Thread: why did no one ask why wooks and iths cant wear robes in Strat chat?

im not a huge star wars buff but someone said this once too and it turns out that there is wookie jedi,in the books when luke skywalker starts the jedi academy one of his students is a wookie (might be chewbacca's son cant remember) anyways he weilds a bronze saber,so there are wookie jedi in the star wars universe

that wasnt really meant as a flame by the way,im just saying that you knew what wookies could and couldnt do when you made a wookie toon,but i guess if you didnt know it was the wookie who was gonna be the jedi you cant really be blamed for it and its not fair for you to get screwed over cause of it,i didnt think of that,my apoligies

Just so you know, moron, most people don't know all the limits of a Wook when they created their char. Like when I started back at launch I had no idea wookiees would be so limited...but by the time I realized it I had already built my toon up!
So, stop making excuses for SOE and their ineptitude as programmers. Do you work for them?

i had no problem with the limited armor choices, the limited clothing choices and the limited language choices, these are things they mentioned and i accepted them knowing i was going to be limited. what they didnt mention, and so therefore i wasnt aware of, is that they were adding things into the game that would give non-wooks (and afterwards, non-ithorians) an advantage over their stronger, taller, hairy-er companions. we were told that we would have things that compensated for the disadvantages we faced in not being able to wear what everyone else can. The disappointing thing is that post-CU, the compensations that we received have been made inconsequential. the extra health is insignificant, the 200 health i have over non-wooks gives me no advantage in a world where everyone has 4000 health when buffed. And now in the post-publish 24 galaxy, the wookiee roar wont work on high-end mobs, so we have zero advantage with the same number of disadvantages. We aren't asking for something to push us above and beyond the non-wookiee community, we just would like to be included in the content that the rest of you enjoy. Giving us quest rewards we cannot use, but making them either so common, that people wont buy them (katarn armor), or if it is really cool, making it untradeable (pilot helmets and jackets), just leaves us out of the loop.
The current issue with the jedi robes is a tough issue, because at no point were we told that we would be disadvantaged as wookiees in the combat world, but then as jedi we would also face the same issues. Now lets say that its something we should have assumed, then hey, our bad. I just think that as it has been pointed out several times, a cloak is an item that is essentially draped over the body, it really doesnt have any kind of body shape to it, other than humanoid. Seeing as how we have 2 arms, two legs, shoulders and a head, we have the basic requirements to wear a cloak. Now if this is difficult, then take into consideration that the cloaks that are being added, are really just modified cloaks that are already ingame. They aren't new art or new items, just old cloaks given new life with some force mods. I don't think its unfair to say that a wookiee clothing item could have been modified to accomplish the same effect. i dont know anything about programming, but i would think a simple command like:
IF character = wookiee THEN reward A
ELSE reward B
two simple lines that im sure arent much more complicated to do in our game. Lets be honest, its not like body shape should really matter anyway. If they can make the Jedi robes fit wookiees, with the boots and all, then I dont see why we cant have a cloak. Why do people like Darkvenegence feel like they have to complain that we want equal footing with the rest of the community? I don't see them complaining that Twi'leks can wear the same things as them. Personnally I dont see how the same composite helmet that can fit a human, can be traded to a twilek and then they, who have two giant tails sticking out of the back of their heads, can now wear the same helmet, and it modifies itself to be worn by them, yet we cant get a 'morphing' cloak.
sorry, thats just my opinion on all this, but back to the original post, i also found it curious that an issue that was brought up on the beta forums several times, and was even a thread with nearly a dozen pages of feedback, got no play in the HOC chat.

Agreed, wookies are always neglected. And two, the chat was RIGGED. NOBODY I know could get in, every question there was scripted. Myself and countless others were blocked from it intentionally.

I'm guessing people did they probably just ignored the question.
In BETA there were a couple very big threads about this and I don't believe one dev even posted they saw it. I think it's safe to say if you want to wear these robes, get an alt rofl.

I got in, they answered one of my questions 10 minutes after it was already answered. I asked about the wookiee/ithorian issue but of course that one was never answered
