Actually, the prequel to DnL ("Settlers of Ganareth") will be starting around Nov. 15th. No initial buying price, no monthly fees for 6 months. The developers will open up the game world for the first non-beta players who will be the first ones to explore the DnL continent (3 areas at first, new areas will be opened up as soon as players complete some epic quests as far as I understand it), build the first villages, conquer the first fortresses and build up the basic crafting and politics infrastructure, while the devs patch in more and more pieces of the final "Dark and Light" game that will be available free of charge until April 2006. In April 2006 this world that was shaped by the "Settlers of Ganareth" will become the starting environment for the main game "Dark and Light". Nice idea to fill the time between the initial release and the delayed release date
