Taken from a students perspective, or somoene who doesn't do much other than play games, XP gain is very fast. However for someone that can at best manage 2 hours a day, the XP gain is much lower
u aint kidding
my character from a month ago is cl 17
slow it much more and i would be cl 5
there u happy now ?? go die alrdy

Why they turned back to current XP rate ?!?!?!?! Coz grinding isnt a content of this game. Im pre -CU Jedi aswell but done most of my grind post -CU and all i can say is that its much faster now and thank god for that... Give me more time to do quest/missions/PvP in other words it gives me time to do content of the game.

It all depends on the perspective you look at this from. Taken from a students perspective, or somoene who doesn't do much other than play games, XP gain is very fast. However for someone that can at best manage 2 hours a day, the XP gain is much lower. In that 2 hours they need to find a spin group and then deal with things like members leaving and then not having enough to continue grinding.
I say keep things as they are because if you think things don't take long enough, then you clearly have too much time on your hands to play SWG. Again thats just an opinion from my perspective. A casual gamer friendly environment is nothing but a good thing. You could quite easily spin the argument around and say the power gamers are runing it for the casual gamers by calling for XP gain to be slowed down and the like.
Being blunt though, is that not just the penalty for playing the game less?
I can understand the need for casual players to see progress, but you can't expect progress to be skewed in their favour so much that the addicts master elite professions from start to finish in less than a day.
I am not a fan of artificially benefiting those that "have no life" and play the game practically 24/7, but there should be some reward for them for their effort. If Jedi had actually been as hard to get and maintain (with perma death, etc) as it was in the Good Ol' Days(tm) then it would be held in the high esteem it was meant to be, instead of now where its glowstick central in MO, Dant.
That's a seperate argument really - but it's one that follows naturally from the current XP system. Right now Jedi is the hardest profession to attain simply because its gated. 30:1 combat XP conversion is trivial when you consider the millions of XP you can rack up in a decent spin group.

No offence then but you're looking in the wrong places for XP. I've seen people go from CL5 to CL17 in an hour or so.

Back pre CU when you got a profession it meant something, now a days you can grind a profession in less than a day and move on to the next.
Why? Experience points are wayyy easy to get. Get in a good spin group and watch TV.
Solution: If you changed the game completely and the way PvE works, then your going to have to adjsut the XP requirment for Professions to fit the current system.

They tried it a little while back and the forums bitched like they have never bitched before.
I completely forgot about that. lol Same thing that happened with Jedi, now look at us. and ppl tell me to stop flaming all the cry babies. Heck no im not gonna stop flaming them, their ruining the game, look at it now lol.
The difference was that the previous XP nerf was a 98% reduction. It was done without any warning, testing or a post from a dev.
That to me shows nothing but disrespect for the playerbase.
