Ok, first off, there are currently many dissenting threads about the current situation, this will not be one of them. Rather I felt like giving our Correspondent and the Devs a basis on which to focus, contructive feedback and current issues (not talking about FRS or pearls) so they know exactly whywe are frustrated.
To begin, I will start with: The Devs.
It is an amazing feat to create such a game that which draws us in so avidly and becomes a big enjoyment for our leisure time. With that being said well done on that. Now, that also has its double-edged sword as well. When people start to get wrapped up in the game they begin to take it more seriously, most of the veteran players in the game are indeed jedi. Not to say there are not experienced non-jedi, but lets face it, regardless of who you are to get from non-glowie to full temp paddy takes a good amount of time and effort. When anything gets a change (I hesitate to use theterm "nerf") people are often going to look at it very closely ESPECIALLY when it comes to a profession people put so much time and effort into.
A good example is on the beta forums when our corrospondent posted a question about "fixes" to movement debuffs, action costs and avoid incapacitation. That thread was also a discussion thread and was asking for a Dev reply or clarification (such as the role of Avoid Incapacitation and what it should be used for), it also had THE most posts for an actual specified thread. No such reply was given NOR relayed to the community. Why? We don't know. All that said to us was "are they even listening?"
With patch 24 came some great enhancements to some classes that needed some improvement. However it was things that NO ONE asked for that boggled the minds of so many. Take for example the movement debuff change. Yes you explained what that whole thing entales, but the underlying theme when I personally read all the explanation for it was.... why? Where did you as the Devs get the idea to make a ranged profession with root and combat medic able to kite ANY melee player without fear of even getting hit? TheONLY reason I didn't get upset about this was because of the change that would add a much higher action cost to non-force heals that would "balance" out the ridiculous heal cycles we are seeing from Docs and CMs - but alas, that change was revoked. The logic behind this makes no sense. In my opinion, this debuff override is too much. Now for the avoid incapacitation change (which still remains unanswered by a dev) what is the role of AI? Is it an escape tool or tank tool, or just what it says... avoiding incap, which is another term for prolonging your death. The now required equipping of a saber to use force powers...... come on.... I could bring more examples, but I know you read the forums so I shouldn't waste your time listing them all.
Now for the: Jedi Corrospondent. (As copied from an earlier post of mine)
Bac,
I understand how daunting (especially as of late) your position must be for you. Alot of flames have been unjustly coming your way. From alot of the posts I have been reading it seems alot of people are asking for something we just are not seeing. Your input. I am not flaming you nor trying to tell you how to do anything, but personally and from what I am hearingto decrease the drama you may need to be more prevelant.I know you don't want to lose your position and nor would I, but right now especially it might be more prudent to be a tad more outspoken about your personal thoughts. I am not asking for a play by play, but if you are as "silent" as the Devs are about what you are doing and saying people are going to continue to assume things and come to their own conclusions.
Yes, I know another corrospondent will probably post something along the lines of "he is not allowed to say much." I personally beleive thats a CHOICE not a direct stipulation of the position. Some of the other correspondents let their thoughts and opinions known on a daily basis, and even if he cannot discuss things because of an NDA or whatnot, he could say "I was discussing the"blank" this week with the Devs, and will let you all know if I can post what they had to say or IF they have something to say here."
Another example would not to be so much taking the Dev's side..... I am refering to your post on the Beta forums refering to the Avoid Incap change as a "fix" (which btw we have never gotten a response for). Heck, that to me had the termunnecessary-changeall over it.
I know to some it would seem like a waste of a post, but to others it would give them the impression "Hey this guy is still pushin for what needs to be done," and most of us can respect that.
Bac, I think your doin a fairly good job, I am just suggesting maybe stepping out of the box a lil and "quelling the uprisings" by upping the level of communication. No doubt I will get flamed by this, but please note my intent of writing this is to help our corro out and vicariously help all jedi in the game out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know I am taking a risk writing all this, but we as the jedi community cannot just "pound" our wants into the devs, they need to see that this is effecting and IMPACTING our enjoyment of this game. I know they want to do whats best for SWG, but they need to see that the only way they will be able to do this is to communicate more and come out of the caves.
I have seen more devs on the forums the last month just because of the beta, why isn't it always like that? Wouldn't it be nice to see that many devs listening and you KNOWING that they are taking your concerns to heart? I know I would. Let us, as a community STAND TOGETHER and say "look these changes were unwanted and unnecessary, not just for us but for the game, will you heed our call?" Only time will tell......
I also ask that if others with CONSTUCTIVE and REALISTIC feedback or suggestions for our Jedi Correspondent or the Devs to please post them below. I ask if you have a flame to just hold your breath on this one - I know someone will not agree with this post, but with all the negativity maybe this is a change that is needed no? Anyways, have a nice day!
