Are you out of your mind?!What they should do is start ALL of us back over as far as skills are concerned and take away EVERYONE's Jedi and make this game AS INTENDED from the beginning. Jedi was supposed to be an UBER RARE player that you almost never saw because although he was POWERFUL (a knight could clear a room full of people according to thunderhearts interview before launch) there would also be perma-death.
Now, don't give me all this Crap about how hard it was for you to get your Jedi. My Jedi was one of the first 10 on the Naritus server and yes, I survived the perma-death. ( I had 1 life left when they changed it). I would be losing ever much more than 95% of the Jedi on our servers today. I didn't have a safe planet to afk grind my XP, nor could I become a knight in a few short weeks like many did. I spent a year and a half on my Knight Grind thank you very much. I was never a "respec jedi" and cheated the system to gain more skills by banking respec points. My Jedi was finished about a month before the respec. My Jedi was the first and only "known Jedi to be going dark" when we were all forced to be rebels. I proudly wore my imperial guilds tag and it lit me up light a neon sign in a dark alley. I didn't have a village to go to and could actually TRACK and KNOW exactly when I would be a Jedi. I hologrinded them and talk about difficult, it almost killed this game because so many people got sick of that grind because there was no light at the end of the tunnel. Being a Jedi was supposed to be HARD and taking, and DEFINITELY the Jedi path wasn't suppose dto be easy and fun. It's the care-bear Jedi and other crybabies out there that have no clue how hard it was and will never appreciate what a H3LL it was to be a Jedi.
After I say all that, PLEASE take my Jedi and everyone elses and impliment a system that would be all but impossible to figure out and even worse to do even if you did figure it out... That way Jedi could be VERY powerful and ALL the other professions would again be viable. I would be more than happy to start over with mycharacters as long as I can keep my stuff I earned. Make a system that I will probably never figure out how to wild a lightsaber and I'd probably be happy with it. Not that I wouldn't again try to be a Jedi, but that it would again BE WORTH becoming one IF I ever got lucky enough to get it. Right now, the profession of Jedi has become a cancer to the very survival of this game and even though it hurts, it needs to be cut completely out and redone. Anything less is doing nothing more than applying a poorly made bandage over a systemic cancer that WILL kill this system because as it is right now... why bother with anything "except Jedi." Armorsmiths can't make Jedi armor so in a year they will be useless, weaponsmiths can't make better sabers so they will be useless... at least a tailor can keep their job.
You say that everyone won't be a Jedi... and you are right but the majority will be one or has become one.
What is sad is that the Jedi was the Corvette that most would only take out every once in a while because of how rare and valuable it was to lose, but it now looks like a pinto and everyone has one, and the normal character has been reduced to nothing more than a mule for holding more crap in your houses.
A penny for your thoughts on this matter....anyone. I know this has probably been said at least 100 times, but if you want balance, you have to eliminate the REAL problem and start over.

I cant comment, since im not a pre pub9 Jedi, but honestly whatever it takes to become Jedi i will do. I bought this game to become a Jedi. But i do agree that Jedi should be ultra rare and would welcome such a system.[I respect all the old schoolers had to go through, for sure]
Well, I can see where this post is going... and even by me... just another flame post. I'll let this die here and just thank god for D and D online. It's not an SOE game... it's turbine... hopefully they will have their crap together like they did in Asheron's Call. I just wonder how many will leave when D and D online comes out... lord knows with turbines past record and by working with the D and D folks, it will be a balanced game that is done right for a change.

OMG FRIGGIN *edit*
Dude, it wasnt our choice to implement the village, so its not our fault our grind is *easier* than urs (we ground more xp then a fulljedi tempfor FS, and pre-CU that was tpugh cookies) and u had LS damage, i heard a pre-9 jedi say that his jedi grind was easier thanm it is today because he didnt have to look for a group and he had LS ddamage, he said when he got spin attack, he could spin a lair faster than we cvan post-CU
You are kidding yourself by the way, you would use 2-3 specials and your wopping 900 force as a paddy would be gine and then you get it back at 1 force per second... don't speak of what you have absolutely no clue, and yes, I did do a village Jedi and my pre 9 Jedi was MUCH harder. Pre-9 had kinetic Damage and have you ever tried to run from a group that had 95% to kinetic and they ALL can tef you just because you have your saber out?!... try running from a group of 20 on Yavin for 2 hours when the only thing that I was thanking god for was my force run because mounts and bikes wern't out yet. And god forbid they catch you....perma-death.
What you speak of was after pub 9 until the revamp... although once the wookie planet came out it became soooo easy. what's the recod to finished template now? I think it's under 10 days am I wrong?

I'm not sure what the point of this thread is anymore. If the purpose of your proposal is to make Jedi "rare" or "control the population" in some manner, you might check the Troll's Guide to Writing Jedi Population Control Posts.

yeah... might as well just throw it there... or in the trash with this game when D and D online comes out.

ROFL, i would NEVER go to another MMO, i just got this cuz its star wars, Dungeons and Dragons online sounds **edit** lol
There is no concern about the number of Jedi. People complain because they don't want it themselves but can't beat it, don't have the time to do it themselves, or have it and don't want anyone else to have it.
For the last time, you did not WORK for your Jedi. You played a game. If you think you worked, put those snappy Jedi signatures on your resume the next time you go out for a job interview, let's see the job offers just start rolling due to the recognition of your hard work.
alright... I knew I would get flamed...
ALthough I am not savy enough to do what you did with the posts, I will reply to your sarcasm.
Dedicate their lives to Jedi you say... give me a friggen break. I can start the Jedi path on an alt today and have it within 6 months and know EXACTLY to the day when I will have it... let me guess... you never tried the hologrind.
6 months, thats right, 1/2 a year, prob 4-8 hours of gameplay per day, 1/2 year if you live to 60 is a lot of dedication... thanks for confirming me on that one...........
You are right that the others did what was required of them... althought what was required of them to be a Jedi was about 1/100th of the pre- publish 9 Jedi, but I'm not complaining about that either... even though it was harder...and it was, I would happily sacrifice my Jedi along with everyone elses. And quit bitching about the sabers... you and I know they will bring back uber pearls to make us all even... you care-bears will demand it.
LOL, 3 contradictions in 1 statement, so are you complaining or not? yes, you are...... And why are you so angry at the carebears and SOE brining back uber pearls? i'll tell you whay, b/c like a large segment of precu jedi, you don't want to lose your superiority in the jedi class, you must think your 15 dollars per month is bettter then mine..........
Lets see, have you seen the numbers rising or falling overall on your server? On mine almost every town is a ghost town. Don't tell me there are (alts) or mules because those don't count, and the "new player" numbers are dwindling on all servers.
Can't speak for other servers, tempest has witnessed huge population increases in the last 2 months........., from light to medium I believe, you can tell by the increased lag also : )
You call me selfish, and maybe you are right on some level... there would be some who would never know how depressing to bust your ass to become an elite class only to have it nerfed to the point where it isn't worth having other than for the extra lots, because everyone else has the same elite class you do. You are right that I am selfish to be willing to give up my greatest accomplishment in this game and my main character for almost 2 years in order to see the survival of this game. You are right that I am selfish... I will spare those people from incredible dissapointment that is Star Wars Galaxies as it is now. I would spare them being forced to be a Jedi if they'd like to PVP.
You admit at least that your selfish and you want the Jedi class to be for you precu guys only, but if you hate it so much since its been nerfed, try SL instead, I hear they are pretty nice now. You should start thinning the population by giving up your Jedi first. And no, i'm not giving up mine, I'm happy with it, I don't complain about too many jedi, and so I have no reason to give up mine
What I can't spare them from is the care-bears like you who say just be happy with what you have because the easier we make it and give everyone a Jedi the more even we will be. Why don't you stop being selfish and give up your Jedi as well, and if you don't have one yet, maybe you could learn to appreciate that when and if you ever got a Jedi, you would then have a character worth having. Jedi right now... pfft... laughable at best.
I'm not being selfsih, you are, thats my whole point.

carebears - n. 1) Word commonly used to classify jedi Post Publish 9 and /or CU.
Example: All jedi should be removed from the game except for my pre pub 9/pre cu jedi since I worked harder [insert wine] for mine and I want to be rare, and its not fair, and SOE [insert cry] did this, and I want to be the center of attention, etc..............
So I have a new motto to add to my SIG:
Stop the Pre-Pub-Nine Wine........
KTHXBYE
