Would it really be so much of a surprise that someone who buys and pays for a Star Wars game wants to be a Jedi? Honestly, I got no problem with the folks who will be respeccing into Jedi because they've always wanted one, but never wanted to commit the time/effort to grind it. I can't knock someone for wanting to play the most recognizeable and "iconic" professions of the genre, but not having the hellacious amount of time and discipline to do what it used to be necessery to make it. I'm actually glad that some of those folks will be getting a chance to finally be what they probably bought the game to be. Some of them will go on to be great Jedi, I'm sure, as they'll finally be in a prof that suits their nature (and I think thats key to being a good member of the gaming community: feeling at home in your prof, and representing it well).
The group of gamers I really have the biggest problem with are those that choose the Powerful Prof of The Month. They have no dedication to their profession, and rarely represent it well. They get off on "pwning", and will do whatever necessery to do it. I expect we'll see several of them LEAVING the Jedi ranks in the NGE. They'll become Medics to start. Then maybe move on to the next hot profession after the first balance pass.

oh, you can bet I will TRY jedi to see what the big deal is, but I'd never stay as one as I think it's simply rediculous. Always have.

You'll have missed out on the "big deal". That was about 18-21 months ago. The "big deal" slowly but surely unraveled after that.
