Thread: Star Wars Newsletter Today..
Sorry about double-posting but I just read this kids post,
You think we are being negative? Read you're post, flamer.
So unlocking the FSCS is truly inorganic then, they aren't chosen, it's just inorganic, there's really something that we do or collect that gets us to FSCS? How are master architect/master musicians like me supposed to get the FSCS then?
And for the official newsletter..
Lots oLots of things are happening this month in Star Wars Galaxies. On October 31th, we launch the game in the United Kingdom (followed up next month with several other European releases). Game Cards will be available in stores by the end of next week. Our third major update is now on Test Center. Two of our largest additional features, Player Cities and Mounts, are soon to go on to test. And finally, there are a couple people getting dangerously close to unlocking the mysterious Force Sensitive Slot. Look for a press announcement when that monumental achievement is reached for the first time.f things are happening this month in Star Wars Galaxies. hmmm. just thought of something. do you remember how the DEVS said that Vader will send people like Mara Jade to come get you when they realize you have the Force. I also remember Holo saying something about he didn't want the player to walk around and a sign just pop up like "ding" you are FS. He said he wanted to make a way that the player was AWARE they were connected to the Force. so far there hs been absolutely nothing to indicate that we are working on our meter, badge, blah blah blah.
could it be that the close we get, the more dangerous it gets, and good and evil seek u out. could we be in danger? that would certainly make me aware if I'm walking out in the wilderness and a 15k HAM NPC with 80 resists pops into my view and tells me somebody wants to see me. do i go, do i stay, does jenna-X with 2 tamed Gorax's come in and slay "my NPC".
Who knows.
My friend put me on a coat hanger once. Once.
not so good quote from Johnny Dangerously
People are close to unlocking their FS slot. This is a good thing. We should be happy. Can we please leave it at that? I don't seem to understand people's perverse fascination with picking apart every word and detail. The devs after all are human too.
Something good is about to happen. I'm going to keep my nose in the forums and sign up for the newsletter ... after I do that, I'm going to smile.
Yay!

No, Kane_Firestalker, words have specific definitions. If those definitions are not followed, then there is no common ground and everyone might as well grunt. To paraphrase dictionary.com:
dan·ger·ous adj.
1. Involving or filled with danger; perilous.
2. Being able or likely to do harm.
So the approach to the FS slot is perilous or likely to do harm? Who exactly is in danger? I can't imagine they meant the players, that seems like a dire warning. That is why I postulated that the developers are the people 'in danger'.
If they wanted to get people excited by the impending announcement, they could have used any number of words to convey that idea. For example, they could have used any of the following words to convey something other than 'perilous or likely to do harm'.
noticeably
markedly
notably
strikingly
decidedly
prominently
There, wouldn't any of those words make more sense than 'dangerously'? There's at least a dozen more I could have used, but this example should suffice. To think, someone was paid to write that newsletter, and someone else was paid to edit it.
Per Meriam Webster:
RETARDED
Main Entry: 1re·tard

Date: 15th century
transitive senses

2 : to delay academic progress by failure to promote
intransitive senses : to undergo retardation
synonym see DELAY
- re·tard·er noun
Also as in, what you're being.
They're hyping the event. That's all. Stop slagging the Devs. It's generally not deserved, definitely not in this case.
Sorry to post something like this. It's not my usual thing but this is just dumb.
