Try this test...

if the mind is based on 0-100% say a value of 1000..

try a stim heal and see how much it drops % wise..

say it uses 10% which would mean roughly 100 points

----------------------------------------------

use the mind crystal

try another stim heal and see if there's a change in the %

the new max is 1900, so if the stim uses only 100 points,

then it should drop only 4-6% in which case it would mean it's working

---------------------------------

the following can also be true..

1. upon using the a crystal @ 50% it can increase youre bar by a number, but youre max has also increased, thus you may not see youre bar change during use.. 1500 out of 3k (half), then use the crystal now it's 3500 out of 5k (a little above half).. which would be a small increase in the bar visually

2. items may use a set amount ofthe mindpool, regardless of what the item is..

ie stims 10%, weapon 5%.. in which case using a mind crystal would be pointless

nevermind... read the posts above...

-unedited post below-

Try all your powers that expends mind. Write down the exact percentage.

Now expend your entire mindbar, then time the time it takes to regen back to 100%.

Now take the crystal and repeat.

What might happen is that your useagecost of your mind might be reduced becouse you have a larger mindbar, but you can only see the difference in %.

What might also happen is that your full mindbar may regenerate faster.

--- Cancelled 24th November 2006
Reason: The lack of multiplayer pve content and Star Wars feel.
For 3 years I have tried to find excuses to stay in game but only the expansions offered me what I subscribed for in the first place: A multiplayer Star Wars pve experience with friends around the globe. I found friends but with almost no addition of pve content they dropped out one by one. Now it's my turn.

1200 / 1200 is 100%

32413241 / 32413241 is also 100%

but yeah true, it's lame you can't see your actual mind's numbers though.. might help alot to be able to keep track of your stats.

Isnt it +900 to mind regeneration and not Mind itself?

Mine says +900 to Mind Regeneration for 1.5 hours.

Maybe that explains why I see no effect from mine. The two crystals I have just say 'attribute affected: Mind'.

Does yours seem to have any impact on your mind regen?

I have never tried it. I got the crystal a few weeks ago when people told methat they regeneratemind +900. But other's I know and seen use their mind moves a tiny bit and refills very fast, talking NPC fast. Its way overpowered right now it seems if that is what they are using.

THat's interesting because my crystal also says that it's +900 to mind. It doesn't say +900 to mind regen. Perhaps the time one acquired the crystal from the village has an effect whether the crystal works or not.

I got my mind crystals the first time the village was put in. I did my 3 free unlocks and then the next mission I had to to was the one with the mind crystal reward. So my crystals is as old as they come. At one time when CU first went live, my mind crystal was blank for a few months and did not work at all when I used it. Had no timer on it either. Only recently, maybe a month ago, after pulling it out of my bank, I looked at it and it hand +900 mind on it. I used it and got the timer. I figured it was working at the time.

Later, It may have just be my imagination, while hunting krayts, I noticed thatfighting CL86 krayts, I would end up with about 10% mind left due to lots of healing (solo hunting of course). So I went a pulled my mind crystal from the bank and used it. THe next time I fought CL86 krayts, I rarely dropped to less that 20% mind or so (just visually looking a the bar onscreen and estimated it....I didn't check the specific percentage). So I assumed the crystal was adding mind/making my mind pool larger and allowing me to have a lot more mind to use up. So instead of nearly running out of mind during combat, I had enough mind to go and fight a CL84 krayt right after.

The weird thing is that I can swear that without the crystal, my mind bar doesn't outlast my force bar, but with the crystal, my mind bar does outlast my force bar (meaning, I end up with more mind or force after the fight).

Now that my crystals has recharged, I'll do a test and see what the differance might be. Anyway, It's quite possible that depending on the time everyone acquired their crystal, some might work and others might not work. It may be an issue like the jedi robes and having to replace them for new ones.....

It doesnt work at all people. I have one. It says +900 Mind. You no longer have a mind pool, youjust have a percentso therefore this buff doesnt work. There is nothing for it to add to, no actual number for it to help, and so you dont see any benefit. This has been known for a long time now and we are waiting on a fix.

I thought the way the mind poolworked now is that all mind cost are a percentage of the total pool. For example a heal takes 10% (made up number). Therefore the crystal doesn't really do anything because the costs are always based on a percentage of the total.

Actually that's not totally true, the mind pool is set at a specific number which we cannot see. The percentage is simply a display of how much mind we have used or have left. The percentage only gives a estimate of the actual amount of mind we have. The exact amount of the mind and action pools are not known. The amounts could be 1000/1000, 3000/3000, 100/100 or whatever number the devs wanted to put it at. When we see percentage like 90% mind in the character screen.....assuming the mind pool value is 1000/1000 that simply means we have 900/1000 mind left. it just translates on screen as 90%.

Now I cannot say that the .tre files are 100% correct anymore as the devs have changed the format and we need to get a new program to read the new format as the old one doesn't exist. However, assuming the defaul values for HAM hasn't changed since pub 17 and they the list from the .tre files since then are still being used, then the evidence shows that the only bars that we don't have anymore are strength, action, quickness, mind and focus.

The health, constitution, stamina and willpower stats still exist. This means that in the game code, you can see constitution, stamina and willpower but on the screen in the game, we simply see it labeled as Action and Mind in values of a percentage.

Bascally it seems all the devs did was take the willpower HAM bar (was the stat that determined mind regeneration in the old system) and hide it's value on our character strings (or translated it into a percentage value) and put the lable "Mind" next to it. This is easy enough to do as it won't require you to write any new code at all. you simply use old HAM bars that we use to be able to beef up to insane amounts with Doc buffs and only allow the new buffs (doc, jedi, cm, crystals, spice, foods...etc.) to boost those values to a maximum mount. THis take the control of how much regen out of the hands of the players and limits it to the code.

So the thing is that the health crystal adds to the health bar (which we can still see and is still in the code) but the mind bar is no longer there, only the regen bar (willpower). Therefore the mind crystal doesn't work if it's supposed to be adding to the mind bar (doesn't exist), but if the crystal addes to regen, then that bar does exist (willpower).

The thing is that someone posted above me saying their cyrstal says +900 mind regen, mine says +900 mind.....I got my crystal in the very first village phase that allowed to give it.....I'm was making a guess that Cu conversion may have changed the crystal to work for mind and anyone who has one before CU went live, may have a /bugged crystal. It may have not converted properly and anyone with a crystal after CU went live and code was fixed, may have a mind regen crystal. I can't say that is the case though as I only have a pre-cu crystal and I'm only guessing.

Anyway, right now as it stands, looking at the species bonuses and some other factors.....the health bar shows how much health we have. It also shows our health regen rate in the same bar like pre-cu but not as a percentage. We can clearly see the numbers instead.

Action and mind show only percentages, but differ in that they only show percentages and the green and blue bars we see are now the regen bars instead of the total amount of action and mind we have. Also, we could be seeing the full action or mind bar and no actual numbers, only percentages...either way it doesn't matter because it's essentially the same thing, but the game code does not use a action bar and a mind bar, nor strentgh, quickness or focus anymore...so that's why I assume the action bar and mind bar are actual regen bars we see with a percentage, not an actual value.

Personally, I'd like to see an actual value on the character sheet, I can get a good guess of the percentage by just looking at the bar on screen, so I don't see a need for an actual percentage on the character sheet.

Anyway, if we all have the exact same crystal, then you are correct, the crystal doesn't work for anyone.....but if anyone has a different crystal (one with mind regen instead of just mind), then we could have an issue with mind crystals just like we did with jedi robes. Remember, everything did no convert perfect with CU....anything is possible.....however, I'm just making an educated guess on the whole matter.

Actually the crystal could work if it actually gives a regen bonus, percentage wouldn't matter...however, how much regen it could possibly give is anyone's guess, just because it says +900 doesn't mean the text on it is right....we have many test errors in this game...if it gives a health bonus then I doubt it works.

Yeah I realize that Hardwired. Just easier to explain since you no long have a number you can see. Behind the code there is a number for sure but because everything is a percent its basically AS IF you dont have one.
