If the Devs (or more importantly those who sign the devs pay checks) cares about you, your ideas, your thoughts, or how you feel, they would send out an e-mail questioning you. They have all of your e-mail addies and they never have sent out such a mail to find out how we feel. When they do, that will be the first real sign they care what any of you have to say.

Or like CU, ask when you exit Test Center. But then, everyone hated the CU and that didnt matter then either.

grief - this would be like the most impossible thing for a game dev team to do - and its why they have correspondents and forums - there are lots and lots of people that play this game - a mass email askking for oppinions would produce soo much data that noone would ever be able to read through it. Its a nice idea in theory - but in practice no way its possible

It isnt possible? Sure it is. How many of us have recieved an e-mail verified link to an online questionair?

Each of them are not read. The results are given as a percentage for each question.

The first sign that they care is when they pull out...

I would like to take a minute to point out that anything I may have written in the above post in no way reflects badly on SOE or any of its affiliates, and in fact I am ecstatic and overjoyed that I am able to participate in such a well-programmed, bug-free, and engaging game with such wonderful and helpful forums moderated by such fine and upstanding people. Please don't permaban my account. Thankyou.

The second sign they care is when the entire dev team goes to your house, sits down and chats for several hours with you, finding out what you want in the game. Then they go back in between visits and make the game exactly the way you want it. When they finish it, they send you a free copy on a solid gold CD, packaged together with a new Porsche.

And Tiggs names her first-born child after you.

I think its something the development team should look into. At the moment the devs seem more concerned with running pointless wookie contests and Tiggs trackers games then dealing with the opinions and views of the comunity. I believe someone posted that there had been 1000 posts in one day about the change to pearl drops and yet no response. Are we just talking to ourselves, if the devs dont value the views experessed on these board then they should ask their customers in a manner they are happy with, if this is survey that comes up when we log out (that way everyone would have an option to answer it) or something sent to E-mail then this should be done.

Given in nearly every instance the players have more of a clue of whats balanced and whats junk than the devs they could save themselves a lot of time if they just listerned to their customers.

someone should tell those same people about this forum and the over 1 million posts in the jedi forum. maybe you're the one to do it since you're obviously keen.

So far I think the dev team for COH has been the best I have ever seen, they read the forums and post regularly (not the correspondants only but actual devs and the head dev as well). Every week they would all go on the test server at the same time and same place where you could openly talk to them. You could send them private tells and get real responses. There were patches that got put out and people werent happy with small things such as spawn times etc and at times the head dev responded within 30 minutes that changes were made because of the large amount of complaints. That is how a dev team should operate. I will never hesitate to pay a monthly fee to them since they listen to the customer to improve the game. Another nice thing they did is test out new updates for quite a long period on test so that when they went live they went as smooth as possible (there were still problems with the large ones but its to be expected in a morg).

It's not unusual for companies, when faced with a product that isnot doing so wellin the marketplace, to hire third party research firms to poll their customerbase and the market to determine what the product is lacking.

I seem to remember the poll given when the CU was on test center, it even was accompanied by the ability to add commments. So, this can be done easily and SWG/SOE already has the ability to initiate it. They just dont.

I submitted a ticket in COH (City Of heroes) and The next 4 days I got like 5 emails telling me what they were doing and asking if this helped, I replied to the email and They Answered my Reply !!!! OMG.. It can be done. A dev Team and the PR team can Answer you if they want to. And this was an Ingame ticket and they replied Via Regular mail. NCSOFT! AWSOME. Just wish their game was a bit deeper.

This thread reminds me of that almost unanounced discussion group they held in santa clara(I think thats where it was). Anyways I would really like to hear from anyone who actually attended that one since it was such short notice and notat all represents a majority of the player base. Its like saying for the next 15 mins on the surface of the moon we will be accepting feedback from you about changes you would like to see in the game, although there will be a heavy screening process and long lines.
