When the systems team sat down to talk about Rangers we all agreed that the current implementaion was very much in the vein of the "fantasy Ranger". Tracking, foraging, harvesting creatures, etc. The only thing that was left out were bows and arrows. We all agreed that the closest Star Wars had to Ranger was the Antarian Ranger, which is more of the Stealthy, Demolitions, Spy-ish type of character. "

Again, there ARE some parts of cloak that DO NOT fall into those 6 rules. Namely the ability to interact with control panels and containers and not break cloak. The above statement could be to fix those, not add a snare.

Yes, I could very well be wrong. But before I over react, I think it would be best to get clarification from the devs if Cloak will have a snare added to the current system. That is a pretty straight forward question and can be met a straight forward answer.

Ok well Blixtev's says that some of these rules were in place before. This is a new ruleset they're going with, they've decided to take the best of what they had before, and combine it with these new rules to fix some bugs or "exploits."

No one is asking you to overreact, but as a productive member of the forum you might wish to consider that getting the bugs with cloak fixed before any changes take affect would be a good thing no matter if the nerf happens or not.

Really, man, how long have you played SWG? After watching what these guys have done to this game in all that time, do you really think they're gonnafine-tune the cloak programming like this? They probably don't even realize the consequences we are talking about.

The devs have never programmed this game right since Day 1. They are not gonna do it this time either. We should start preparing now for the inevitable. We have the warnings. The hurricane is coming ashore soon.

Grunzer, could you use a larger type face? I still don't see what you mean.

No, it was the biggest one they had available. hehe. Don't worry, I'm done. I just think that screaming about no new nerfs is pointless. It's been coded, the dev's aren't going to get rid of it, so better to push for fixes to Cloak that will keep it viable, if not the same strength as it was before. As it is, if they do implement these changes, Cloak will be next to useless until they can get around to fixing those bugs.

hehe.. I hope you don't tink I was screaming. I went to great lengths to ensure I was coming across as calm and collected.

It was disturb me greatly to have the cloak ability nerfed. The character I play is not a fighter. I use that skill extensively for evasion and this would cripple that character grately. I asked for clarification on the thread where it was brought up. Hopefully Helio or another Dev will be more specific, but I am not holding my breath.

You can hold your breath longer than you will be able to stay cloaked if this nerf goes through.

I was in beta, so I have been playing a long time. Yes, I amas concerned as anyone that the cloak ability will get nerfed. But I have also seen a lot of things being said by a dev that were vastly misinterpreted. As you can see from my earlier post, I am not betting that it will not happen, I am just interpreting the information differently and suggesting people be asking for clarification, not pulling their hair out over something that they could be misinterpreting.

But.. historically, folks that stand on a soapbox preaching about the end of the world, get a lot more listeners than those that ask more question.

Also, serisously, if they redo the code so that all invisibity skills use the same base, it would be relatively easy to fix those other bugs. Since they all use the same base. It would be far more difficult if they all had different sets of code.

Yep, you really do believe in the devs. We do not share the same view at all.

I wish you well, though. May the force be with you.

The cloaksnare is gonna be just as bad as the Avoid Incap snare. And here's the link:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=jedi&message.id=1216782

So, for all those basing their arguments on the premise that the cloak nerf cannot be as bad as the Avoid Incap nerf, sorry.

This will make cloak useless, folks. Case closed - unless the devs change their minds.
