to play accordingly.

You cannot compare 100 LS speed to 75 LS speed - you need to factor in Improved Force Speed.

Same goes for Force Heal, Stasis, Adv. Force Run, Imp. Force Suppression and all the other goodies the first template you mentioned does not have.
