Thread: Necrosis Solo'ing Guide (With Video)[UPDATED with Publish 19 info]
I would say first and foremost, there are some essential things you need for doing this. Armor break is definitely needed. You will not be able to power out special attacks the whole time you are fighting, which means you need to make your default attacks as effective as possible. Not only that, but when you do use your power attacks, you will break through for more damage, and this is critical. This is a difficult encounter to solo and you must maximize how much damage you do while minimizing how much force you spend. Next, I feel having AT LEAST 2000 healer is a must...3000 Healer is certainly much better, and 4000 will put you over the top. The 1k heals are definitely necessary...500 will not cut it. As you can see from the combat spam, he hits me sometimes for nearly 1k per hit, and this is as a Master Defender with Aura up. That is a lot of damage and you need to be able to negate that completely sometimes. Following this, I would say having 0002 Enhancer is a given. If you can not Channel, it becomes insanely difficult (and for me, impossible) to solo this beast. Next, 0040 Defender is very much needed. I am a Master Defender and I still take a lot of damage, as you can see from the video. Having no innate armor will hurt quite a bit, but there are other things you can do to make up for it if you choose to only go the 0040 Defender route.
For the record, my template is Master Defender/0404 Sabers/4100 Healer/4004 Enhancer (now all the Rebels on Ahazi can be satisfied in knowing my exact template
)
Food/Doctor Buffs--Keeping your action as high as possible in this encounter is essential. You will not survive if you can not properly maintain this and use it to your advantage. Also, we want our Health as high as possible while doing this, but it is certainly a secondary priority when discussing what foods to eat. We want it high because we will be channeling frequently while in combat, and pulling your health down too low will mean you end up wasting force more than you do attacking which makes it a net loss in force rather than damage output. My personal choice for this is to drink some Mandalorian Wine, Pikatta Pie, and Crispic. The Wine will handle the buffing issues; the Pie will help you in taking a few less hits which means less healing, which essentially equates to spending less force in the battle; lastly, Crispic is something I like for this as the filling is low, but it helps drastically in getting a few more hits in, which again, means you spend less force as you will land more hits. If not, you may miss too much and end up wasting too much force repeating those attacks to get in the necessary damage. Lastly, I use Booster Blue for this. It will give you, most importantly, a larger Action regen and lasts for 15 minutes, which is just something you can't ignore.
As far as doctor buffs go, I have done it with and without buffs, and I can say that sometimes it was way too difficult with these because I got a 65k ham Necrosis, and other times it was manageable becauseI only got a 47k ham Necrosis. In general, I would say if you are serious about going in there solo, push on a Health pool/regen buff, mind regen buff, and most importantly, and action regen buff. Of all of those, the Action one is definitely most important.
Pre-Necrosis Strategy
I'm going to assume most people reading this far are familiar with how to get into the Necrosis instance. After you have returned the crystal to the droid, you are warped in. Take a moment to stop right there and regen if necessary. I would recommend not moving as if you go too far up, the timer may start (you only have 30 mins to complete the encounter). When you're ready, go take the crystal to Treun Lorn, and make sure you have something small to help your action out, perhaps a Blob Candy you took earlier and then maybe a Crispic to help if you have less accuracy in your saber skills. After you talk with Treun, stand far back enough away from the cell in the middle of the room and wait for the N-K Necrosis and his two droids to spawn. Once they have, run backwards going back to where you started. If you keep enough distance between you and the 3 enemies, eventually Necrosis will drop aggro. If he does not, put on burst run, and get him to somewhere where you can root/snare/KD him momentarily and pull the other two droids back down somewhere that you can go into battle without the big baddie interfering. It is important you separate them somehow...you really do not want to have to kill 3 mobs at once, especially when the N-K will take most of your attention. Once you have finished with those two droids, gain your force back and be prepared for a nasty fight...
Strategy for Defeating Necrosis
The actual routine I go through in the movie is rather simple. It is a combination of keeping his regeneration out of the picture, while refilling your own force to last the entire encounter. This is accomplished through using Channel and a low force/action cost default attack. The cycle essentially goes like this: Apply an Armor Break. Knock Necrosis down. Use 3 special attacks, whether they be HeadHit, PowerAttack, etc...just make sure you get in 3 and maximize your damage. After that, leave your default attack going (preferrably Saber Hit) and heal and Channel again until you can begin another round of knocking Mr. Necrosis down. That is essentially all there is to it. I'm sure many will try that at first, and die...it does take a lot of practice, that is for sure.
The important thing here, as I said, is to make his rapid regeneration null. You will simply not deal enough damage by going all out offensively before your force runs out...I just can not see it happening. His regeneration rates are so insane that when you look at how much damage you do, it's rather quite small compared to how fast he is building back up. The solution to this is to keep an Armor Break on him at all times. As soon as you see it fade, re-apply. Leave your default attack on Saber Hit and you will effectively eliminate the rapid regeneration rates...and you will actually do a little more damage then necessary, so you are clawing away at his health while this is going on.
As I said, the next step to this is the KD cycle. Know your timers on the KD. For those that haven't noticed, there is a small red line that jumps up and down on a mob after they have been knocked down. From what I can tell, while that is active, you can not KD them again. Once it disappears, you can. Anyone that can correct me on this is more than welcome to, as it is merely just my observations after having played the CU. Regardless, once you have the opportunity to land a new knock down, go for it, but do make sure he is armor broken. There are a few instances in my video where the AB falls off right as I KD him, and this robs me of a chance to sneak through more damage. So watch the timer on your Armor Break and KD, and use them when it is most effective. While he is knocked down, you want to land a succession of 3 powerful hits, so alternate between two (or more if you can do that) until he is back up and you are not receiving the KD damage bonus. These small cycles are what allow you to chip away at his health steadily while maintaining your force.
Just as a quick jump here, I'd like to also point out the importance of manually queueing up some abilities and NOT using macros for them, most notably would be Force Aura and Force Insusion. The problem with this is that if you use a macro for these, there is a possibility that you will push something into the queue at the same time your macro goes to execute the '/' command inside of it. If this happens, there is a chance that the command you enter manually will go through, and the command from your macro will be ignored, which of course leaves you very vulnerable, especially in the case of Aura. Some may say, "that's not a problem...just watch your timers." If you have to watch your timer on when the macro is going to repeat so you don't bump something out, why not just queue things manually and watch the timer on the toolbar and know when to re-do it. This is much less ofa hassle since you won't have to /dump things already going that have now failed because of a missed command. Just watch the time, and push things back into the queue. I usually put Aura back on with a second left so that I don't have a gap where he can bash my skull in...Infusion, I just try to replace as soon as I have a chance. Also, by doing things manually, you are not waiting on the system to re-execute your commands, you dictate when it will happen so you can put Aura back on faster if you are ready to string an attack or something like that.
The most important part of this all is, without a doubt, your force management. A simple thing I like to do is look at his HAM, then write that number down. Along my encounter, I mouse over my forcebar and note the percentage offorce there, then take that percentage and apply it to his Health and see if I am at least equal to thatpercentage that he is. If I have more force than he has Health, great...I'm doing good. If not, it's time to play a bit more defensivelyand be more conservative with my force. Channel is the key here...there is a great misunderstandingabout when to use this in combat. Outside of combat, it's pretty easy to see thatyou just sit down and/or Meditate and Channel away as you regenerate quickly. However, while in combat, it seems like many people try to Channel late in a battle. This is really, really bad. First, if youChannel late, you are pulling your Health down to lower levels...and, judging by the fact that you are admittedly behind in a fight, it seems less than wise to reduce your HAM further as you are basically now committed to healing more with lower health levels...which in turn makes you use more force, whichin the long run, makes you Channeling at that point completely worthless. Secondly, if youChannel late, you risk your foods running out at the wrong time and leaving youvulnerable to a massive attack. Imagine if yourSpice drops right as you are finishing up a Channel...not so great. Always, always, alwaysChannel early in a conflict. If you notice in the video, I go through a cycle and a few more hits to use up some force, then I immediately Channel.Keep your force up early while you are even with your target...it's better than waiting till the end where you can create a weak spot and possibly put yourself in a bad situation.Again, the key here is to use Channel with the cycles of attacks. You don't always have to only use your power attacks when he is KD...if you can sneak in a few more with some extra action while he is standing, then go for it. Just make sure youhave action at all times to ArmorBreak and then save up till you can Channel.
The 'phat lewt'
Necrosis will always drop at least 3 pieces of loot: A Bellbullab-22 Starfighter Deed (Grievous' ship), a cybernetic arm, and a random weapon. I personally can not even fly the ship, even though I've killed Necrosis over 60 times now, but I've seen screenshots and it's very, very sweet. I can't speak for stats and all that because I just honestly don't know. But they do sell on my vendor fast for 500k, so I assume peopleenjoy them. The cybernetic arm has an ability to 'shock' your opponent through the use of a '/' command. I haven't ever tried it, so I don't knowwhat it looks like or what it hits for, but I imagine it's nothing insanely overpowered, just kind of a neat toy. The random weapons you can get from Necrosis are really prettyawesome. There is a very large variety of weapons you can loot including pikes, pistols, rifles, and even aTKM weapon. I won't list them all here, but if you're interested, click in the link at the bottom by my sig and then go into my folder there on ImageDump and most should be at the bottom. Some of them are very nice, others seem like they are more for show, but they are all pretty cool
You also have a possible chance at looting thecoveted Bane'sHeart crystal from Necrosis. I don't know the exactodds, but I've had days where I've gone 1/15 on crystals, and other days where I will get two in a row...so it's really very random. I would say it is probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 1/15 though, as a rough estimate. The crystal itself is a pinkish/reddish hue and looks something like this, but the real nice part about it is that it has a higherelemental damage percentage that is calculated than normal color crystals...just likeSunrider's Destiny. This will be prettyuseful heresoon when we get the elemental damage fix we've all been waiting for. Theadded increase from these special crystals will be noticeable, so if you have time, try picking one of the two up.
Hopefully this guide has helped those of you out there wondering how I did this or wondering how you yourself canaccomplish it. I tried many times after the publish to defeat him solo, and I always wound up coming up short. I would say it is basically because I tried to be too offensive in my abilities. I am a MasterDefender, so it makes sense that Ishould try and win a battleby utilizing and extending mydefensive capabilities rather than trying to flaunt the offense that I just do not contain. For anyone though, going into this thing solo is a very nice challenge and you will feel a sense of accomplishment when done. It's one of the moredifficul thingsI've donein this game, and I'm happy I can offer some help out to the rest of you who want to try and do the same.
UPDATE:--I'm adding this info in as it's something I've observed but was never 100% certain on. It seems that when Necrosis spawns, he has a definite initial value HAM of 38K. The reason it goes up is that when he goes to one of the 'machines' or 'power cells' that spawns, he buffs his HAM for 5K more on top of the original value. This explains the odd values you see sometimes. With that said, it would be beneficial to spawn the Necrosis and droids in the video, then blow up the machine and cells at that point. It is possible (and in what I've seen, very likely) that while you defeat the droids, more cells/machines may spawn while you are fighting him. Hoever, it's probably better to destroy them all at first and lessen the probability that he is buffing his HAM the whole time. This doesn't change any of the other strategy really. You still should try fighting the same as you always do, but just take those pre-cautions at the start to make the battle a little easier on yourself.
Though...it was pretty cool killing 63k ones ![]()
UPDATES FOR PUBLISH 19....
First off--New Video..Necrosis vs. Intaru Part 2(approximately 25MB)
Seems like everyone is having a hard time keeping his health manageable. This is what I do essentially when I start the quest. After I speak to Treun, I stand a bit back from the main spawn point...maybe 10m or so away from that main machine where the droids spawn. As soon as I see yellow cells around me, I either put on FR2 or /burst and start nailing all of the machines. Sometimes they will instantly re-spawn, so kill them as soon as they do. After that, I try to 'shake' the aggro that Necrosis has on me so I can focus on the two droids and not be interrupted. This isn't always easy. I can't give a clear answer that will 100% always work because there just isn't one that I'm aware of. You have to be a little resourceful and creative when you want to lose aggro. If you have all the cells gone, then perhaps try to pull Necrosis and the droids past Treun and almost up to that little walkway that leads out past the gate towards where you leave the instance. Once there, stick a root on Necrosis and put him there so you can pull the droids back down. Sometimes you can also KD him and then run away or Snare him and achieve the same effect. Other times, it's just basically *not* touching Necrosis and running around so many times that he will eventually lose aggro on you.
Also, someone has recently given me a good suggestion on getting rid of Necrosis. If you follow the instructions given here, it seems to work well for getting the two NKs alone and no Necrosis bothering you. I have not personally tried doing it this way yet, but it seems like good advice. Thanks to menthena for the tip and time spent making the image!
Once you have somehow lost aggro on Necrosis, you need to pull the droids somewhere away from Necrosis so that he will not gain aggro again while you are killing him. I suggest around the corner where you warp into the spawn...just a little ahead. It is hard to describe, so I may need to do a new video for this. Nevertheless, pull them there and start going to town on the two droids. Here is the important thing: If you do happen to see a power cell spawn and it is not within close distance of Necrosis, I would RUN to it ASAP and take it down with saber Throw or whatever the fastest attack you can use as soon as you get in range. If it stays up too long, it doesn't matter if it's blown or not, he will regenerate and gain more health. I can say for sure that 40-50k Necrosis spawns are manageable...I have not done higher ones than that yet, and I would rather not. It can be done though if you do. If you get a spawn where he has more HAM, obviously, your mind is going to drain. When you start to see it get low, root Necrosis or keep him distanced so that you can run around and regain your mind. Never drop aggro though...if you drop aggro, you will cause him to regain his health at a much faster rate than normal while you are fighting. It's not easy, and maybe it would be good to suggest people do this with a doctor's buff...I currently am not.
It seems like the main key is that you want to fight the droids somewhere that you are in the closest distance of the power cell spawn points without getting aggro from Necrosis. For me, at least, this seems to be down a ways near where you spawn as there is one to the left and right that pop frequently, and then the machine is really not too far from that. All of them are within a saber throw distance if you move a little. This is the big issue. I will say for certain if he is at 50k or less, you can do it. Higher than that, I have not tried but I suspect with a good saber, the proper foods and a good strategy, it can be done.
Foods, again, are mainly going to be health buff foods and mind/action regen foods. The action regen isn't as key as it was before. Most are saying they like to use Breath of Heaven and then Canape(I think it is that regens mind? can't remember off the top of my head) to get a +250 regen bonus to mind. I prefer using Mando Wine because it has a high Health buff (+499 on my server) then +200 for both action and mind regen. The health regen of only +50 is negligible as it seems health never regens quickly enough for me. After that, I would say use Pikatta Pie which is just huge all around...one of my favorites. Next is Crispic...depending on who you ask, this is either helping or hurting you. From when I play, I say it helps me but I guess you would have to try for yourself. Next is the Booster Blue...use this and do not use Pixe. This has a health buff bonus, action and mind regen bonuses. The negative on it is a health regen decrease, and as I said again, we are not really concerned about that. Last, I've found that popping a few Synthsteaks at times where Necrosis seems to be hitting harder than normal or your mind is getting low will really help a lot. Sometimes when you get a heal in and it's not enough, waiting another 6 seconds or wasting a knockdown on him to stop him for a moment just won't work. For this, Synthsteak seems to help a lot in minimizing the damage so you can cheat a little on needing to heal. Steak with Infusion seems to be enough to ignore most incoming damage that you're taking so I would go with that. Others like to use Exo Protein Wafers, but for as long as I've played, I have usually found Steak fits my style better. On my server, we have a very good chef, the same one who produced the Mando Wine I use (thanks to Sativa, truly my favorite chef on Ahazi), and I can get Synthsteak that is focused around either Power or Time. For some PvP where it's just a duel and you want to shave a little damage off, Time crafted Steak may be better...for Necrosis, I reccomend ones crafted with Power in mind. The kind I have is 28 filling, 37 duration, and has a 44 mitigation bonus. As a MDef, I'm not sure exactly how much is beneficial with the diminishing returns and what not, but I can say that it does help quite a bit.
I have a post and pre-CU saber, and I actually have no problem using my post-CU one on this mission. I have it to 625-721, 95 SAC, 9FC...which is pretty good for post-CU. Considering I always have more than half my force after I defeat Necrosis, using a lesser saber is definitely NOT out of the question. It just comes down to a matter of managing your mind and how long you can really last. Like I said, you may need mind buffs for this, it would certainly help.
Combat
Basically, we don't have to worry much about Channeling...Action costs are reduced and our sabers are much more effective damage dealers. This means that you have to worry less about going slowly, and more about keeping your mind high as healing is the key to this now. Again, always keep Necrosis Armor Broken. This will add the extra damage that you need to nullify his insane regeneration rates. Secondly, always maximize your KD. Use a Power Attack while AB and KD and get in a nice shot which will knock out a large portion of his health. Then, it's simply a matter of keeping the AB on the entire time and alternating strong attacks. Force never has been an issue with me on this with a 9FC saber, and as you can see in the video, I end up with just about half force...so you can definitely do it with up to about 20FC or so I would imagine with no problems.
Healing
This has become the new worry before, taking the place of Channel. Mind is a big problem now along with our 6 second heal delay, so you need to do a few things. Always make sure you have a nice set of stims on hand. I'm using some 1253 heal ones that work just great. The timer is 60 seconds...you can take Ruby Bliel to alter this, but for whatever reason, that drink just does not work that great. It gives me one extra heal. I would say to save your drink space for something more worthwhile. But always make sure you are getting in your heal every 60 seconds as it lets you ignore the mind costs on our normal Jedi heals. Keep infusion up at all times. For only 10 force and a little mind, it's going to help keep you a bit higher and attacking instead of pausing to push a real heal through. But of course, mind is still a massive issue. All I can suggest for this is to take the proper food/drinks, spices and doctor buffs if you need them. I wound up just fine on mind and could probably do okay with a 70K HAM Necrosis. Synthsteak, as I mentioned in the intro for the Pub 19 section is our new 'cheat' for ignoring mind on this. As you can see from the video, it helps mitigate A LOT of damage...500-900 at any given time. That means we are healing less and letting our mind jump back up. This is a big help. I suggest finding some good Steak and trying it out for this and use it when you find yourself not wanting to use a heal.
May the force be with you...

nice guide
I tried to solo him on bria and went through my force bar and a holo and when i died he still had 3k health
i guess i wasnt doing it right lol
hehe ok now that i've actually read it.
I haven't noticed what you did about the red lines meaning a timer for KD. I usually assume the timer is 30secs, after which I can reapply an oftensuccessful KD. You might be right though (knowing you, I'm 99% sure you ARE right) and I'll watch for it.
Armor Break. Thank you so much for clearly pointing out to the entire community just how vital AB is. Some people just don't get it. Anyway, I've noticed that AB can be overlapped. If you have 10 secs left on AB and are able to KD the target again, simply click your armor break first, it will be at full timer now. Then KD and hit your 2-3 large dmg attacks.
I haven't tried NK Necrosis yet. As a matter of fact, I have yet to buy the expansion. However, a few things.
1. I can imagine that using sap/shock and states can be useful, but will drain force if used too often. Blinding and stunning him will cut down on how often you must heal yourself. These skills obviously cost force to use and I'm not sure if it's more or less force cost effective to use states or simply keep on the heals.
