Once and for all, stop whining about premiums and flawless. The devs have given us an answer. Deal with it.
It takes time and effort, but you can make a useful saber using "good" pearls. You just have to spend enough time hunting Krayts. It's not that hard. Two people can easily kill anything up to a giant. So ask a couple of friends to join you, and get to work. If your Jedi is not strong enough, then use your alt.
And there is no reason why pearls (even premiums and flawless) should only be lootable by Jedi. You don't have to be a master artisan to loot an AV-21 powerplant; you don't have to be a master pistoleer to loot the Avatar pistols; you don't have to be a TK to get the knuckles of the katarn; you don't have to be a rifleman to get the trando rifle, the schematic, or the barrel. All these things are worth quite a bit of money, and I could go on.
Finally, pearls would not be as much of an issue if people didn't rush unpreparedinto Jedi. Instead of speed-grinding FS, people should spend more time playing the game, making money, and building up a small stock of crystals and pearls.
We should spend more time discussing our skills, and less time ranting about an issue that has alreay been beaten to death.
And no, I'm not a pre-cu jedi.
Amen.
im glad i took my time tounlock jedi(over a year), but all i know is that i got a better saber than most of these nOOb jedi cause i took my time to get premium pearls. only thing i regret is tunning them all when i unlocked instead of saving a couple to make my pockets fat

Can we all knock it off with the ignorant assumptions. Stryth is a pre-cu jedi, and one that has played the game quite a bit, he did not speed grind all of his FS trees, he was out there playing the game with us and pvping regularly which is why it took him much longer to become a jedi then most others. Hes not speaking on behalf of himself, but of many of his friends that are crippled as a result of lightsaber situations.
Regardless of how many times the issue of pearls has been brought up, it is his right to bring it up again and again and again until he becomes a satisfied customer. Thats what these forums are for.
The biggest cause of demise to our own profession is people tearing into each other for the sake of scoring PR points out there.
well tell him and his friends to stop whinning and start practicing on their new professions, PvP Meat Shields.
Its not whining, its valid concerns and they are going to be heard, and I dont give a rats arse how many times you have had to read them before. I am responsible for an entire guild of jedi, many of them new ones just coming up through the ropes and have a dps of 350ish. Not everyone choses to grind afk on kassyk, and for those that dont, dying to a BH as a result of terrible equipment is a fairly big deal. It does not have to be a big deal to YOU, its a big deal to THEM and that makes it important enough to be said.

well said taurel, thing is some people seem lacking in the abilty to think beyond their own selfish concerns, like i said this thread is focused on jedi as a whole not me,ive been PvPing since i started playing the game almost 2 years ago,iHAVE a nice saber so beleive me,im no PvP meat sheild, and its incredibly ignorant for you to assumethat i would need to be a post CU jedi with a crap saber to make a thread like this
ok next question

ok first off, premiums and flawless need to be back ingame ASAP,secondaly to stop players farming them they need to be
A) only lootable by jedi
B) only useable by the jedi wholooted them
this will stop players farming them for financial gain,i personally wouldnt miss seeing pearls/crystals changing hands for millions of credits, pearls and crystals are in the game for our benefit and shouldnt be used to line other proffesions pockets!
this has to be done for the good of our proffesion and longevity of our proffesion, what SOE done has designed a system in which the main component in our main weapon is only lootable (retarded idea) then by making only "good" drop they chopped our proffesion off at the knees by taking prems/flawless out of the game,by doing that they've forced jedi to craft weapons from sub standard components..this is completely unacceptable and needs attention from the developers
no other proffesion in the game is forced to cope with these kinds of conditions and it turns my stomach that jedi are made to

Inherant flaw...how do you get a good saber to be able to kill the thing that drops them?

Every other profession gets looted/quested weapons that are better than the usual crafted versions. In the expansion, I'd like to see quests that give optimally tuned crystals/pearls as rewards.
They should be difficult (along the lines of the sith sword type of quest) and perhaps limited to solo/very small group instance-type situations.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure if they'll ever fix the issue with pearl drops. It seems too low priority and I'm not sure that coding it so that we can again have CL 1,500 mobs will really be the answer. LOL

Rest assured if they started dropping again we would all find a way, that is not an issue at all, the issue is getting them to drop in the first place. Im tired of watching chump BHs run around pwning jedi on our server simply because they are post CU jedi and cannot compete. Those same BH come near me and get destroyed with little effort. Im good at what I do, but not that good, its an unfair hurdle placed on our newer brethren and it needs to be addressed. Its time those older veterans out there got together and stuck up for our padawans instead of beating them down and labelling them as whiners.

there are lots of ways to get round that, for example you can loot "fair" and "good" when you're force sensitive because they arent worth much, then once you unlock your jedi slot you're able to loot premiums and flawless..so long as premiums cant be farmed which seems to be theconcern of the developers, this system would fix that and everybody wins..well everyone who has a jedi that is

Why not just make it so they drop enough to keep the costs down....seems like THAT would make sense.

The problem with them dropping more often is that, eventually everyone would haev a perfect lightsaber...which I wouldnt have a problem with, but people will whine...They need to be rare enough that EVERYONE wont have a ton of them and common enough that they are not frustratingly difficult to get....sometimes I go 30 krayts without a good pearl drop....thats frustrating as hell and for what? a .000001% chance to tune usable?

see thats where it gets annoying, even by having prems and flawless drop again theres still no gaurentee that everyone is gonna have 4 perfect 120 120 -9 pearls in their saber, they'll get enough pearls or whatever so they at least break the 100 damage mark then they'll most likely focus their attentions elsewhere..thats the way its always been, out of all the jedi i know ( alot) only one i know of has 4 perfect pearls..now if by some incrediblysmall chance if every jedi from here until the end of time decided they were gonna make sure they got 4 120 120 -9 pearls in their saber, where the hell is the problem?..our max damage and DPS is STILL gonna pale in comparission to that of other elite proffesions so the developers need to stop screwing around and give jedi what they need want and deserve!!!
