Nice to see literacy run strong through you Luthien. Taking the term 'NERF' as it is used in regards to massive online games, it means a reduction in power. As I stated above we were nerfed even before we were live. If you are curious where the term nerf derives from take a look here: http://www.legendmud.org/raph/gaming/nerfing.html. On the very bottom of that page from Raph Koster is the quote:

For the record, the term "nerfing" entered online gaming vocabulary because of UO. At some point, we reduced the power of swords in melee combat, and players started complaining that they were hitting each other woth nerf swords. The rest is history...

Koster is also the creator of Star Wars Galaxies. So i think that very much applies to this game. The nerf that we had gotten before anyone had unlocked their slot has caused a lot of issues. We are unable to attain Apprenticeship Experience. The additional defences and things like terrain negotiation are things that would solve a lot of the Jedi issues.

In your case Luthien its better to play the fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

AnX do you agree you can only NERF something when it is live? If soJedis have not been nerfed but balanced and tweaked as all games do in their final testing phases.

Infortunately they removed the 'blue glowies' as well. They never did say what happens when you die as a master since that. That was part of the post from q-3po i quoted above.

Blue glowies were removed with the other jedi changes. They no longer exist.

Issue #2 Resistances

We have no resistances to anything as well. The only way for us to attain resists is through purchasing Clothing and Armor attachments and creating our Jedi as a Zabrak. This needs to be addressed.

I've put together a nice suit of 78% kinetic composite that I'm working up to +25 vs Dizzy, Stun, Posture Down and other state changes. I really have started to notice the difference as I've added these armor pieces to my composite.I'm not saying this isn't an issue, but this is something we can at least address using ingame items.

How much did you have to pay for those skill attachments?

#7: Get real please. You knew there was permadeath before you started the grind for your FSCS, just because its too hard for you don't try to take the "hard" out of "hardcore".

Also can you please provide a quote of wherea Dev said you could dabll ein other professions please, thanks. I think you forgot one: #8 Jedi's that keep logging in and logging out within 5 to 10min intervals to clear their TEF should have all XP removed back to Iniate.

He's talking about FOR MASTERS. Not Padawans, not Knights.

Oh, and here's another reality check..

DEVS KILLED PERMADEATH. IT IS NOW SKILL LOSS.

And to be frank, Jedi don't WANT to dabble. They want the basic skills that any Jedi with half a brain would know - finding shelter, herbal healing perhaps, the ability to use a DL44, basic sword and unarmed combat (especially Unarmed Combat), the Saber preservation techniques the FAQ you apparently designate as your BIBLE said there would be.

Now sit down before your big head causes you to lose your balance and fall, kid.

Great post i just hope the devs read it cause with the state of jedi as it is it will not keep me playing. I did the power grinds for jedi and got lucky with 15 professions and I had an idea of what i was getting myself into. I have listened to jedis complain about the various things that are stated in this post but i could never relate. Now i can, yes I know it shouldnt be easy to be a jedi and im ok with that but the xp issues the tef issues and the saber decay/building issues need to be addressed immediately. The devs owe that to us and i still have not heard a single thing from one of them. I have news for them, becoming a jedi will not keep people paying their monthly fees if they cant play them and that about where I'am. Few components to build sabers and no cash to buy them for now, boy thats alot of fun having a jedi but now being able to build another saber after one criticals.

/bump above the pattern seekers and hologimps.

You know, up until you posted that, I was feeling your pain man (from the non-Jedi point of view). How many Jedi reading this (even YOU AnXdiety) were indeed pattern seekers and holo-gimps? Lots, I'll bet.

One thing that Jedi need in their favor is to have their bounty wiped clean as soon as they're hunted down successfully. Start from scratch as to the buildup of points for using Force powers in view of others - after all, the Empire considers you dead, right?

One thing I don't want to see is the removal of permadeath (or more accurately character resetting) for Jedi. I'll tell you why. Back in the good ol' days, I played on Star Wars MUDs and such (a very generally text-based online version of what goes on with SWG for those not in the know). On these games, Jedi were the most powerful characters hands down and it always seemed to be the immature, griefing jerks (VERY few exceptions) who got to these lofty positions and basically took over the MUD lording over everyone and killing anyone who so much as looked at them funny...or just for fun. And what could you do about it? Not a **edit** thing - with this inner circle dominating, they made sure that no one else challenged them. So I'd leave these waiting for the day when a "real" online version of Star Wars came around and play that and not have to deal with it. Well here I am and taking away permadeath, even for the near unreachable Master level, will bring us back to the same thing. Now, I've played since Beta 2 and bought the game and was online after the first few days of server screw-ups. I play relatively often, near daily, and for several hours. I'm not a moron when it comes to strategy but I've mastered all of three professions so far (Artisan, Tailor, and Merchant). This is mostly because I didn't grind until I'd almost reached Master Tailor. So, given the odds of finding JUST the right professions without holos and then with, and the number of professions it took to get most of you to your Jedi status, you had to be hardcore grinders - I'm sorry but I know I'm right on that count. Try to disagree saying that you didn't do the grind or play for innumerable hours a day, or use AFK combat/crafting/camping macros to do what you did. Sorry, but I really do believe that the greater number of you did just those things. I apologize to the exceptions to the rule. So getting back to my point, Jedi is made up of the rough equivalent to what I had to face in the MUD - the powergamers who used every means possible to scrape to the position that you have and a decent portion are the l337 doods that I detest so much and who will find a way to grind to Master and never suffer character. Even if it's a relatively small number, you'll have your griefers and evil bastards amongst the Master Jedi and they know that no matter what they do they'll never suffer for it, really. You know what I'm doing? I'm creating a BH on another server for the explicit purpose of joining a group of like-minded individuals who will see these bastards in action and work together to do everything they can to reset their characters to Initiate, enjoying the sweet taste of their blood as they sit in their parents' basement crying about their now-reset Master Jedi. We can fight back against people like that instead of this becoming a MUD where they'll grief and jeer and generally make this an unfriendly environment to play in for the rest of us.

So the greater portion of Jedi who will quickly ascend to Masterhood ARE the powergamers...they were pattern seekers and holo-gimps at one time. How will YOU feel as Jedi knowing that these losers are amongst your ranks and even you don't have the power to set it right? Jedi knew from the beginning about permadeath (know character resetting) and that it would be the most epic class to reach. Like alot before me, I argue that you knew the deal getting into this and it's a smart thing to keep in place. Jedi ARE badasses, if not always in PvP - far greater than other characters have the potential to become and even having the slot is a mark of presige. More than any other class, they have the potential to make or break the game.

For those of you reading this with your FS slot open who aren't the l337 doods, again I apologize. But I honestly believe that you're the exception to the rule. Maybea coupleyears from now when the casual and RP players are getting their slots that'll change, but the entrenched characters will still be the grinders who somehow mastered 30-some professions.

Use the Force wisely...

Oh, and flame_on!

Don't get me wrong - I'm a holo-grinder at the moment myself. I wanted to stay a tailor forever, and figured the road to Jedihood would allow that, but with all the info we have now, that was my choice. Being that the tailor was better off than any starting character, he had to be the one (my BH is in noobville on Naritus) so I will soon be giving it up. Anyway, there are Jedi out there that I respect - they make good arguments on this board. It's just that there are also the l337 doods and griefers who will tarnish the Jedihood that any others attain.

This game has potential if the players themselves don't ruin it.

My 2 credits worth....

A very simple retort to your post:

At one time yes everyone was a pattern seeker. I still consider myself a hologimp. Allow me to defime hologimp in the manner I use it:

Hologrimp:

The state of your character once you have completely destroyed your template. The state of being useless in what you don't want to play because a Holocron told you to. Example: Formerly being a Bounty Hunter smuggler fighting high end game for nice loot. Being forced to take up Dancing or Music because a holocron advised you to open you slot. Thus you are gimped from doing what you enjoy.

Regarding the pattern seeker...

They honestly need their own place to post seeking help. Either that or the people that have unlocked their slots need one. This board is littered with people looking for help on a silent profession. Its been said by a CSR (in another post) that your professions are entirely random. They are only hindering and burying the posts attempting to solve the current issues Jedi have.

Congratulations on learning Rule 1 of forum trolling:

1) If your first argument is proven completely stupid and pointless, come up with a new completely stupid and pointless argument while calling the intelligent poster dumb.

Feel the love! hehe

How bout this for the guy who is worried of Jedi Griefers. IF you make it to jedi master. No perma death. But each time you die your locked out of the game for a week. Would keep people from 'pwning' the starport, and would actualy allow us to see some master jedi's in action. Personaly I hate the idea of perma death. Not only for me. But for anyone who has spent months trying to build something up only to loose it.

As to AP pts? We should be able to get scout or brawler or something.. so we can at least teach some people something. Scout would actualy be a nice thing to have.. Jedi should have some kind of trade where they can be incognito. Not click '...hmm no title.. no master badges.. Oh.. a Jedi I see!'
