Thread: Jedi and nerfs

A few reasons as to why they will not be nerfed.

One, the devs have said that Jedi are hugely overpowered, and will be able to take down entire groups of players.

Second, the fact that jedi will HAVE to take down entire groups of players in some situations.

Nerfed? Never

If anything, you may see them increasing their power.

A paste from an earlier reply of mine, even though it has already been stated here. Oh well

"the developers have openly admitted Jedi are unbalanced alreadyto be the single most devastating profession, and they also admitted that this was by design. I can't remember the exact quote but they said something to the effect that because of the extreme difficulty in advancing a Jedi and even unlocking the chance to play a Jedi, they made Jedi the single most powerful profession and then some. Like they also said, the player puts in a huge amount of time and risk to survive as one, they awarded the profession with power appropriate to its difficulty *stealth drool at the thought* Heck, I'd just love the opportunity to RP one of my childhood fantasies."

it won't work.

I or someone as pvp experienced as I am will be playing a jedi, get jumped by 3-4 people, and kill them all. He'll use his tricks well, he'll be hard to kill because he's aware and aggressive.
Later he'll hunt those people down and demonstrate that they aren't the hunters.

These people will go to the boards and cry. They will be lame and stupid, and they will cry.

The good pvp'er who was able to use his skills well and dominate, will bring down the jedi class by succeeding.

That's just how it works.

I have *no* idea what you just said. Poorliterature skillson your part, I guess. But I don't expect much from the people on these buards.

Maybe you haven't paid attention to the devs, maybe you are basing this opinion on NPCjediin the game, ormaybe you simply don't know what a jedi is...

But no, that isn't "just the way it is." Let's say we take your normal joe blow with average PvP skills, and we give Joe Blow a Jedi Knight character. Jedi Knight "Joe Blow" goes head to head with the best PvP'er ever known, who happens to not be force sensitive. Joe Blow will ALWAYS win such a duel (lag aside). This is how the devs wanted it to be, and this is how the devs made it. WHY? Because I've studied the PvP in this game, and I have discovered that EVERY time two people with GOOD skill go up against each other, someone dies in LESS than 5 seconds. EVERY time. And these people do NOT have uber powers. Thus, there is NOT a lot of strategy. PvP, as it stands right NOW, does not involve very many tactics or strategy simply because people die in a matter of seconds. And these PvP matches are two non-force sensitive people!

Now just IMAGINE what kind of duel is going to occur when you have a JEDI KNIGHT, who has been imbued with SUPER FORCE POWERS, goes up against a non-force sensitive person 1 on 1. There is NO way the Jedi will lose, aside from lag or system "errors." I am willing to bet that 90% of the time, Jedi will survive PvP battles up against TEN regular people.

So what will be the death of Jedi in this game? Jedi will spend most of their time permadying before they get the powers imbued upon Jedi Knights and Jedi Masters. NPC bounty hunters, and the occasional hunting party of 20 jedi haters will be killing Jedi or force sensitive players.

Once someone has reached Jedi Knight or Jedi Master status, their chances of dying from *PvP* will be significantly reduced.

Don't get me wrong please, I'm not trying to flame you. I just don't agree with your opinion about Jedi PvP.

Big difference between NPC jedi and human ones.

Just to list a few:

Won't fall into traps as easily as NPC

Intelligence (Well, maybe not if a few people here get the slot)

And using actual force powers

Plus, the fact that it has been said, if you openly use your powers often, then the empire will send people after you, so I don't see that being a problem.

Also, jedi can't just randomly attack people, the way I understood it from the devs, if you're a jedi and use a power, you are subject to the TEF in which people attack you, THEN you can attack those that attack you in defense, but thats mostly speculation right there.

But no, they said it would be hugely overbalanced and powerful, they aren't going to lower their power, it would defeat the entire purpose.

"Later he'll hunt those people down and demonstrate that they aren't the hunters."

I don't see why a Jedi would be stupid enough to hunt players down. He'd get a TEF and anyone around would jump him. If he "hunted" someone in a city, and got a TEF, he'd be gone. Not from one person, but from 100 that swarmed him.

"These people will go to the boards and cry. They will be lame and stupid, and they will cry"

Alriiiiiiight...

"The good pvp'er who was able to use his skills well and dominate, will bring down the jedi class by succeeding."

Sounds good. Except for one thing...how exactly?

Let me guess, you'll use one of those knockdown skills, or whatever silly thing people are crying Nerf for right now.

What makes you think a Jedi won't be able to defend against knockdown? Maybe he can't be knockdown at all? And with a lightsaber (and of course blaster deflection) you may not even get a chance to hit him before he slices you in two.

I also like how you say that ONE PvP person will be able to take down a Jedi, when one of the Devs stated that a Jedi Master could take down 20 experienced players. So, if the Jedi abilities were relatively scaleable then a Knight or Padawan could take down ONE.

A Jedi (Someone in an FS slot that makes it that far) will not have to worry about player PvP.

No Amount of whining or crying will Nerf them.

Level 250 Emperor's Hands that travel in packs will be the ones that Keep the Jedi Rare.

More speculation to strengthen the point above me, jedi have super human reflexes and can often "see" into the future.

So if they're going to do it right, they will have huge defensive bonuses in game.

Good luck hitting a jedi, period.

Honestly, if I was done with the game and was moving on, and I had a Jedi Master, I'd walk in to a random city and see how long I could survive. That would be fun.

Same.

I'd probably do it just so I could see who the empire sends after me.

Jedi will eventually get nerfed. A long time from now they wont be as rare of a sight i dont think. You will get all the "OMFG THIS JEDI DUDE KILLED ME WITH A SABER **edit** IS THAST< NEFT JJEDIS!" crap that we get now. Happened to CHs, is happening to BHs, and will continute to happen till everyone is strong as a novice marksman. All this scaling down is just going to make the game take longer.
