Thread: [The Jedi Guide]: Can you play a Jedi?
A lesson in Jedi behavior, taken from various sources.
Any player who decides to play a Jedi should first ask, "Is this really the character I want to play?" Think about why you want to play a Jedi character. What appeals to you about the Jedi? Is it the lightsaber? The Force? If so, ask yourself if you could enjoy playing a Jedi who had no access to either one. Would it still be appealing? If the answer is no, you might prefer a different class, becouse every Jedi's goal on a mission is to accomplish missions without resorting to violence or even using the Force. Take those characteristics away from a Jedi, and what you have left is responsibility, self-discipline, and public service.
If you don't think you'd enjoy a character with a code of conduct, you might want to reexamine your decision to play a Jedi. It may not be the challenge you're looking for.

"Form Zero"
Form Zero was the basis for instruction of lightsaber combat that was originally defined by Jedi Master Yoda in describing the lightsaber technique of Felanil Baaks. The art of Form Zero lies in a lightsaber that has not been ignited. A Jedi cannot protect and serve the galaxy in the Jedi way if he/she does not know when to draw his/her sword and when to resort to different means of solving a problem. The knowledge, understanding, and wisdom behind the idea of right and wrong encompassed the idea that a Jedi who feels the necessity to use Form Zero, the absence of violence, is truly gifted in the ways of the Force.

Follow the Jedi Code
There is no emotion; there is peace.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no death; there is the Force.
Remember your goals:
Your goal for peace
Your goal for knowledge
Your goal for serenity
Your unity with the force
Lightsaber Syndrome
Martial Artists who reach a certain level of expertise might look forward to an opportunity to use what they have learned. They think: "I'm just waiting for somebody to give me grief so I can wipe the floor with him". Sometimes they get tired of waiting and actually become more belligerent and aggressive, in hopes of provoking someone into starting a fight. They have forgotten-or never quite accepted-that martial arts are about self-defense, not showing off what they have learned.
Some players who choose Jedi characters fall into the same mentality. Carrying a lightsaber and having Force skills presents a tremendous temptation to use them, and some players get anxious waiting for an opportunity to do so in the game. As a result, they begin practicing some very un-Jedilike behavior-attacking first, trying to solve every proble with the Force, and deliberately creating situations that might allow them to use their powers.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain Strength.
Through strength, I gain Power.
Through power, I gain Victory.
Through victory, My chains are broken.
The Force shall set me free.
