Thread: Serious question regarding publish 24

My biggest compaint, and I freely admit it's a selfish one, is that I have spent 2 years working for my Jedi and now any snot-nosed 12 year old with mommy's credit card can buy the game and kick my a$$ in a week. Simple as that. If I didn't have 3 other toons to play, I would be at "end game" lol. This isn't a rant, it's just the way this game is. So...... you quit or go on.

My take on it is that people just don't feel listened too with these publishes and haven't for quite a long time.

There are things that are broken in the game and have been for a long time that people have asked to be fixed and they still sit broken.

They then come out with a publish that changes the way snare works making it harder for melee professions yet do nothing to fix anything that is broken for melee professions. This change was tested and the feedback was extremely negative by a vast majority of the playerbase yet the changes still went live.

Again another case where people feel that their testing and feedback is all for nothing. Then we see a reply from a community relations person today saying we know how you feel.

Leading people to naturally assume that if they know how "we" feel then obviously they don't give a **** since the changes went live anyway.

There is no communication for the direction of the game or of many of the professions. People are looking around and all they see are changes that lead a class to become weaker and weaker and others to become stronger and stronger.

There is no "official" reason given what so ever.....no direction for the game......just random changes that are made that appear to be at a devs whim and fancy.

Now you are ending up with part of the community gloating and happy with the changes and part of the community irate.

As a whole the game feels like it's wandering aimlessly from publish to publish with absolutely no sense of direction or focus. There is absolutely no stability in the professions which leads to a bad atmosphere.

To those that are happy.....don't be.....you might be seeing less Jedi's but what's worse is you might be seeing less customers period. What you may end up with is a game free of Jedis because it's free of customers and is a failed venture by SOE.

The amusing thing to me is that none of the issues are really "Jedi" issues. The problems introduced with the snare changes affect all melee combatants in the game. Its not just Jedi. The imbalance created byt he SL changes area also not Jedi specific.

responding to the melee/ranged equip issue...

now that i am empowered and calmed by the power of HAWTPANTS, I'd like to point out the obvious for a few folks. It is more and more common to see templates that incorporate double masteries that do not include saber. a shock, i know. ehnancer/defender powers/defender. not everyone wants the standard jedi, not everyone wants fotm, orBane's Fart loaded in their pwnzor blade. the use of a common sword or carbine along with melee hit or ranged hit i hardly see as game breaking, given the low to medium damage that it brings. I do see and read where certain hybrid classes though...pwrs/bh...swordsman/defender for a few examples, were causing issues with many. so i understand the logic of this 'fix' to an extent. unfortunately it touched on some templates who were not neccissarily causing a problem. people are frustrated beacuse it lessens template diversity, and was not something that was deemed worthy to put in the patch notes. /adjustsflameresistantcoat burgers on the grill, flame away

and .... your not suppose to be able to use Jedi powers with any other weapons.... only bare hands and Lights saber...if anything they fixed a bug/exploit...

but it was always stated that your not suppose to use any Jedi stuff with non jedi weapons and/or armor

of all the other stuff wrong someone is mad they can't use a nonjedi weapons....sheesh.. /shake head sadly

Show me this in writing? I am not one of those glowie stick foold running around with their lightsaber equiped all the time. I have used my powers when needed with a melee weapon equiped for almost a year now. Show me this was ever listed as a BUG / EXPLOIT or dont post your own personal opinion.....Sheesh of all things .....By the way I am NOT a hybrid. I am a full temp Jedi. So my use of standard non certified weapons is more for roleplay than anything. The attacks obviously are not that strong.

Dikan, I understand and agree with you completly. I had not thought of the BH and other Hybrid combos out there. I have never been one to run around with my lightsabver equiped. I dont think it fits the timeline and I choose to remain hidden when possible. Obviously, this change may mean I need to change my stance and show myself as a jedi most places I go.

Yup. Myself, I was inspired by old-school Dark Horse stuff. Sith warriors who were Force users, but carried swords instead of sabers. Most even wore armor...and no, I'm not asking to wear armor, nor do I think we should. A neat, unique look and feel. Aside from the very occasional PvP, and doing quests in groups, I prefer to stay hidden and out of sight, and enjoy what content I can and Role Play. And when I did roll through a town, I had normal clothes and maybe a carbine equipped...'blending in' if you will. Most of my favorite blades are bio-linked to me I've tried some of the macro's people suggested for equipping and unequipping weapons between Force attacks, but it seems a little high maintenence for me.

I hope this will stay flame free, and that i can get an intelligent response to this question.

What exactly is it about publish 24 that has everyone here up in arms? I haven't played since pub24 went live, but i honestly don't see anything listed there that is such a huge problem. so could someone please explain this to me without flaming the heck outta this thread?

Snares override EVERYTHING. So, a BH can keep a Jedi out of range by snaring him over and over and the Jedi can't fight back.

Basically an "I Win" button for the BH.

Add to that the new SL buffs can work on a BH attacking a Jedi.

My Jedi won't leave his house until this is fixed (and I already cancelled my account).

IMO, its another publish gone by without any improvement to the game. See http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=jedi&message.id=1264814for a more detailed answer.

And since a BH can snare from 65m away and a Jedi can only snare from 32m, if the BH stays back enough, there's nothing the Jedi can do to save himself.

My jedi's on the shelve too and I too have cancelled.

Another question: Why can I not use force attacks while holding anything other than my lightsaber? I might have missed this but given the fact that I NEVER run around with my lightsaber equiped this is a huge disadvantage. Has this been brought up already?

PS: I got to see the new snares in Theed last night very bad for all melee profs.
