Thread: Hard To Decide.. Is SAP Really Worth?

It's a little difficult to exactly calculate how much SAP helps because you never have the same fight twice, and can't compare the before and after. I recently decided to switch from Heal 4020 and Enh 3004 to Heal 4040, Enh 3002 (lost meditate, ganed improves SAP) and so far, I have mixed feelings about it.

I've had 2 fights against MBH/MCM's since and i've won them both easily. One of them didn't have a clue what he was doing, the other was better but still didn't quite know how to use his skills. The think I loved about sap is not so much draining the mind, but also action. I was great to see a BH get knocked down with only action fumes left over. It allowed me to land 2 power hits and a head hit before he had enough action to get back up. That almost killed him. He then healed again, drained most of his mind and was toast then, but just to see how fast draining his action, KD lead to a complete mind drain and to his death.

In case you don't have numbers, improved sap is -35% action regen, and -30% mind regen for I believe 45 seconds so you do have to apply it often but it works very nicely. I would rather invest those skillpoints elsewhere but I think it gives me an edge I wouldn't have without it, since my saber is 400dps (not bad, but not impressive either). It will cancel out a Doc buff and booster blue on action/mind regens if the BH is buffed, or if you get attacked by one that is unprepared, then the debuff will be his death.

So yeah, it's worth it to help you out against a BH, but it's the ONLY time you'll use that skill. It don't even see where SAP could be usefull anywhere else.

And as to the question "Is there a wrong way to use it", well, i'd say it's as easy to wrongly use as armorbreak. Don't try to apply if the BH is already under the effect, and never forget to reapply.

So much of the outcome of duels depends on who gets the other guy on the defensive first. If you can get your opponent so he's concentrating on heals instead of attacking, many times you've already won unless you blow all of your action bar before they drop.

I think the extra innate armor is thus better than sap for two reasons:
1) less damage done to you each attack, so you have to heal that much less
2) use of sap early means you've skipped an attack round that could be used to do damage. Besides, you limit your opponent's mind much more by forcing them to heal than you do by reducing their regen rate, and you kill their action much more by kd'ing them than you do sapping them.

Yea really depends on what you fight most, my server is 99.9% jedi therefore its useless to me. And whenever I get the occasional BH attempting to kill me I have him down in a few hits (unless he's a d@mn FOTM =( then it can take a bit longer)

Sap is now a waste over all... a ok skill to use if your a Healer.. which then if you are ..... good luck.

4004 "States" will rise again and have a couple times acted funny in PvE -- FRS alone my gut says do the 4004 deal (again)

Without MLS you will probably lose of 1v1 Jedi fights.

Zap can be very useful again alot of templates. Healer 4004 is nice but it is more anti-BH skill tree and hopefully in the new FRS there won't be xp from MBH's.

Build your template to surive the FRS not MBH/MCM because all they are is a distraction.

I've actually posted this about three times today in other threads! LOL

Before the CU I had Healer 4004, after the CU I had 4040 up until about 3 weeks ago. I found Sap to not be worth it anymore after it's "nerf". It may negate action regeneration by 35%, but considering you can get spice and food that would probably exceed that rate, at best it will get someone back to their "normal" regeneration.

I decided to forgoe Sap (and Shock, which is a bigger waste of time/force spent) altogether and get my pre-CU Healer 4004. At least with this combination, while not specifically geared to help against other Jedi, helps tremendously against the countless CM/BH that come your way. Which in my experience, is far more frequent than a Jedi vs. Jedi encounter these days.

I have to question the usefulness of the ---4healer tree. Breaking it down;

Stop bleeding......... the last time i lost to bleeding was when there was saber tef

Curedisease........ Since CU disease is nothing, totally useless skill for CMs

Cure poison......... easily replaced when cured

Cure states.......... states as they are hardly matter. Even then they are easily reapplied, wasting force. Now if they cured debuffs, then that would be useful.

This is again, currently. I highly doubt the states will become more effective anytime soon. Not with the large plate the Devs have taken up with Ranger/SL changes to come. I'd sooner spend my points in another area. Let's face it, there's 1 line that's has usefulness in healer, the first tree. Everything else is questionable.
