I'm 0044 Defender but I have force armor.
If I were 4440 defender I wouldn't drop anything for sap.
I'd take 4040 defender over 0040 defender and 0040 healer assuming no force armor.
But then I took 0044 defender over 0040 defender and 0040 healer. However if you're more of a duelist than a pvper sap would be a better choice than valor in my opinion.
Hope this is making sense.
Whoever said the extra block isn't worth the fourth box of defender when you're master saber, you're wrong. Your saber block is twice as effective with Valor. It brings it from 25% block to 50% block.

Nice to know that. Valor is another skill I have never had. In my original post I was asking if Valor or Sap was worth dropping Mel Def Line for. I would think in a large setting pvp arena that volor would do wonders with 5 people shooting at you. I do find myself solo more and more nowadays as most of my guild are not big pvpers.

Valor is pretty good as it now against ranged but if and when it gets fixed I don't see it being all that great anymore. Even in the skillset it clearly states that it increases your blocking chance at the expense of greatly reducing your damage output. At this time valor usehas no dmg reduction like it should. I'm not sure if I would drop the ranged line vs states in defender to get valor, I kinda like the extra innate but to each is his/her own.

That's a myth. Pre cu that was in the description but it's not any more. Correct me if I'm wrong.

They nerfed it about the time the respecs were done. I've still got it but I'm too lazy to grind out of the negative to change it.

Also, the original poster doesn't even have it in his temp, fyi.

no not a character builder, I was not in game but logged in just to verify again. Says, "increases blocking capability at the cost of greatly reducing damage capabilities." So I guess for all you mdefs and valor users its a bonus hopefully you won't feel the bat again.

Well if they do put a damage reduction in there, I'll have to suck it up and grind out sap because it works wonderfully now. Perhaps what I had read was that the text was in there incorrectly post curb.

Hmm.

I found the old link for when the cu jedi info was first given out. It reads.

Force Valor adds directly to a Jedi's Saber Block stat. The basic version adds +15 and the improved version adds +25. This ability has a Force cost on the initial use and will also drain Force as you block attacks. Currently it is not reducing offensive capabilities like its description states, unknown if this is a bug or not.

So much for it saving force costs from your armor not getting hit.

Here's that link.

What is the rest of your template? I have considered also picking up Sap. Currently my temp is 4440Def/MLS/3000Healer/4002Enhancer. I have considered dropping the Ranged Defense line in Defender, but do not want to do it just yet, because I do not want to lose my innate armor. I dunno if Jedi Innate Armor is that big of a deal, but I know the Ranged Defense is pointless because a lightsaber isn't a Ranged Weapon. I didn't even bother with the Valor line either, because at MLS it doesn't matter if you have it or not.

But my question is...will not having the Ranged Defense line in my template make me easier to kill period?

My template is Master Sabers, Defender 0440, Healer 4040, and Enhancer 3002. Again, I have no problems with BH. There is an issue with the TKM / Master Swordsman / Doctor 4000 though, as I have lower melee defence.Quite frankly, Center of Being coupled with double melee profession is a lot of melee defence, and thats just hard to get around.

Lol, realy funny Fiav. If you will notice your health bar, Force Sap is not affecting you. At the time, I had just gotten Master Sabers, and my template was far from complete. You should have facts before you speak Fiavaim, I did not have Force Sap at that time. Also, if you will notice in my post, I said it works well against MCM and CM 4000, but nothing is mentioned about Jedi. There is not a single template that will rule against allprofessions and combo of professions, and as I told you, I have lag problems in Kachiro, but you are not willing to listen to someone that your guild stabbed in the back, mutliple times.

would i stand a chance against BHs withjout any defender at all?

It became FOTM when ppl realized that Improved Aura and Improved Forcearmor stacked defense.
