I'd agree with you your original template is a good all round template, but is probably more geared towards PVE.

Thats all I do right now, PVE. I'm one of the 3 regular Jedi in my guild so I would like to have an all-around template so I can fit in any situation. Right now I am THE tank of the guild (well, my TKM/M.Doc friend does a great job, too).

I think your speed will be fine. You will constantly need to eat crispic and have FS2 on to be viable. Your real weakness will be going against another MDEF/MLS. If they are smart they will put a blind on you and you might, if you're lucky, hit them 2 out of 5. Like I said though, If the MLS is smart that will be his first attack on you. If you can live with the blind weakness, then go for it!

My thoughts were that I wanted to get Force Speed and Force Run (and Meditate, but only because I like the ability to meditate, I don't think I need Force Meditate).
My question is, would I be just shooting myself in the foot by dropping Master Lightsaber for Force Speed and Run? The master box has +25 saber-specific speed and +20 general melee speed but Force Speed is only +20 speed, right? Would I need to invest in speed tapes?
I'm just looking for a way to justify my change if/when I decide to make it.

It all depends on your saber.
You stated a damage of 667.

Well, the template you have now is the so called "FOTM PvP" template.

The template you mention above are more versatile, giving you +20 speed (FS), FR and such helpfull things.

But beware, MLS gives you +45 speed (gen. melee AND saber) and is a huge boost to your speed, even WITH the broken timers (or especially then).

If you have a respec left, you COULD respec to the "Versatile template", test it and go back (9 mil regrind) if u want.

But i TEND to say, keep the MLS with that saber, you need it.

Consider the "versatile" template beginning with a 720+ saber (and banes/teal giving you +210ish of elemental damage).

I have the "versatile" template, i am a pub9 Jedi with a 730ish saber and a banes, i can "afford" to miss the additional speed (i have a doc on my alt anyway, so im constantly under +25), also using mushroom, speedtapes etc.
I cover the lack of the MLS speed by damage, very simple.

But another Pre-CU MLS/MDef template with similar stats on his saber is a tough tough tough fight. But it is tough for another MLS also

You CAN do pretty good against these templates, i just have one hard case i cant lay down so far
Anyway, there is always some1 better then you.

But a guildie of mine just finished grinding, MLS/Mdef/Heal3../enh0002. Without the +45 speed (easy to check: Thats exactly (or close to..) the CM debuff number) this Jedi is simply an easy win, so stay MLS until you get better pearls and/or cooldowntimers are fixed.

Last but nor least:
Its also your playstyle and abilitys HOW you play.
If you can manage your pools in a good way, take the right food, use sneaky tactics etc etc, you will be fine with the "versatile" template too.

Most fights are not about "outdamaging" but about pooldrain. THe doublemaster (MLS MDef) gives you almost 7K force, while the versatile template drops you to 6.1-6-3K

In groupbattle this COULD be the difference.

So it depends on your playstyle and "usage" of your toon too.

If you are a non-pvp jedi, doing high-level stuff (Necrosis, Corvette etc.) the versatile template might be the more fun for you.

But if you are a "Theed Jedi": Stay what u are...
Or become cloaker

What blindweakness ?

Both, the "versatile" and the "FOTM" template dont make you resistant against blind, only heal xxx4 will, which isnt part of both templates.

Or did i missunderstand you ?

I have the second template you are asking about. IMO it's ok. The weakness is I hate the fact I don't have two good alternating attacks. IMO Mediate, FR2, and healing wounds is a waist. That's why the first template you suggested IMO is probably one of the best templates atm when you have Master Defender.

Personally I have accruacy and speed mods to help offset the lost of MLS mods. As you said losing MLS is just losing a ranged k/d and mods......those will be easily made up with the skills you aquired.

**just FYI, speed2 gives +20 haste bonus. That is not the same as +20 speed mod. From my observation it works as a percent but I could be wrong. I do know it DEFINTELY does not add a generic +20 speed to your mods. Only the devs know how it truely works.......or I should say I hope the devs know how it truely works**

I dropped MLS, I've crafted the hilts I'll need, ADK'd the ones I'm using. I never used Dervish outside of grinding, the speed isn't even noticeable, as it's still broke as far as I can tell. So what's the point?

So I just had to decide if the accuracy mods and ranged KD was worth tying up that SP. I didn't think it was, and so far, still don't think it's worth keeping MLS right now. I could be wrong in the future if speed changes but MLS is just good on paper, not really much better in game.
