Before it wasn't such a huge problem becuase it was not known exactly how to reproduce it, but it was happening and unless you were the type of person to pay attention to every little detail of what your doing in combat (checking combat spam, the timing of attacks and type of attacks), then you probably would not have known there is an issue. Unfortunately I believe that since a few people have brought this /bug to the attention of the forums instead of keeping quiet and submitted it to the devs only, they have only exposed players seeking any advantage they can get and it has cause many players to try and learn how to reproduce the /bug at will. The fact is that it's so easy to do (you can do it with one finger...LOL) that people seem to be finding and using it a lot now.

For future reference, my advice to players is that when you find a /bug that's like this one. Submit reports to the devs, CSR's or correspondents "ONLY". Keep the knowledge that the bug even exist out of the public forums for if you do post it, it will only open the flood gates of people finding and reproducing the /bug and that's when the playing experience is ruined for many players.

I'm all for alerting players of game breaking /bugs to protect themselves from losing items and such (like the weapon decay /bug or the /bug that allowed a player to /open characters inventory and take their items that we had in the past). Those kinds of /bugs should be brought to the attention of players, but /bugs like this current one should not in my opinion.

its out of hand...80% of people pvp'ing..least on my serverare doing it..jedi and non-jedi alike that i used to have respect for are using it. its a shame..says alot about someone character. im assuming they think that since so many use it then nothing will be done to them..and they are probably right.

Questions being asked in this post...

1) Is this a pistoleer skill or a bug?

2) Do jedi skills such as applying aura or infuse not start the 4 second cooldown timer to prevent saber hits until after that time?

Last night Tanda experienced her second really short BH death since making full template.

After the first one, from several nights ago, I scanned back in the log and found a couple groupings of one and two second hits on Tanda. The BH was pleasant and told me he was using quickdraw. Strangely enough that never showed in the log and it is difficult for me to believe a pistoleer would be intentially designed to be able to hit much faster than other elite players thus delivering major damage in a very short time.

The second BH, from last night, was also aparently a pistoleer and he had me scrambling several times to heal-heal-heal even with infuse and aura applied on a MDef template. I tried to apply Valor last night, but missed it and forgot about it as I was focusing on delivering damage.

Is this truly a pistoleer skill to be able to hit this quickly? I thought all players had a 4 second cool down between shots? I ask if this is a low level skill as "BH" was only using the low level "stopshot" skill.

-OR-

Is it instead a macro that has "/[GoodShotOfSomeKind];/rangedshot;/[GoodShotOfSomeKind];/rangedshot;/macro [callmyself]"? I have seen this bug in action where any combat professionplayer can get a hit to go off as often as once a second by spamming an alternating hit macro!

I know I would have done better if I had ensured aura and infuse had reapplied, but when I looked at my stat readout the infuse was still showing. According to the log it hadn't reapplied, so who knows? To combat thisflurry of fast attacks, valor would have caused a bunch more misses! Believe me I have re-evaluated the shortcomings I brought to the fight...

I took the time to blot out the BH's name as this is not just a possible issue with a specific person, but rather a probably system problem that needs to be fixed...

Clicky screenshot page 3 A bit of screen 2 log is on screen 3 (up to the electrolyte drain)

Quick summary on the screenshots:

137 seconds: Total fight time

4.2seconds on averagebetween the 25 actions for Tanda (does not include the one stim heal)

3.11 Average seconds between the 44 actions for "BH"

-or-

2.95 avg seconds between 46 actions for "BH" if two suspected heals were actually CM heals. I am not certain about the combat spam for another player healing using a stim versus a med skill, it is possible that the two heals that happened in a 2 second gap were CM heals.

Lines with a * were not counted as an action against cooldown counter Times (_s are lapsed time in seconds from the previous action I have highlighted in red areas where less than a 4s cooldown occured. Yes, I noticed when I clicked between two hits for Tanda quickly she may well have landed a hit because of a "bug?" as well...

For those wondering about the logs... a little background... I have a key-press mapped to do a /join that I accidentally hit a couple times during the fight. My knockdown recovery is mapped to a ctrl+right click on the mouse and I use CRL+QWERT presses to apply most of my combat hits and right-click to move so on occassion I accidentally try to do knock-down recovery when I am not knocked down - happened once in this fight. I am not a perfect fighter and will not claim to be. I never applied states in this fight, mostly because it ended so quickly and I found myself having to spam heals twice during the fight much to my surprise! As you could tell I definetely was delivering damage enough to keep the BH healing and almost had him (I thought) about halfway through the fight. In most of my Jedi vs BH fights I have found that all I need is forceinfuse coupled with my high defenses and I will maintain my health bar well above 50%. I typically only use force if I decide to fight back or need a big one off heal.

Edit: Silly clickies didn't stick (and wow! I had some neat comprehension and grammar errors!)

Bah! I give up on trying to get the line spaces the way I want. Too much work to get that right, then go to html edit and put in the clickies, then post and find some of the hard returns/<divs> are changed. LOL!

Anyone have thoughts, opinions?

Thanks!

Well, cant find "quickdraw" there either. But I am not sure if it shows in combat. Need to check this with my char on Infinity. But I guess because it is "only" an attack with faster recharge-rate. (Basic in Marksman x4xx, improved in Pistoleer xx1x and Advanced in Master Pistoleer)

So, what do we have?

MBH

at least xxx1 in Pistoleer (I guess it would show "with Improved Stopping Shot" if the BH had xxx3)

and I guess 44x4 in CM (cant find the xx4x attacks. Maybe the BH didnt use them though)

So, it could be the (so called) FOTM

MBH

MCM

Pistoleer xxx3

and he/she didnt use all specials.

Now to the your question:

Well, I need to ask something myself for that: Did he/she have an Adrenalin-Buff?

ive seen ingame movies of some pistoleers with basically non existant cooldown timers. not sure what causes it, but it means that i can heal alot faster with a pistol equipped than with a rifle equipped.

I know exactly how this was done and I've had it done to me by several ppl on our server most in one guild so i figured out how it is done and it is scary how much damage you can do in a short period of time i am able to spam saberpowerattack every 2 seconds it is supposed to take 6, i killed a lair of cl 64 hurtons on ONE SECOND using spin attack hit the lair and all the hurtons for a total of 3k damage each hitting spin 3 times in one second. This is going straight to tiggs as soon as i have a chance to ss it and maybe even have a csr come watch it happen unfortunately there is no way for you to combat it except to /report. And yes i believe you can do this with any profession

This is a /bug that is extremely reproducable. Any profession can use this /bug with any special ability including healing, DOTS, power attacks, everything. The issue has been submitted to the devs about a week ago to my knowledge by a few people. So It will probably be a while before we see a hot fix for it....however, if it starts to get out of hand, the devs may jump on it a bit quicker so for anyone experiencing this kind of thing happening to them (or your doing it to another player by accident of course), then you should report it to the devs quick. Anistasio, you know why everyone is using it....it's because everyone is using it. If everyone around you is using something that gives them an advantage over you and you know you have the ability to use that advantage also, your gonna use it because if you don't, your chances of being competitive or winning is slim and none.

Point is that it takes real integrity to enter a pvp fight where this /bug is being used on you and you refuse to use it yourself. Your probably gonna lose the fight, but that's the choices people have and unfortunately most people are not willing to just throw in the towel.

Put it this way, (being reminded of katrina and new orleans right now).....before the hurricane hit, I am willing to bet there are people in new orleans that would never steal or loot....but afterwards, seeing the situation they are in, they have no choice but to loot food and such or lay down and die. Now that's more serious than this game but the same principles is there. In game, if you choose not to use this widely available /bug that you know is being used against you, then you are basically hurting your own chances of winning.

They do 7.5k damage to you in 5 seconds.

You keep your integrity and play the way it's supposed to be done but your only doing 3k damage in 5 seconds.

Guess who will win if the fight continues this way.

I don't agree with using it, but I will be damn if I don't use it ifa BH comes for me and is using it......However, I'm not pvping now days. I'm too busy grinding, not really gaining loads of vis either so haven't had a BH come for me...so no pvp. So it's kinda easy for me not to use this /bug.

i understand completely. but when a group of 8 use it while fighting a group of 2 i mean..c'mon.i totally understand that its almost required to pvp atm or its certain death.. especially for the padies fighting against bh's using it cause they actually lose something there. and what sad is theres nothing that can be done or any punishment or re-emberssment in that instance...so i dont have hard feelings that peops do it..just disappointed i guess.

you know what the really disappointing thing is, The devs will simply end up nerfing speed so bad we will be stuck attacking once every 5 seconds max...loleither that or they will just say screw it because everyone is using it and has access to it and that doesn't exactly make it unfair or unbalanced. If you had to do some extra stuff to get the advantage, it would be another story, but all you have to do is press buttons, nothing more. So even the devs can't say someone is doing it on purpose....about the only indication someone is doing it on purpose is when you read their combat log and see 4, 5, 6 or more of the same attacks in a row all within 2 - 3 seconds of each other.

I won't jump to conlcussions though....I think the devs can still fix it since it obviously has to do with timers. Checks can be put into place to prevent it just like the checks that see if you already have a certain buff and won't allow you to do another buff of the same type until the timer runs out. So a check can be put into place where you won't be allowed to fire off that same special again regardless of other cooldown timers.

I am a BH and I refuse to use this to win a battle I find it cheap. Sure everyone can use this /bug. I won't head out and hunt jedis anymore because most will asume I am just some exploiter trying to get a cheap kill and they will start off with one of my fav's Armor Break then a saber toss every 2 sec for well over 700 damage a hit...
