There are simple truths about jedi that everyone needs to be aware of, there are also concerns and problems that also need to be addressed. Let's work together to get the problems fixed and the truths accepted.

Facts:

  • Jedi is a pvp profession. This includes Jedi vs Jedi, jedi vs everyone else, and jedi VS BH. This won't and shouldn't change. It is what identifies us as jedi. Without these aspects, we are just a normal profession with a glowing sword. If you don't want to pvp, then don't be a jedi.

  • Jedi will be adjusted. The SWG team has been trying to find "balance" since the first jedi unlocked and have been unable to find that balance...simply because it doesn't exist. With the ebb and flow of the system due to patches and nerfs, our skills will be more and less effective . We have been reduced in power and that will also go up and down. Jedi need to adapt to the changes and be examples to the rest of the SWG community as to how players should react to change, as opposed to the crying that we have seen on these boards since the CU. Pre-Village, this forum was the end-all be-all of SWG knowledge...a community to be proud of. Now? We are the laughing stock of SWG because of the constant whining.

  • Pearls/Crystals will be adjusted at some point...this will be both good and bad, it will be broken and require several patches to fix. Deal with it.

  • The FRS will come back, require some pvp and those that can't deal with "forced pvp" will whine and complain about it. Oh well.

Problems:

  • Fix lightsaber speed bug

  • Powers is completely hosed up and needs a revamp to become what it was supposed to be.

  • Healing needs to be rethought and made viable. This is the most important fix to our profession!!!!

  • Lightsabers need to be rethought to achieve some balance with other jedi and other professions.

  • We need a concept proposal about the FRS from the Devs. We need to be included in the design of this.

For the most part, our biggest enemy and generator of hate is other Jedi. We need to focus on providing realistic solutions to these problems and stop with the rediculous nerf calling on our and other professions. If you want to be pve only, would you be willing to have your power reduced to the same as a normal profession? Before responding to that, keep in mind that normal professions, including Bounty Hunter (of which I hve intimate knowledge) are NOT as strong as 99% of all jedi. Even the MCM/MBH's fall to most jedi. If you doubt me, make one yourself and find out what the other side of the fence is like. PVP jedi should be stronger than any other profssion, hands down. This, hopefully, is what the new FRS will be like.

If you ask for Player Bounties to go away, you ask for a nerf on Bounty Hunters. If you ask for MCM's healing and dots to be nerfed because you can't heal as well, then you destroy another profession because you are a lousy player. What's next? Let's nerf Pistoleer because they have roots and bleeds. Let's nerf Tailors because the can make clothes and we can't. Let's nerf Doctors because they can buff and we can't. What about image designers? Where does this all stop? If you have an alt, I suggest you play it for a few weeks and really remember what NOT being a jedi is like. I guarantee that your viewpoint will change.

I actually do manage, as a lightsider, to avoid PvP 99/100 times. I don't begrudge it, I'm a BH too.I do care that my BH has a better weapon at 1/10th the cost as my lightsaber.

  • Jedi will be adjusted. The SWG team has been trying to find "balance" since the first jedi unlocked and have been unable to find that balance...simply because it doesn't exist. I'd include the GCW and BH forums in the realm of major whinefest locales too.

  • Pearls/Crystals will be adjusted at some point...this will be both good and bad, it will be broken and require several patches to fix. Deal with it.

Well the only problem is that if FRS comes back and things are fixed, it's going to be a series of very one sided fights. At least if the Pre-CU Jedi had/has any time in to learn their temp.

  • The FRS will come back, require some pvp and those that can't deal with "forced pvp" will whine and complain about it. Oh well.

Well I personally don't know about FRS. I didn't bother with the old one, I might or might not bother with this one. I didn't have the high-end saber before, and I still have yet to complete it. This renders me a target, so until I can get a worthy weapon competing in it is not something I'd enjoy.

Problems:

  • Fix lightsaber speed bug

Please.

  • Powers is completely hosed up and needs a revamp to become what it was supposed to be.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Powers needs to be point for point as powerful as lightsaber. Maybe a *hair* higher FC because of the range difference, but just a HAIR.

  • Healing needs to be rethought and made viable. This is the most important fix to our profession!!!!

Yeah healing is borked pretty bad...

  • Lightsabers need to be rethought to achieve some balance with other jedi and other professions.

Agree, see above statement about my BH.

  • We need a concept proposal about the FRS from the Devs. We need to be included in the design of this.

Please, but I doubt it happen.

I don't have the MCM, I'm a RM but I don't lose often. I do agree that FRS Jedi should be stronger in PvP.

I used to try and be nice. However after seeing the BH and GCWboards (and since BH are dabblers, they get other profs dragged into the fight) they scream nerf 9 out of 10 times if they can't beat a temp. The GCW forum will be hilarious when Jedi are pulled out and they start focusing on each other again (I was there for the CH nerf calls). I actually do play my BH as much as my Jedi and split time between PvE and PvP missions (loot is good for the books). My BH will take 9 out of 10 things down faster than my Jedi.

I see, this is just another post by a PvPer disparaging anyone who choses to play the game differently, masquerading as a reasonable discussion. Forgive me for trying to bring any logic to the discussion.

Logic? What the heck are you talking about?

Here's logic:

  1. I want to play a jedi

  2. I research jedi and find out it is heavily pvp

  3. decide to get jedi anyway and complain until the change it (screwing over all the jedi that came before you)

  4. Complain that jedi gets hit with the nerf bat repeatedly

ever think the nerf bat gets swung at jedi because the majority of the player base that PvPs (that are non jedi mind you but that is changing) cant stand jedi in PvP gameplay???

Go spend more time in the GCW forum....

Somehow I think that Yoda would disagree with this statement. A Jedi actually tries to avoid confrontation and violence, seeking more diplomatic approaches. Even those on the darkside prefer persuation and manipulation over killing. I think this notion that Jedi must be PVP is asinine. If for visibility control, then fine, do the deathsquad thing...anything that gives vis being donw in town, you are instantly killed by a deathsquad on the spot, no questions asked. But when I am out with my friends killing creatures, helping them grind, doing quests, I really don't feel likem essing with some bounty hunter looking for PVP. He wants it, I do not. When I want PvP, I go do Pvp. Do you see the issue here? It is about what I want to do, how I want to play my game at the time. Nothing worse than telling my friends they have to wait because some smacktard BH won't stop pestering me.

Ebb and flow and constant change, etc, etc ,etc....this is not something we need to put up with at the rate it is at. When you purchase a product, you expect it to work the way it is described to. As customers we are constantly having to re-learn aspects of the game. It really gets old. I have played many many online games. I have done many betas as well. This game has the feel of a beta. If I didn't love star wars so much, I would have left this game by now. I have not received what I expected out of this game as a paying customer. We put up with that, and with constant bugs, and constant changes and patches, and this works as intended, and that doesnt and balance balance balance...in a beta test. I did not see this in any of the other live games I played (except a few in their earliest days.)

[Ì[[[[≡≡≡≡≡[F]]]°ggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg)

The Darkside of the Force is neither Evil nor Good, it is simply an aspect of the Force, just as the Light side is neither Good nor Evil. The Darkside is an offensive and powerful side of the Force, where the Light is defensive and mundane. One is reached through emotion, the other through the absence of emotion. Hatred, Love, and Passion are the most powerful of emotions. Embrace them and you will be able to draw upon the true power of the Force.

OK...so now we have to add /forceNegotiate to our opening moves? Sorry...couldn't resist. I am talking about the game, not the books, movies, etc. You knew what was expected in the Jdi profession long before unlocking.

Change is in the manual...back of the front cover. Read it.

I will post a Jacella's View thread later in which I will discuss what I really feel about everything as a whole.

There is more...but the basis of jedi is PVP. This is uncontested. PVP professions can do PVE and such...but Jedi was conceived, designed, and implemented to be always PVP enabled. This isn't forced, but a simple reality of the profession.

You could just has easily have said when the game launched that faction combat was a PvP choice. If you don't want PvP, then don't do anything factional. That got changed because there were enough people that wanted factional PvE without the PvP.

With Jedi being an iconic class to the genre, it's obvious that many people want to play Jedi because of it's iconic stature in the setting. This is encouraged by the commercials, the tutorial, and the fact that once they get in game they see Jedi players. That doesn't mean they all want to PvP. As more and more people get Jedi that dislike PvP, the chances that things might be changed to support them increase. Not to mention all the hatred that forced PvP fosters.
