Armor resistances will also be reduced. There won't be 90% resists anymore. So, it is possible that it will change to energy but once again the devs have failed to clarify on their statements.
Trying to predict what is going to happen in this game is something like this: You're sitting in school (on your computer) and the teacher (a dev) hands you a book with a bunch of pages torn out (incomplete info they give) and telling you to try to figure it out. ![]()
Partly it might still be they aren't even absolutely sure what they are going to do yet.

I say we pettition that LS damage remain. I mean what's so bad with 3 damage types anyway?

Fortunately this is only speculation, if i remember correctly one of the reasons the damage type was changed after theJedi Revamp (and the removal of our ability to wear armour and weild our weapons effectively or use our powers) was due to our inability to both deal damage and be able to absorb it, effectively crippling Jedi as a playable class in reguards to mainstream PvP and High End PvE (this would have made those who keep calling for the removal of Jedi as a playable class extremely happy though).
We'll just have to wait and see what the Combat Revamp brings but i expect that unless Jedi are also given the ability to wear armour again that the damage type on Lightsabers will not be classed as a "base" damage type (though the Heat Elemental damage type may be used as it would also fit with the theoretical mechanics of a Lightsaber and its operational functions)
MOBS won't be easy after the CU, infact I'm scared sh*tless thinking how a Rancor might be, they might be able to pick you up, swing you around and throw you against a tree and let out a sheer roar...

Yeah they do more damage BUT I can still beat 'em everytime with my 600 max dmg LS...
