I think this is actually what the devs mean....

They only say you will be able to use force powers when a light saber is equipped but no other equipped weapon will work.

NOT having a weapon equipped. They dont mentionthat. So I would venture to guess that that is still alright. Otherwise they would have just said: You HAVE to have a lightsaber equipped. Period. Since they are only addressing equipped weapons, light saber or no LS equipped, you will still be able to use force powers.

Agreed, I suspected so too but many players seem to think, and they may yet be proven right, that it means ONLY when you have a lightsaber equipped and so I was being cautious

I hope this never goes live. As a casual player, my sorta-final temp is going to be TKM, MPowers, Enh 0004. At least until I can bank the xp for more skills and tune a ton more crystals. The way I look at it is a hybrid toon is my best shot of having a fun, effective and playable character sooner rather than later. Granted, macros will probably solve everything for a little while but it won't be long until they reinstate the switch timers again.

I'm just hoping they'll leave well enough alone, it's not like hybrids are any stronger than full normal or full jedi temps anyway.

Ok, so it is as I feared. I'm not sure why SWG is trying to get rid of hybrid templates... it would seem that their system generally encourages it. I don't see why I should commit to being a full fledged jedi... the EU doesn't support this, although I suppose the films do.... not looking forward to regrinding those jedi trees...

I actually enjoy fighting alongside hybrid jedi. I find that most of the time the enemy does not know they are hybrid, or if they do, they under estimate their power. Then they start hitting you with thier damage capped PH while you are choking to death. That is when you realize you made a mistake.

The proper way to fix this is to make hybrid templates less of an advantage than full template. Unfortunately, that would involve Jedi being stronger or something, so that won't happen. Just drop the ax on Jedi hybrids...another way to corner us into gimptation

Yeah I heard this too and it is indeed to make hybrid templates less appealing. However a better "fix" would be to make it so that you cannot use force powers if you have a weapon equipped that is not a lightsaber (making no weapon equipped accetpable). The distinction is subtle, but allows jedi who wish to walk around "palpatine" style to do so and still be able to use their powers.

That'd actually be alright with me, I'm thinking my template would still be feasible, go "steel hands"

This would of course leave 2 interesting hybrids:

TKM, MPowers, Healer 4000 (3 skill points left)

TKM, Mdef, Healer 4000 (3 skill points lef) <--- super tank.

But Jedi are supposed to be stronger than most. No jedi had a saber equiped in the movies to use mind trick, or force throw. They should try and stick to the books and movies, but thats asking for WAY too much.

One of the biggest problems I see with the idea is that it actually goes no where to address a big problem in the game...
AND actually worsens the problem that a lot of gamers don't want to SEE so many Jedi.

SO, having force users that don't use lightsabers is a GOOD thing and they should look at ways of balancing things a better way than taking away that option.

That's my opinion and I have a doctor's notice that says you cannot institutionalize me for expressing these feelings.
