I can see them all in japan storming the corporate head quarters there shouting "YOU FIX GAME NOW!, YOUR OWRK NIGHT AND DAY TILL GAME FIXED"
On a Friday afternoon at 1pm when they all try to leave for the weekend a mass riot occurs.
On a serious note, pardon my humor above, the work ethic in a country like Japan does promot long hours and pride in your work above most other things. A game like this that has continually made the mistake of publishing software before it's ready would be considered a disgrace there.
To bad falling on your sword isn't an option here for some of the marketers calling the shots.
The japanese and asians in general take their mmorpgs very seriously. There are television shows over there 100% dedicated to mmorpgs. And the reason SWG is a failure over there is because they have little patience for bad games.
And dont blame it on lack of love for star wars. If anything, star wars is bigger over there than in the USA. In fact the last movie broke all kinds of records there. They love the star wars, but they're not willing to play a bad game like SWG.
A friend of mine who lives there (ex navy, married a local and stayed) says SWG is made fun of quite a bit by a few television shows about mmorpg. They routinely make comments "well at least its better than SWG" stuff like that. His wife calls SWG hollywood garbage lol. Most players dropped SWG immediately after trying it because they dont tolerate bugs, balance issues, and broken quests. He also says it was expected as Sony isnt respected as much these days. If Mitsubishi or Samsung had made it, people there would guess it would be a much better game.

FFXI is a horrible game. Its huge over there. Sorry but the Japanese aren't the benchmark for a great MMO.

*Smack* as your shield comes up under the bandit's chin. (That might do it - he's getting tired since you've both been fighting fiercely for several minutes and you're both slowing down)
*Thunk* as the bandits poorly timed thrust misses introducing his hand to your helmet.
*Squelch* as your sword surprisingly slips through a gap in his lorica causing severe damage to the bandit's upper arm and causing him to collapse in a useless (probably screaming) heap.....
