Twice each week we get a fix that improves client stability and gives us fixes to prevent CTD's.

GOOD JOB SOE!

And to reduce the lag we have to turn off heat shimmer. What they really mean is: We spent hours of development on an option to give you more lag and less fps!

i used to play an EA online game and EA sucks!!..they ruined the game..they have ruined just about every online game they make...EA are the ones that are running the japanese server and doing soe's customer service over there....just a matter of time before it went down..it was a ticking time bomb from the beginning....

Taken from Google's translation of SWG:Japan site

"The new prayer guide"

Seems like someone over at Google is typing in the translation as it is read out by a Japanese guy

Stupid forums keep removing my link to google's translation: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.japan.ea.com/swg/

actually its because in Japan they DO have quality control .

you will NEVER see the kind of programming and gameplay balance that SOE has shown with this game from a japanese development team (japanese meaning based IN japan) .

Simply put, SOE did not reach quality levels expected of in the Japanese market. Its notbecause of lack of interest in star wars or in 'another MMPOG' .

Look at Square Enix for example. FFXI is a MASTERFULLY made game. no bugs, no major gameplay issues, any problems are addressed and practically fixed within 24 hours of being reported. That people, is QUALITY. and the game has been out for less time than SWG AND its cross-system game (PS and PC can play together).

'Foolish boy. Don't you know anything about Fantasia? It's the world of human fantasy. Every part, every creature of it, is a piece of the dreams and hopes of mankind. Therefor, it has no boundaries.'
'But why is Fantasia dying then?'
'Because people have begun to loose their hopes and forget their dreams. So the nothing grows stronger. It's the emptiness that's left. It's like a despair, destroying this world. And I have been trying to help it.'
'But why?'
'Because people who have no hopes are easy to control. And whoever has control has the power'

EA realy let me down with BF2. Half of my old school gaming buds can't play it and the other half dont realy like it. Whoever mentioned Call of Duty though, that game was very well made if lacking in content. COD gameplay is a standard for me, smooth codeing, great immersive action, iron sites, etc..if only it had a little more to it then spray n pray. It's how I was hopeing the gameplay on here would be like when I was finnaly talked into getting this game. Maybe the graphics are a little thinned out but it still looks good and doesnt bog down the whole system.

I can see them all in japan storming the corporate head quarters there shouting "YOU FIX GAME NOW!, YOUR OWRK NIGHT AND DAY TILL GAME FIXED"

On a Friday afternoon at 1pm when they all try to leave for the weekend a mass riot occurs.

On a serious note, pardon my humor above, the work ethic in a country like Japan does promot long hours and pride in your work above most other things. A game like this that has continually made the mistake of publishing software before it's ready would be considered a disgrace there.

To bad falling on your sword isn't an option here for some of the marketers calling the shots.

You need to get out more....the Japanese play more online games than we do.....trying to compete with the Koreans. They are game addicts hardcore.

The japanese and asians in general take their mmorpgs very seriously. There are television shows over there 100% dedicated to mmorpgs. And the reason SWG is a failure over there is because they have little patience for bad games.

And dont blame it on lack of love for star wars. If anything, star wars is bigger over there than in the USA. In fact the last movie broke all kinds of records there. They love the star wars, but they're not willing to play a bad game like SWG.

A friend of mine who lives there (ex navy, married a local and stayed) says SWG is made fun of quite a bit by a few television shows about mmorpg. They routinely make comments "well at least its better than SWG" stuff like that. His wife calls SWG hollywood garbage lol. Most players dropped SWG immediately after trying it because they dont tolerate bugs, balance issues, and broken quests. He also says it was expected as Sony isnt respected as much these days. If Mitsubishi or Samsung had made it, people there would guess it would be a much better game.

FFXI is a horrible game. Its huge over there. Sorry but the Japanese aren't the benchmark for a great MMO.

Yeah I was stationed in Kadena AB, When a game comes out its like Aerosmith came to town. It wont be long till the game dies here. If you like Rome stuff there is a Rome MMORPG called Roma Victor that looks pretty cool. Beta is open if anyone wants to test it out. LOL read the combat system its funny as hell.

heres an example::::

*Clank* as the bandit frantically blocks your sword with his shield.
*Smack* as your shield comes up under the bandit's chin. (That might do it - he's getting tired since you've both been fighting fiercely for several minutes and you're both slowing down)
*Thunk* as the bandits poorly timed thrust misses introducing his hand to your helmet.
*Squelch* as your sword surprisingly slips through a gap in his lorica causing severe damage to the bandit's upper arm and causing him to collapse in a useless (probably screaming) heap.....

FFXI has about 400k players, WoW has millions, Lineage 1 has millions, Lineage 2 has millions, so I'd hardly call FFXI a huge hit over there.

And they have entire shows devoted to mmorpg. The closest we have is a video game channel that might dedicate 2 minutes to a review of one. They have cafes and bars with moniters and keyboards built into tables for game access. I dont see any of that in my local Hooters bar
