Thread: Since Melee def applies when holding a LS, does Ranged Def apply while using Force powers?
Pistol/Rifle/Carbine = Ranged Weapon > Ranged Defence
Nothing = Unarmed > Melee Defence
okay, so if this is true, which makes sense, then NO jedi tree should have "Ranged Defense" in it. (ie Defender and Aura) as this is a complete and utter waste. This also applies to the other professions as well, but at least there there is a possiblity that you could mix and match. Not with Jedi.
So clearly this is a bug and piss poor programing then.

hmmmmm
I always took it for melee def is def vs a melee attacker and ranged def was def vs a ranged foe.........Am I crazy?

Theres your answer to this situation.
Im sure at some point the developers will write it off as "working as intended" and try to sweep it under the rug with many another miswritten code... but the original intent when handing out the skills to each proffession, and the original descriptions of these abilities when the CU went live all point to the fact that the melee/ranged defense numbers were intended to be "defense against" rather then "defense with".
And this hits many non jedi proffessions much harder then it does jedi.

How dumb, guess I can take the skillpoints for that row and chuck them somewhere else. What would you guys suggest? Im currently: mls / 4000hlr / 3002 enh / 4440def. Perhaps getting the force armor?
force armor 4tw

That is correct, unless you're going to be using a rifle/ranged wepon regularly
