They are better because they can allow you a overall higher regen.
Padawan Robe leaves 3 clothing slots free = +1 Force Regen x 3 = +3 and added to Robe = +13 Total
New Cloak leaves 7 clothing slots free = +1 Force Regen x 7 = +7 and added to Cloak = +15 total
You get a total of 28 sockets and the cloak as compared to 12 sockets with the robe.
The cloak is hands down the winner for building a Jedi outfit.

I suggest a new strategy... let the wookiees wear the cloaks too!

Ohhh... thats the kind of look I try to get with normal clothing.. Cant wait.
Lava saber looks like crap btw. I rather have a named green crystal (same elemental damage as Sunrider's or Bane's, just green).

I dont know anyone who is remotely good at jedi who still wears padawan robes...
