Thread: A factual opinion on how to unlock fs.

Now before you read this, don'tdis me and tell me that it's wrong just because this is my first post.

I've been reading all of the posts and the jedi faq, and i have come up with my own idea of how to become fs. I believe that a major part of it is filling up all of your skill points for your character. This fits certain things that were said about unlocking a fs slot.

First, this way is not based upon luck in any way. They said that unlocking fs would not be based upon luck.

Second, this also supports the statement that they made when they said that both hardcore and casual gamers could become fs, but it would take a casual gamer longer to achieve such a goal. Filling up you skill points would take a casual gamer much longer than a hardcore player.

Third, this proves the fact that every character's path would be different because no two people use all their skill points in the exact same way. Someone could use them to become a weaponsmith and some minor stats while another person could use them to become a bounty hunter.

One of the doubts I have about this method is that it is too simple if it's true. I think that this may be only a part of the journey to become fs, but you have to admit it fits into what they have said about unlocking fs. Of course there are probably many ways that can fit into this criteria that they have set, but this is only my opinion.

Well, if your idea was true, then everyone would simply buy every starting skill and chose the easiest xp path past Master Scout and Master Artisan...etc, until their points hit 0. I'm down to 43 skill points now and ifI took entertainer and brawler,I could spend the rest. I haven't even trained on some things because I don't wish to xp in that direction. If your theory was true andthe FS slot opens, mass Jedi unleashed! I'm sure some rabid player has tried this and if they did, it would be all over the boards. You have peeked my interest in testing this theory tho.

I realized this and that's why i think that this could be only one piece of the puzzle to unlocking a fs slot.

Remember, you only get to open an FS slot, not become a Jedi. Basically, you start over. It is a brand new character. The hard part is not going to be opening the slot, it is what will come after it that will be hard.

The easiest and fairest implementation would be to give every action in the game a hidden xp value. Some things may have a max, just like the current skill system, that way you can't "sit and stand" all day to get the FS slot. Eventually when you accumulate enough xp the FS slot opens. And nothing you do can take away from the xp.

To do it any other way would create paths for people to follow that would be dead ends. That way anyone who plays the game will have an equal chance and it will be different for everyone. Some of the maximums could be determined by profession but it probably wouldn't be a big influence.

I've ran around with 1 skill point for the lsat 5 days or so. Did of all of jabba's theme park since then, the jedi rebel chick's quest, a bunch of static quests from people in cantina's, ran deep into darathmor and endor..etc. Haven't seen any special poi's or anything of the sort yet.

We have a few things we can make some guesses on. One is the fact as stated above that it will be easier for powergamers to gain, which means two things not just one. Missions/Quests & Skills. The second thing is that you must interact with the game. Grinding is for sure out. Think how the devs would look at it, they know powergamers will grind to master however they also stated that it would for sure take months to open a FSS.

Possibilites under those rules:

- Choosen starting profession could be tied to character to create a master list of skills _you_ must aquire, they could be mean and make you master everything under that profession not many people will do that eh?

- Finish a path of quests, be it Neutral, Criminal, Imperial or Rebel.. gain access to bases and grab all the badges you can if you're a marksman. Crafters would use Neutral missions of surveying.

Testing path for FSS:

- Talk to every static NPC in the game, finish as many quests along your character path as possible (if you're Imp do all the Imp missions you can)

- Follow atleast two paths to Master. If you Master Creature Handler, drop it and master Ranger.

- Defeat every battlefield once

- Join in hunting party for every dungeon once (even you aspiring artisans)

*** Their might bea certain POI developed for your char that we have not been told about.. it would look identical to others just it would be classified as 'ours' ingame.. that could be the 'hidden' door we cant just reach

There has to be other interfaces with the game that I'm not completely aware of that also reach towards FSS. Post any here that I havent thought up.

Here is my theory on Jedi.

Just play the game, do missions, and just play. Do not worry about a force sensitive slot. The Dev's said themselves, that even the most casual player will have a chance.

So, to my point if you have not figured it out already. Do not stop theorizing, but just play the game. The FS slot will come to you, but if not, then just play the game.
