Thread: the stage is set...speculation on ToOW and FRS before NDA's prevent us from discussing publicly.

disclaimer: purely speculation

factors:

sidekick system

blue glowy obi-wan on mustaphar

necessity of reintroduction of FRS

statement that even dark jedi will be drawn to completing the trials

Jedi vs Sith does not = Rebel vs Imperial

revamps of two of the three professions most integral to modern warfare (ranger, squad leader....expect commando tweaks to follow)

hints ofand increasedGCW conflict with bh/smuggler, ranger/ranger, and ranger/smuggler minigames.

ok, folks, here is what I see shaping up:

Obi-Wan felt he failed Anakin, his padawan, byallowing him tobe turned, and by not finishing him...emotional attachment got the better of him, he couldn't bear to endanakin....he partially redeemed himself by beginning lukes training, but could not risk the same happening again...the time had come to become one with the force, so he allowed himself to fall at the hand of vader....

of course, we saw him in the movies providing guidance as a blue glowy....but we don't know the whole story...there were others...he needed to ensure the Sith would be defeated...and mustaphar held great signifigance to him...a natural location for him to pace through and rethink the events that transpired there....he drew these others to him, to learn, to gain power...but also to ensure that they were taught not to make the same mistakes.

ok, enough about the obvious background, moving on:

those Jedihad already obtained knight status pre cu, upon completion of theFRS trialswill become "alpha" knights...these alpha knights will be able to take padawans as students, and their advancement hinges on their padawan completing the trials (one application of the sidekick system)...the padawans must be paired with a knight to even begin the trials....

now this part is important, there is no "dark jedi order" Dark Jedi (excluding the Non-Jedi dark adepts trained by the emporer and commonly called "dark jedi") are individuals who recieved Jedi training, then turn to the dark side....so, you guessed it...all Jedi, regardless of faction advance to knight status through the same process....however....advancement to master is a long and ardious process that can only be undertaken by a knight/guardian and their former padawan (current knight)...

there is an easier, and quickerpath however....should one of the parties "turn" on the other and defeat them in combat, they break the bond and cross over to the dark side....this leaves the remaining Jedi unattached and necessitates another bonding in order to start again....the now "dark" Jedi, on the other hand will seek either a jedi apprentice to turnor a dark master...

in any event...at some point of advancement, it becomes necessary to seek out and destroy opposing forces...most likely through a system very similiar to the BH missions, but allowing for the sidekick system ie both apprentice/master on both sides are capable of participating.....

Obi-Wan will make it very clear however that the enemy of a Jedi is not imperial agents, who are by and large, ignorant, and have been decieved...but rather, the Sith and Dark Jedi...as such, there should be no forced overt status or requisite GCW participation....

allFRS advancement will be based on trials and fair stakes combat between a Jedi and his/her apprentice/master and a Dark Jedi and his/her apprentice/master....there may even be an event in the transition between paddy and knight similiar to the battle on dagohbah between luke and his own darkside thrown in.

this gives both Jedi and Dark Jedi a reason to stay out of the GCW...you just never know when there will be an attack....and the newly improved GCW related professions and coming GCW enhancements and minigames will ensure that non-jedi are active in a war that is rightfully theirs...while not barring a Jedi from stepping in, if they are willing to risk being attacked by their real opponentswith FRS advancement at stake, just to kill some soldiers that do not play into the grand sceme of things.

No clue how things will really work out, but this sounds star warsy...and all the pieces are coming together to support it...just figured I'd throw it out therefor whatever purpose it may serve while I still could. (before we actually know anything at all,NDA's /grumble.eheh)

format tweaked on behalf of the guy who didn't say "eighth" /shakesfist

Interesting idea. Not sure if I buy it. Fix the format though...it's a real pain to read.

lol.. ok.. i read the same post as you, where did you extract this from? This is the jedi forums dude. He is talking about stuff that relates to jedi, of course the new expansion will have non jedi content, devs already stated so.

Which is exactly why it won't happen. There's nothing in this game even vaguely starwarsy except for the art. (And don't say jedi, the only thing swg "jedi" have in common with jedi is they both carry a glowbat.)

I see major problems with the Master and Apprentice sytem of this nature. First of all I do not want my advancement to be dependent on any other players play time and play style. Even my best friends in the world get bored to tears of Star Wars non content and go play other games. Why would I want to have a single Master that if his wife is pissed at him for playing to long my advancement gets stimied?

NOT.\\

I do like the idea of lower level Jedi being able to have "Master's" and gaining power and training from them, but I dont want my progression to be tied to another player for any reason.
