Thread: What is the purpose of forced pvp?

omg. im so sick of these posts. jedi is so easy now its full of whineing carebears.
Do you really need 5 lightsabers in your sig?
I think it was implemented to keep everyone from becoming a Jedi. It made the path harder, longer, and generally more frustrating for people that were impatient and/or less than knowledgeable about Jedi gameplay.
Given the number of Jedi and flames on this board, I'd say the former reason was a failure, but the latter reason has been relatively effective.

This is a question out of honest curiosity. What doesforcedpvpaccomplish? What does it do other than dump gasoline into the hate fire between Jedi and Bounty hunters? There is no perma-death anymore. There are no factional TEF's. There is still xp loss, but what does it matter at the rate we can gain it back? Again stating the question, what purpose does this serve?
Man if every one was forced to PvP from the get go of character creation then we wouldn't have all this b!tching over it. Every one would be numb todying to a playerand more then willing to gank squad the bajeezus out of the enamy at every turn. I played WoW for a few months to see if it would stick and I have been slaughtered by just about everything out there. And I've helped kill and have killed with as little mercy as the other guy. over there players are seesntially weined onto PvP after lvl 16 or so and I have never heard any complaints about it beyond the usual trash talking. Forced PvP needs to come back in full force with a blatent progression from one zone to another.
well in theory its supposed to be part of the reason you go jedi. its not "forced pvp" more than going overt is forced pvp. being hunted is not meant to be a deterrant to being a jedi, not meant to make your life harder, its supposed to be part of teh game style you want to play with jedi. its voulenteering to be the robbers in cops and robbers
if you went jedi but dont like getting hunted it was a mistake. i dont like to say that, but its true. being hunted is one of the aspects of the class, not a punishment. the game dosnt care what you think jedi life should be like...being a jedi in the game is what it is. if its different than your vision of what youd like to the point that its makeing you hate the game, stop forceing your self to deal with it. you can drop jedi and be something you enjoy. i dont understand why people force themselves to keep playing something they obviously dont enjoy.

Your argumentation reminds me of what the kindly put "people that were sceptical about the usefulness of ranger" said. It is what it is, leave it and move on.. Well, the ranger community still hung in there, fighting for what they believed in, their "perception" of the profession, and the revamp is nowin the works. It's nothing like the initial intentions the devs had with the profession, but they took a lot of the tons of great ideas the community pushed for and formed it into a new profession, because the creaturecentric thing wasn't viable.. it cut the rangers out of over 50% of the games content and that, much like precubeingstuck dizzy laying on your back while a tkm is pounding youwas just not fun.
Do you understand?
